When Harry met Sally it was settled
That Mary Jane would fall for Spiderman
The story was set in stone like Tarzan and Jane, Yoko and John
You were like my Hollywood movie
The butterflies and Central Park kiss
Of course you would pursue me, I was Julia Roberts
I mean, how could you resist
Well, I am the Fourth of July
I'm throwing you a fire in the sky
You could go blind in my light
But you were looking for an orchid
And I will always be a dandelion
Dandelion
So I put on the best of my Warhols
I could have been your Marilyn Monroe
But you had only eyes for the Mona Lisa
You shared my cab ride all the way home
But I am the Fourth of July
I'm throwing you a fire in the sky
You could go blind in my light
But you were looking for an orchid
And I will always be a dandelion
I am a middle class home, I am a worn out banjo
I'll never dance in Swan Lake, I'll never play the cello
I am the Northern Lights, I am invisible
I am a dandelion, I am forever wild
I am the Fourth of July
I'm throwing you a fire in the sky
You could go blind in my light
But you were looking for an orchid
And I will always be
You were looking for a tea light
And I will always be a forest fire
A dandelion

I do. I'm quite enjoying it.
Even more crappy folk. Do people really want to hear this?

Too much of this style played on RP

yet another sad shit
It's ok, kind of syrupy.
I discovered Antje right her on RP with this fine tune...then got see her at the Sutter Creek Theater...
what a great night
what a great night
Really great lyrics. Burn on honey.
Shawn Colvin + Dar Williams = Antje
But will she sleep with me?
Dig it. Nice vibe. Kind of a folky mellow Poe.
Man, I'm starting to really resent RP for making me admit that I like chick music. ;) This is just lovely.
Yet another new favorite song found on RP. Thanks Bill :)
I've always been partial to dandelions and forest fires....
lovely...

Great comment of the day award !!! Nice tune.
Now that was a Norwegian name if I ever heard one.
Very pretty song and pretty voice.
love the harmonies.. such a refreshingly simple song with a beautiful sound
I bought this cd after hearing it on RP
It is a great listen and her comments between songs are laugh out loud funny

Nice song...completely off topic...my dad used to call me "Dandelion" as a baby (since my name is Dan).
Her voice reminded me of Shawn Colvin.

The lyrics are horrendous.... all over the place and quite insipid.
I like it. Quite a bit.
Plaintive, yet hopeful.
pretty song, makes me wanna drink some dandy wine and luv!
always love the sound of six strings and a women's voice

If you take that when you need to detox, whatever, when your liver is overworked, by whatever ails you. Learned that from a kitchen witch.
Can we get back to the music.
wow! wow! wow! this is a very nice tune.

When I was in kindergarten (in Ohio, actually) our class went to the playground, collected all the dandeliion flowers we could find, then made actual jelly out of it. Dandelion Jelly. Seriously.

Thanks, RP for showcasing Antje... I got this entire album from eMusic because of your playing this song and Reasonland!
vocal in this track has a bit too much of a signal processed sound to it IMO. i bet it sounds just fine clean.

Did anyone use to take dandelions and rub them on your cheeks or the backs of your hands when you were a kid? I did, it was fun :)

Nice voice and song.

I thought it was Patti Griffin...I think we can add Antje to the likable female accostic singer/songwriter crowd.

Or better yet make their heads pop off!!

Me too. When did the IG's corner the market on acoustic guitar and harmonies?
I think she is harmonizing with herself though. Not as authentic as the Indigo Girls and kind of hard to do live.

I thought this was an Indigo Girls song at first. I guess that's a good thing, since I like the Indigo Girls. :-)
klik her nose, she likes that, an' you'll be surprised with more!

If you are a member of Folk Alley, check out her live performance they recorded. She does have that shyness about her, but at the same time, warmth and honesty. You get the feeling that Antje is truely happy to be sitting there playing for you.
Also check out her collaboration with Solas on their Reunion cd.
What a gem, and what a voice.
She's great live: a mesmerizing stage presence,
and very personable and humble, almost shy,
but with a sharp sense of humor.

I hadn't heard of her before today, but, you know, this is pretty good. Certainly not banal and generic like so much of its Lilith-oriented kind. And she's rather attractive, too.
I hate songs that name drop like this. Too bad, cause the melody and the voice are nice. Kind of a Sarah Harmer vibe.
