1,000 people have died from medical problems because of the effects of 9/11.

These reports and suspicions regarding a fatal lack of cooperation and information sharing between FBI and CIA are nothing new, and have been circulating for some time.  See for example Lawrence Wright's 2006 artlce "The Agent"

Historical revisionism/armchair navel-gazing on behalf of the tattered reputation of the Bush/Cheney Middle East foreign policy fiasco?  Thanks, I needed a laugh!!

One thing that I really admire about how BillG manages the Forum here is that he does go out of his way to be tolerant of all views, without any apparent bias.  That's a mighty rare thing on the Internet!  It's also a Good Thing IMHO that when one or the other crosses some line, that we're given the opportunity to work it out amongst ourselves first.

FWIW, a lot of screen names have changed, as previously banned members have snuck back in.  On occasion the new-old member will even be allowed to reclaim his/her original screen name.  I don't have a clue how this process works, but never see it playing out in public.  BillG moves in mysterious ways.  (Don't let that go to your head, Bill. {#Wink})

I agree that would never be the intention of the organizers.  But I have watched enough crowds to know that the Ground Zero volunteers' fans are most likely to degenerate into an ethanol-fueled celebration, shouting "USA USA" and other banalities that would have disrupted the 9-11 ceremonies.

Hence my choice of words.  A victory lap is for the benefit of the crowd.  If the crowd shows up expecting a victory lap, all well-meaning intentions fly out the door.

I'm glad that they're getting their due recognition in a separate ceremony.

Sorry... I type a LOT of stuff I end up deleting before I post. Once in a while something slips.

No matter what you think of Obama, I think constantly being disrespectful of a guy doing the best he can, with what he was left to work with, kinda sucks.

Or maybe someone decided that it wasn't appropriate to disrupt a solemn and tender moment for those who lost their family members with a victory lap celebration for the ground zero workers.

Those workers earned their recognition, but to be fair, they had a lot of time at ground zero to stop and contemplate.  Time that the families of the lost didn't have precisely because ground zero has been a "work in progress" money pit for a decade and counting.

Something is very wrong when, after a bunch of men hijacked planes and used them to murder 3000 people, that someone would single out a scheduling decision of all things to call "unforgivable".
