Lyrics
Stir it up little darling, stir it up
Come on baby come on and stir it up little darling, stir it up
It's been a long long time since I've got you on my mind
And now you are here
I say it's so clear
To see what we can do, honey, just me and you
Come on and stir it up, little darling, stir it up
Come on baby come on and stir it up little darling, stir it up
I'll push the wood, I'll blaze your fire
Then I'll satisfy your heart's desire
Said I'll stir it up, yeah, ev'ry minute, yeah
All you got to do is keep it in, baby
And stir it up, little darling, stir it up
Come on and stir it up, oh, little darling, stir it up, yeah
Oh, will you quench me while I'm thirsty?
Come and cool me down when I'm hot?
Your recipe, darling, is so tasty
And you sure can stir your pot
So stir it up, little darling, stir it up
Come on and stir it up, oh, little darling, stir it up
Come on and stir it up, oh, little darling, stir it up
Hey, this song actually makes some sense now that I see that it's "stir" not "steer." Never to late to learn something new...
When I was young I always thought he was singing a woman's name - "Little darling, Wisteria" or something like that. (Until I heard this song play today I'd completely forgotten about it - happy to have it again with me.)
Let's move that unappetizing meme down some - shall we - please?!
Needless to say this is an absolute classic - "10"
Yeah.... ok, here's a better one >>>

I love that bass so much! It's the rare welcome earworm that won't quit.
When I ripped this cd into my digital collection...I intentionally left this track off. Mr. BM produced a butt ton of great music, but this one never grabbed me. I think its the fact that it just seems so trivial compared to some of his more challenging tracks.
I disagree, this is Bob at his best - forget the politics, this is about love, humanity.
The music here defined a generation of sound, that reached around the globe.
So super laid back, so effortless, so unique.
It's just gorgeous.
I mean, that bass guitar - it makes me laugh with joy, such a simple little rif, but it goes deep inside your tummy and makes you HAPPY.
It's joyful - full of life, love and happiness.

Feel sorry for those who can't enjoy this or even keep hating reggae on RP.
If you care about that sort of thing, you might want to shop elsewhere.
Thanks for that info, Bill, which should have been obvious to me if I thought past my wallet. I care a lot about that sort of thing. How I wish the internet had a more "vetted" instantiation that enforced play-by-the-rules, where participants had to be registered and anonymously certified as legit, but never exposed as to identity. It could be done with RSA encryption and https without annoying legitimate users, maybe. In a perfect world, it would take a site like Soundsbox (or whatever) and run any accesses through another site that completes the transaction, deletes the host site monitization, and sends payment to the artist.
Apologies for turning this comment into what should be a forum thread! :-)
You're the ideal candidate to buy a download!

The URL you posted is to a Russian ripoff site. None of what you pay goes to the artists or labels (that's why the prices are so low...).

Squid, you've posted at least four different comments for this song. Methinks you get paid by the word....
Yes, I've heard it a thousand times, and won't mind hearing it a thousand more — in a row, if possible!

Hey save some of that doobie for me!
So much ganga smoke in the air that you got high even without a spliff in your paws.
Rated this "godlike," and that might be the first time I meant it literally. This song incarnates the heavenly. .

And here is the original :) Enjoy.
Possibly from 1967, it was written and recorded for his wife Rita. I really love the hometown sound of this total classic. Sigh. . .gives me goosebumps.
Does anybody still have lighter fluid on their shelf?
I LOVE this song ... GODLIKE and like Natural Mystic by Marley ... just natural goodness inspirey irey

I saw Bob play this live on TV in the '70s on a BBC programme called the Old Grey Whistle Test and I was just blown away.
I recently told the story to my eldest son and showed him the video and he was blown away too.
I hope that one day, I will have grandchildren who, when they are old enough, I will show them this link and watch them be blown away as well.
Peace.
Yeah buddy! ;)
I have and it certainly could use a tuner.

In a pinch, Pinch Haig will do nicely. Blended, but very good.
Wow, that must have been an awesome trip, SP!
Two sugars please love, stir it up, lil' darlin'
Your recipe is so tasty
I'm working on some Lagavulin 16-year, Ardbeg 10-year, and the always chewy LaPhroaig 10-year.
On the safer side, I'm also enjoying some Bruichladdich "Waves". Safe to say I like my Islays. ; )
(And, oh yah, "Stir it Up" is one of my fave Bob tunes.)
Expensive tastes, dude! But good :o). I had some Highland Park 12yo last night which soothed my mouth and my mood. Orkney's finest :*)
. I sure would like to get my tongue around an 18yo, though (ahem!).
We've got a whisky club goin' here, I'm sipping on a glass of Caol Ila 12 as we speak, so to errr speak. Bought in the Nicaraguan "Duty Free" (don't get me started on what that actually means) last week and just opened - Ahhh yes Spirit UP indeed.
I often click on what the person has rated highly when someone makes a blanket comment like this about a song. So interesting. You know 10 is highest, right, TJS?
PRIMITIVE!!!!

Oh, and Talisker 10-year never lets me down.
I went to the Talisker Distillery once. Lovely tour...better tasting room than most :)
Oh, and Talisker 10-year never lets me down.
I just passed through your neck of the woods on my annual motorcycle trip, Beach:

Lagavulin 16-year + Highland Park 18-year, please.

On the other topic, please, the Macallan 25. :) There is no substitute.

Tremendous indeed. It was from a TV program called the old grey whistle test which at the time was about the only place you could see decent music on the TV in the UK. I used to watch it with mates after going to the pub and saw many, many bands and artists that have continued to influence me.
This particular video I clearly remember seeing at the time live and blew me away and it is indeed well worth watching.
I KNOW I've seen "The Old Grey Whistle Test" on TV, but for the life of me, I can't remember where - PBS in Oregon, perhaps? I think it was on in the wee hours when I was trying in vain to catch a few hours of sleep... I don't watch much other than Public Broadcasting lately - mainstream TV is as bad as the news. RP and PBS - my venues of choice... Thanks for the reminder, Poacher!

thank you bill for playing this. It made my monday morning much brighter!
I'll give your dog a squeaky toy if you upload Dread Zepplin. I haven't thought of them in years...
Well, I don't have a dog, and I don't need a squeaky toy, but I do have some DZ on my HD. Now ... which song to upload ...
None for me, they numb the tongue too much.
Cragganmore and Balvenie are my usual choices.
along with the occasional Bob M.
You have no idea the joy of the day he picked me up and was blasting Oingo Boingo because the tape deck was fixed.

Lagavulin? Well, well, well. I think you and me agree about whisky, if not always about music!
Islay single malts forever! Quite why anyone drinks blended whisky escapes me.
Yes, Lagavulin is my fave, but here in Canada it has gone from $50 per bottle to $124 in three years.
I remain with Islay single malts, however, such as Laphroaig and, very recently, Smokehead, which is wonderful!

I'm more of a Highland Malt person myself. Though I'll never turn down any single malt. :)
still stir me up always in my life!!
