"Show me, show me, show me how you do that trick
The one that makes me scream", she said
"The one that makes me laugh", she said
And threw her arms around my neck

"Show me how you do it,
And I'll promise you, I'll promise that
I'll run away with you
I'll run away with you"

Spinning on that dizzy edge
I kissed her face, I kissed her head
And dreamed of all the different ways
I had to make her glow

"Why are you so far away?", she said
"Why won't you ever know,
That I'm in love with you?
That I'm in love with you?"

You - soft and only
You - lost and lonely
You - strange as angels
Dancing in the deepest oceans
Twisting in the water
You're just like a dream
You're just like a dream

Daylight licked me into shape
I must've been asleep for days
And moving lips to breathe her name,
I opened up my eyes

And found myself alone, alone,
Alone above a raging sea
Stole the only girl I loved
And drowned her deep inside of me

You - soft and only
You - you're lost and lonely
You - just like heaven

Thanks for a live version of one of the happiest songs ever recorded!
Part of the ritual for going out in my share house days involved swirling around to this (and usually knocking things over) and it would end just before the taxi arrived with "Temple of Love" by the Sisters.  Fond memories.{#Cheers}
Live, remix, album.......it don't freakin' matter.  Just love this song.
Thanks for bringing me back to that day,,,,again....so love this song
Bill LOVES the Cure. Luckily so do I. And this track is a belter.

I don't think there is any Dinosaur Jr on the playlist; there are some of Lou Barlow's other projects, though.

The cure.  I like this band...  great song.
Smith's vocals do not sound good in this recording.  :(
This never FAILS to amend an otherwise poor day - I'm finally smiling!  Yay for the Cure!

Nice!
I've heard like five different versions of this song in the last three days, in random places. Crazy.

I prefer the original one to all of the remixes, live versions, etc. that I've heard.

I've heard cover bands do a better job on this song
disappointing
Surprisingly good!  {#Dancingbanana_2}
Rock on Bob Smith!

Happy days for beginners on the guitar...

Fun to play.....

hot damn this rocks. Oh so many memories........ I have seen them no less than 15 times and will every tour until robert or I die.

I heard a acoustic-type cover of this by Katie Melua recently, it's pretty cool too.
I am looking forward to seeing them play this live (hopefully) next week. 22 years of seeing The Cure live and every time a joy.
I prefer the studio version, but this is still one of the great pop songs of all time. (IMHO)

Nice one!
Love this song.

kids, i like some cure ... but there's no reason this song should be a 7.6 ... it is boring and goes nowhere ... and sounds like 95% of all other cure songs
I missed the live version so I don't know how it sounds. But as far as this song getting an avg 7.6 rating I agree that seems a bit off...should be closer to 10. It is a classic.
Molly Dancers Unite!
I am sure the Smith's will be played soon...this is so boring
this is a horrible let down after that set
What the hell is going on!! evil
The Lips followed by the Cure? That would be Chapstick!

Well, I don't feel quite that strongly, but I always kinda wondered what people saw (heard) in the Cure. That whiney voice gets old real fast.
For some reason putting The Cure on in college worked like Spanish Fly. Girls loved it, they felt all "alternative".

Not another "I give every song by them a 2 threat. Get over yourself. If you can't get more that 2 from this song fine but don't be narrow minded to the extent of assuming all by the band will fail to awaken your taste. You sound like tux, who despite muting or switching stations still likes to throw in comments about u2 or coldplay.

This tune holds so many memories for me.... All outstanding...
wh00t!
why yes, i've asked that first line recently. yeah, you know who you are!
On July 16, 2006, this song was played as a wake-up call for the crew of Space Shuttle Discovery on their flight STS-121 at the request of astronaut Piers Sellers' family.
Robert Smith sure lost a lot of weight ever since he joined the Killers....

I feel like crying
I actually prefer this listening to this live version because I hate the crap muddy production of the studio version. That said, if I was introducing someone to the song, I'd play them the studio version.

Oh I think the live version redeems the studio version enough to make it not so annoying... good in fact.

Simple as that? I don't get it at all...

Remind me why I *didn't* like The Cure back in the '80s?? 9! l(so.much.older.then;younger.now)mic
I love you Robert...... you saved my life, and it's all because of you if I learned to play.... love love love..... 4 ever!

It's funny; I saw them live in '93 and they rocked hard. Including this song; it was a very memorable show. So this version sounds a bit poppier than I recall.
Something good came out of the late 80's.
Eww. Sounds like the singer is recovering from sinus surgery. But he always sounds like that. Yuk.
love that song - great live version! i want to see them live again...hopefully they come back on a big tour in 2006!

Actually, it sounds better. He doesn't sound like he's about to cry for once.

I saw the Cure in concert many years ago and was very impressed with them. They came out for something like a 45-60 minute encore after a full show. I thought that was pretty cool of them. This is s very uplifting song that I've not thought of in too long.

Great "happy" song that reminds me of "Friday I'm In Love."
Takes me back. I have tons of Cure in the CD player, but little of it has made the conversion to mp3 yet, so I don't hear it that often now. I have a live Cure CD from about 1988 that has this song, I think it was recorded at the Wembly arena, it is one of the best Live CD's I've ever heard. Unfortunately it was an import only, and I have the only copy of it I've ever seen. I'll upload something off it this weekend.

I did buy their greatest hits after hearing this song here. I love the lyrics, so passionate. Isn't it wonderful to be able to make another person glow!
A tune for the ages. Brings me back to college. A bit overplayed, but tremendous when heard infrequently.
A classic Cure tune, if a bit tired. I appreciate hearing the live version on RP rather than the same old...

my question is why.
Very good song, one of my Cure favorites. Saw them live about 10-12 years ago. they put on a great show and the encore was about an hour long. Gotta love a band that will treat their fans that way.

Holy Doodle! That's gotta be the first time I've seen you post a negative on a song! I was weaned on Boys Don't Cry, but I love this too.
Wonderful!!
Doesn't sound significantly different from the original, but still a sublime tune.

Hey! This is the song that my friend who just got married had played for the wedding recessional. It was neat. Of course the groomsmen were all wearing kilts and the bridesmaids had black dresses and black roses...
