Don't you forget what I've told you
So many years
We are hopeless and slaves to our fears
We're an accident called human beings

Don't be angry for loving the baby
And say it's unreal
So many lives turned to salt
Like roses who're hiding their thorns

It's the end of the world
The end of the world
It's a prison for dreams and for hopes
And still we believe there is God
It's the end of the world
The end of the world
We're dead but pretend we're alive
Full of ignorance, fools in disguise

In your room doing nothing
But staring at flickering screens
Streets are empty, but still you can hear
Joy of children turning to tears

Disease hides around every corner
Quiet, lay still
Wait for a moment to hear
We forgot what is touch, what to feel

It's the end of the world
The end of the world
It's a prison for dreams and for hopes
And still we believe there is God
It's the end of the world
The end of the world
We're dead but pretend we're alive
Full of ignorance, fools in disguise

Take this pill, it will make you feel dizzy
And then give you wings
Soon, boy, you'll fall into sleep
Without nightmares, without any fears

If you wake up in hell or in heaven
Tell the angels we're here
Waiting below for a dream
Here in the garden of sin

It's the end of the world
The end of the world
It's a prison for dreams and for hopes
And still we believe there is God
It's the end of the world
The end of the world
We're dead but pretend we're alive
Full of ignorance, fools in disguise

My point? While all the music is great, he is best with PT, and really should get the band back together.

and they did!
THAT'S why this sounds familiar. It's the dude from Porcupine Tree. Got it.

A beautiful cover for the Hebrew version, but I have to say that lately I'm disappointed with Aviv Gefen complying with ugly rules of the Israeli government and the green passport idea, which is a shame to all human kind.
I quite like this song, but the lyrics are somewhat distressing. The music fits the tone quite well, but the vision, if I may call it that, is more than a little disconcerting. I'm not dissing, but the dis is overwhelming in this piece.

Love the synth work on this. SW has a knack for orchestrating and blending beautiful melodies with hard rock.

True enough, though I was just referring to another song in the End of the World vein.

This one is still my favourite Blackfield song.

In passing: I would love to see Steven Wilson and Roger Waters double-bill concerts in Israel and the West Bank.

Hey Relayer, You just do not give up!

In terms of brilliance alone, I would place his solo work above Porcupine Tree.

In terms of broader audience appeal, I place PT well above his solo work.

In terms of economic return, a Porcupine Tree revival would really hit it out of the park.  Would it be big enough to allow him to put musicians on retainer?  Maybe not.

But then a PT revival—if successful—would likely bring more ears to his solo work.

Trying to see things from Steven's perspective.

I really like that song. It reminds me of a great time when I first heard it on RP.
I like Steven Wilson in all his incarnations. Blackfield was a decent band, but it belonged to Aviv Geffen. Look how far Wilson has come since this tune.

There are two vocalists. Steven Wilson is from Hemel Hempstead and Aviv Geffen is from Tel Aviv. You should only be 50% offended.
Wow! This reminds me of my (English) sister in law's list of favorite things Americans have asked her. Number one being:

My personal favorite:

"England huh?, what language do they speak? is it anywhere near Sweden?"

We've had a female prime minister, briefly. As she took over from the last right wing PM, she didn't get re-elected. And now we can only hope  that our current right wing nut will get punted soon. He scares me.

I agree. I am very curious, and a bit anxious, about the future of PT, now Wilson has openly stated he's had it with metal as an inspiration. While I like Grace for Drowning a lot, it is also fitting with the output of Wilson in the last few years, i.e., very heavy, very difficult, and rather unenjoyable in a way.
Hope not.

I'll bet there is some great Israeli pop music that we are not hearing.

P.S.  Great catnip. ;-)

Ack, Blackfield, Elbow, and Porcupine Tree all in less than half an hour.  For some, aural catnip.  For me, aural catlitter (used).

LOL! Ok, it's catnip to me (prr, prr) but I can understand that others might not have quite the same taste, and RP does play quite a lot of PT, Steve Wilson and Blackfield. Still, I feel the same as you about Neil Young, who's played pretty frequently on here.

Never mind, when PT comes on, just hit mute, curl up into a ball, and go into a catnap :)

No question, but there is a place for the bombastic, as well as the overwrought, and even for the combo. I like the sound of this, without hearing any words.

It sounds VERY MUCH like Porcupine Tree!

Nope...Porcupine Tree is MUCH better. This is a merely a shadow compared to them.

Me too. It's OK but I feel PT is way better all round.

natanshalva,

Would love to hear the Hebrew version.

This song fits a Nordic temperament well. I find it rather uplifting.

This might be a social experiment by Bill to see how many depressing songs one must play consecutively to get xx% of listeners to take a harder look at those tranquilizers.
