in order of appearance -
Santana - Abraxas
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Supertramp - Crime of the Century
all during young, formative times.
very honorable mentions
ZZTop - Tres Hombres
Neil Young - Harvest
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
Steely Dan - Pretzel Logic
There are actually quite a few Iâve found on RP that would work as well.

my parents had a mono portable system and collected classics (Borodin, etc.) and Dad was heavily into Heintje and Herp Albert so my first exposure to something that stopped me in my tracks was hearing the neighbouring students play After the Goldrush late at night, LOUD, at a party in the backyard.
So definitely that one.
Others:
Close to the Edge
Life in the Bush of Ghosts
Kind of glad I grew up with the advent of home stereo.

Three that stopped me in my tracks at the time:
Dark Side of the Moon â Pink Floyd
A Wizard, A True Star â Todd Rundgren
Horses â Patti Smith
edit: I just saw Patti Smith on her 50th anniversary of that album so it was front of mind. It was different â and powerful. Then and now,

Solid choices. I do remember listening to Sargent Pepper's for the first time and it was pretty mind blowing

Curved Air is an interesting choice. Side A of the Second Album, Young Mother has some of the hookiest synthesizer licks I've ever heard. I still play it somewhat regularly. Tough choices but I would likely pick Phantasmagoria for a brand new 1st listen of a Curved Air album. Just played a couple of tracks several days ago.
After a couple of minutes of thought ...
TABB Idlewild South (Beginnings would be cheating because it has the first two albums)

Hard to narrow it down, but...
The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
The Beatles - Abbey Road
The Colourfield - Virgins and Philistines*
*That last one may seem out of place, but though I enjoyed Terry Hall's earlier work with The Specials and Fun Boy Three, I didn't know what to expect from his new endeavor. That album made quite an impression on me.

Off the top of my head:
Jimi Hendrix Experience, Are You Experienced?
Pink Floyd, Meddle
Nick Drake, Pink Moon

Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" was mind-blowing when I first heard it as a pre-teen. I was amused by traveling back in time when I was partially sedated for a cataract surgery and the surgeon (who looked suspiciously like Jon Hamm) DSOTM played in the background. Trippy stuff.
Hated U2's "Zoo Station" when I first heard it. Love it now.
