This is a real niche, "first world" problem set that is partially solved with the app. Macs don't like the official RP app, or my wireless speakers. The app helps, and works well. More than one way to skin a cat (can I still say that?).
The RP app works just fine on my MacBook Pro & MacBook AIr, as well as my wireless Sonos speakers, FWIW.
Iâm quite happy with Williamâs âofficialâ RP app. Iâve watched it grow since the very first release & appreciate the labor of love itâs been through the years. Iâll stick with that one, for what itâs worth.

I loaded it in from the Apple Store and it has some positives, like name of tune in the menu bar. Negative is that it lacks the pretty pictures that I enjoy.
So far it hasnât mailed my bitcoin address to Trump, so Iâm neutral on it.

New RP app for Mac!
Yup, no App name just a link? Not even listed in the Apple Store and using the original logo.
You decide.

I'm as cautious as they come...and will wait for Nate...but it's posted in the Apple app store, so it's been through some testing/screening.
The company is registered in Washington... and while it uses an agent for address/mailing... I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest the app is the pet project of someone with above average tech skills, an affection for Macs, and is frustrated that they have to go to a different process to listen to RP vs. everything else they listen to using their mac.
I'm taking the longshot here and saying it's legit.
It's a hobby project deal. I told him it was OK to publish it. I haven't seen the listing, nor have I used the app. But there's not much in the way of harm it can do, if Apple gives it the OK.

It's likely that it is legit, but I always get a little suspicious when there is a post like that from someone who just created a user account three weeks earlier - especially since they claim to be a "two decades" listener. I guess a lot of people just listen and don't bother creating accounts though. I can't afford don't use Macs so it doesn't affect me anyhow.
