In the streets of your distant land
In your strange caps and clothing
Shouting 'I don't understand'
But you, you look so loaded
It's something I can't feel
But I'm into some GOD action
And maybe yours is real.
'Cause I'm Falling
I need your God on my side.
Well I see you objecting so strongly
To the ways of the liberal disease
And your armchair satisfaction
As you narrow the meaning of free
And I dream of a home that is tidy
And a church full of honey bees
And I wonder about the suppression
That you get when you're down on your knees.
And I'm Falling.
I need your God on my side.
Well I see you thought we could change the world
If we gather round and pray
But it's just like sending one letter
To more than just one place
But 'Dear God can you help us'
Must be the opening phrase
'Cause we're falling
Need your God on my side.
One I can call my own.
I need my God on your side
Make a happy home.
We need their God on our side
In search of him I will roam
Need our God on our side
Mine got up and left home
You need our God on your side.
Based on some comments here, so many confused ideas and thoughts around God. Please read the Bible, beginning to end, and understand it from your own perspective. There’s so much in there yet so many people take little snippets out of context and form ignorant conclusions.
Or alternatively a viewing of Jesus Christ Superstar is a quicker introduction to the new testament. You can check the text later for anything that's not been made clear through the medium of song.

We re not all confused about God. The world would probably be a much better place if gods and religions had never been invented.
Oh and Goodbye Jumbo is still in my top 10 albums of all time.
I agree with jbunniii. I too can't believe that this album was from 26 years ago. It has stood the test of time in my collection. Love Karl and World Party.
34 years now, and I still can’t believe it either. And, sadly, RIP Karl. Excellent album.
We could certainly use more World Party / Karl Wallinger on Radio Paradise!
I wonder: is it me, or is Bill playing more political-social justice tracks these days? Because it's impossible to miss a line like:
Well I see you objecting so strongly

and not be struck that it rings far more truly now than when it was written way back in 1990, when — Bush the First was our Vader.
Seeing as how we have quite the choice, perspective depending, when it comes to Vaders these days, I could see that being possible and beneficial.

I thought that was what was playing until I turned the volume up a bit.
He is touring again to small venues. Saw him last year and it was fantastic. Voice is perfect as ever.
Yeah, that's in there, but I hear Billy Joel singing "Piano Man."
And maybe that's just me.
An easier—even cooler—way is to click on the "Buy from Amazon" at the bottom of the album cover, which in this case gets you to:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000003JB0
They go to the same place, but I think if you actually click on the RP link Bill gets a (probably small) cut.
That's not cool.
Definitely very cool.

James Richard (J.R.) Perry would like for Americans to think that God is on his side.
That's not cool.
Sounds pretty cool to me.

I can't listen to much from this album anymore, but this one has held up well. I had forgotten about it. 8
Did you actually listen to the lyrics or just jump to an ill-informed conclusion based on the song title? This is hardly a song promoting religious indoctrination, or as you so eloquently put it "indroctonisation" (huh?). If anything it's just the opposite. Wallinger is just voicing the musings of an average shlub looking at this messed-up world and searching for something to believe in. (IMO)
Has anyone heard Peter Gabriel's Big Blue Ball? I have been tempted to pick it up just because of Karl's involvement on the CD.
I would try ebay.
I have the CD at home...
I came here to say that this sounds like Jellyfish, though not nearly as good. I've always thought Jellyfish was about equal parts Queen, Beach Boys and Beatles. Spilt Milk is really an amazing album. (Sorry for the non-World Party commentary. But not very sorry.)
World Party steals overtly and blatantly riffs, melodies, lyrics and ideas from all over the classic rock and soul spectrum from the Beatles to the Stones to Prince, to Jellyfish ripping off Queen. One of the reasons I looove World Party.
Separate World Party and RP, preferably.
