I did some volunteer work in a cloud  forest called Monteverde, Costa Rica in the year 2000. My job was to observe a Quetzal (national bird of Costa Rica)  nest and protect it from monkeys all day for two weeks. The Canadian researcher gave me a Discman with 3 CDs.  Jagged Little Pill, Queen's greatest hits vol II and a Dave Matthews live CD. My first introduction to Dave and got to know and appreciate him very much. Only saw one monkey in 2 weeks. My weapon to shield the Quetzal, a plastic picnic plate attached to a pole

I first heard this song (and this version even) when I was in Japan as a student back in 2000, played to me by a good friend. I have since then loved it and I get a big smile and a fuzzy feeling every time it comes on. Love it.

I cant stand this guy. Lordy.  I partially blame over play by commercial radio I subjected myself to years ago on my daily commute.
I never skip on RP.  But this is one few artist I do turn down

Can't stand this guy's schnozzy voice. Maybe the music is good. Maybe the lyrics are good. I don't know. That voice makes me turn the volume off for the duration.

I don't understand why some singers choose to add weird voice inflections. I otherwise really like the song, and his band is amazing.

This is an acoustic version done by 2 individuals and clearly not better than the standard version, but the DMB haters always come out of the woodwork. If it's not Led Zep or Pink Floyd it's no good. Frank Zappa said "most people wouldn't recognize good music if it bit them on the ass".
RP could play better much better material from DMB, however. Then RP plays the overplayed Fadeaway, which I also happen to like.

Not sure how, but missed Dave Matthews Band in my musical formative years. The first time I heard of him was when I heard DaVinci's Notebook singing Ants Marching and I checked out the source. Now every time I hear Dave Matthews Band here, I think it's Ants Marching! Similar sounding, to me.

DMB's songs seem to be either really well crafted or meandering half-distracted entries in a private diary. This one definitely falls into the latter category...and then all the down to the floor. Best left in the 90s.

I wouldn't necessarily characterize not liking his music as "bashing", although comments here often (unfortunately) lean that way (pro and con).  I find most of his music repetitive and boring.  This one is not so bad.  I can only speak for myself and I hold little regard for what is "trendy". The "beauty" of the music is in the eye of the beholder.  I get irritated by the comments that insist that we must like/dislike this band, that singer or whatever.  I don't know him and certainly have no reason to bash him personally either.  He might be a great human being, I don't know. I do know that I'm a great human being, but NOBODY wants to hear me sing!!!

Love this song but I think the best version is from the 1999 Woodstock Festival held in Rome, NY.

I think this is a great recording.  If you don't like it then you might consider a lobotomy or at minimal electro-shock therapy.   10 ------- beyond doubt.

I must disagree. Talking Heads are/were worlds more challenging, both musically and thematically. I can tolerate this band, a bit, but must agree with those who find this performance to be meandering and borderline musical. I lived in Charlottesville for a time and was intrigued to learn that DM based his band there, but geographic familiarity can only go so far. In essence, the dude does not sing very well and seems to have a limited conceptual and musical range.
