Rollin' down highway 95
Sailin' through her hometown countryside
Move on over stand astride
My cruise control's in overdrive
Need to take my baby for a ride
Ooo she's like a smooth stretch of highway
Ooo she's like a cool Summer breeze
If my motor's runnin' right, we might lose control tonight
Got the shape I love to squeeze, looks that bring me to my knees
Oh please, let it roll tonight
Might be doin' more thahn fifty-five
When I sit my baby right down by my side
Where the rubber hit the road
This rig don't dig no overload
Come on, and let my baby ride
Ooo she's like a smooth stretch of highway
Ooo she's like a cool Summer breeze
If my motor's runnin' right, we might lose control tonight
Got the shape I love to squeeze, looks that bring me to my knees
Oh please, let it roll tonight
Now I know just how heaven feels
When she reach beneath my big old steerin' wheel
Dyna flow, power glide
Bored and stroked, I'm satisfied
When I take my baby for a ride
Ooo she's like a smooth stretch of highway
Ooo she's like a cool Summer breeze

The perfect summer road trip song.

i'm not sure...the lyrics are so subtle. what's this about, exactly?
GREAT TUNE! Thanx RP!

Makes me want to jump and shout!
One of my favorite songs, EVER!
Okay this is pretty good; not as good as the Lowell days, but close.
I agree with Jimmy Page. Little Feat has always been my favourite band; less so since Lowell's passing. I was lucky enough to see them a half dozen times when Lowell was still alive.

They should have a 12 for Little Feat songs.
11 for ordinary stupendous songs.
10 maximum for everyone else. And that'd be stretching it.

"Ooo she's like a smooth stretch of highway
Ooo she's like a cool summer breeze"
(simple but descriptive lyrics) + (powerful horn section) = at least a NINE!
Don't know about the horns, but can I guess they're the Tower of Power?

Chair dance!!!!
Reaches for the mute button.....
There's a simple answer to why the R&R hall of Fame sucks, no Little Feat! Don't even think they've been considered.
Any song about road head deserves at least an 8
Ok...this is a good follow up to Jelly Roll Morton. Still vote to have someone upload for consideration..."Doctor Jazz" by Jools Holland off the Squeeze album 'Frank'.
Nothing like the original Little Feat...
The great thing about this band is they could hold it together on their own. Without Lowell.

We played this when I was in marching band in college. What a rush.

Still annoying
Me likes this!
I like this. The instrumental part seemed to be used whenever there was a whacky chase scene in 1980's movies.
woooo-fukkin'-hooooo baby this piece cooks!!! : )
Would love to see these guys live. I bet they play an incredibly tight set.
there are some extended versions of this floating around outthere / highly recommend checking those out as well !
I'm so thankful for the day I discovered RP!

I bought the CD on the strength of this cut, and I recall being disappointed that the balance wasn't as energetic or even interesting as "Let It Roll." Now I have to go back and listen to it again—hopefully, I was young and impatient, and the disc is a rediscovered gem. Let you know how it turns out.

This is one of there best songs in my opinion.
Does not sound anything like Little Feat.
Only a passing resemblance to the real Little Feat.

Otomi and BusinessGypsy - I have that page bookmarked and will mosey through it when I have a day off. Meanwhile, I'm too busy dancing to this song. (That Bill chose to follow it with "Wheels" by Cake is a total mystery to me. Talk about quashing a good groove...)

I think this is their best album. Every song is good.
Saw them "trying out" this tour in a small club in Pittsburgh, (Graffiti): there couldn't have been more than 300 people in a sweaty summer room: these were MUSICIANS!!! We danced all night!!
Smokin'!

I agree, gypsy. I watched over Marty "Neon Park" Muller's shoulder as he worked out this hard edge technique. Using acrylics on canvas, he would paint one image, then lay out strips of masking tape to block part of it, then paint another image on top. Removing the tape revealed the juxtaposed double image. (The trick to prevent the paint from bleeding under the tape is to go over the latter with a wash of diluted matte medium to seal the edges.) Marty, with his characteristic humor, told me he was going for the effect of "a video image made by someone who doesn't know anything about video images." Anybody interested in his work can see a series of gallery pieces using the same technique here (don't forget to use the "Go To Next Page" links at the bottom of each page).

Some of Neon Park's finest work on this cover. Rest in peace, you bizarre genius.

Ohhhh - Little Feat! This song just drags me kicking and screaming out of a depression and makes me dance like a spastic fool. Gimme this in an IV, and I'll be hooked up for the rest of my life.
love tight bands! these guys know how to get it done...
Oh yes. Doesn't get much better than this.
Not usually my taste, but I dig this song for some reason. I think it's time to party!!!

What's happening here? I'm dancing like John Belushi in Blues Brothers! Oh no (oh yes!) this song is enchanted. Now, where are those dancing bananas?

Break out the dancing bananas again!

Gosh I do love me some Little Feat.
This is such a great album. I wish we would hear some other songs from it.
seen these guy in 76 in KC in a bright red orange truimph burning a fat one with the top off. sweet good old days!
Caught a few incarnations of this band playing acoustic in some small ampitheatre off of topango canyon, back in the 90s when i lived there. Always a great surprise.
Probably worth about a half second off your quarter-mile time.
Foot loose foot loose...repeat to fade
Recommend everyone to get this Album its a Knockout all the way through.. Long Live R.R.

I like both the song and the album very much. Back when my ex and I spent a lot of time exploring the California deserts this was one of our staples. It brings back great (and wistful) memories.

To echo what others have said here, it's not Lowell-esque, but it is a lot of fun. Tough not to break out the dancing bananas for this one. Oh, what the hell!
Great song!

Completely agree. This tune, though, is one of the rare post Lowell high water marks.
"Feats" always make me feel good in any incarnation. Nope, it's not Lowell and that era band, but they still put plenty of energy into their work. Saw them live about 7 years ago and they rocked the house!
They just ain't the same...

"If my motor's runnin' right, we might lose control tonight" --one of the most unintentionally funny lines written.
I always thought this was a Greg Allman tune in his bloated druggie days, like the horrid "I'm no angel" .
I like the Feat plenty, but this tune is just a viagra away from has been ville. I'll pass on this "I'm still an immature 60 year old bad boy as long as I can find my bifocals and geritol" genre, and forgive the Feat for a momentary lapse. I'm sure this is a fun tune for some people, and that's cool.
Bill Payne on keys.

I was rather ambivilent when I heard that the surviving Feats were regrouping 10 years after Lowell's passing. To my delight, the addition of Craig Fuller and Fred Tackett worked out great. This song rocks and the first several releases with this line-up were great records. Still prefer the Lowell era stuff but you gotta give credit to the great musicians the survivng members are.
