Stir It Up
By: Bob Marley and the Wailers
Lyrics
Stir it up little darling, stir it up
Come on baby come on and stir it up little darling, stir it up
It's been a long long time since I've got you on my mind
And now you are here
I say it's so clear
To see what we can do, honey, just me and you

Come on and stir it up, little darling, stir it up
Come on baby come on and stir it up little darling, stir it up
I'll push the wood, I'll blaze your fire
Then I'll satisfy your heart's desire
Said I'll stir it up, yeah, ev'ry minute, yeah
All you got to do is keep it in, baby
And stir it up, little darling, stir it up
Come on and stir it up, oh, little darling, stir it up, yeah

Oh, will you quench me while I'm thirsty?
Come and cool me down when I'm hot?
Your recipe, darling, is so tasty
And you sure can stir your pot
So stir it up, little darling, stir it up
Come on and stir it up, oh, little darling, stir it up
Come on and stir it up, oh, little darling, stir it up

When I was young I always thought he was singing a woman's name - "Little darling, Wisteria" or something like that. (Until I heard this song play today I'd completely forgotten about it - happy to have it again with me.)

I disagree, this is Bob at his best - forget the politics, this is about love, humanity.

The music here defined a generation of sound, that reached around the globe.
So super laid back, so effortless, so unique.

It's just gorgeous.

It's joyful - full of life, love and happiness.

10 One Love / People Get Ready (Medley) 02:54
11 Jamming (Long Version) 05:55
12 Punky Reggae Party 06:52

I'm no expert on Bob Marley but according to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...), it was first released as a single by Bob Marley and the Wailers and then re-recorded for the album, Catch A Fire.  So it seems it's not from Exodus then.

10. Always.
My favourite Marley tune.
Feel sorry for those who can't enjoy this or even keep hating reggae on RP.
Sad to hear of Bunny Wailer's death today. Godspeed sir.
Thanks RP.
A song that reminds you of the good times you can have in life, and it happens too !At least 8, necessarily. The rhythm is perfect.
“When one door is closed, don’t you know, another is open.”
Ahhhhhh....This gem of a song is like a glass of ice cold water on a scorching summer's day.

Ahhhh.....this song immediately relaxes me. {#Roflol}
Never get sick of this one

Thanks for that info, Bill, which should have been obvious to me if I thought past my wallet. I care a lot about that sort of thing. How I wish the internet had a more "vetted" instantiation that enforced play-by-the-rules, where participants had to be registered and anonymously certified as legit, but never exposed as to identity. It could be done with RSA encryption and https without annoying legitimate users, maybe. In a perfect world, it would take a site like Soundsbox (or whatever) and run any accesses through another site that completes the transaction, deletes the host site monitization, and sends payment to the artist.

Apologies for turning this comment into what should be a forum thread! :-)

One of the few Reggae songs I like; and I like it quite a bit.
Don't bogart that joint...pass it here.
Hey save some of that doobie for me!
This song sends me somewhere else.  It's like a fine dish where all the individual ingredients combine to create something supremely sublime.
Zzzzzzz... {#Yawn}
Saw BM (unfortunate acronym for him) in concert in Montreal in the 1970s. Great performer.

Quite possibly the most enjoyable bass run ever recorded.. Pure fun and happiness.

And here is the original :) Enjoy.

Possibly from 1967, it was written and recorded for his wife Rita. I really love the hometown sound of this total classic. Sigh. . .gives me goosebumps.
Let's get the original album cover at the top.
Does anybody still have lighter fluid on their shelf?

Love this song! Thank you RP!

I saw Bob play this live on TV in the '70s on a BBC programme called the Old Grey Whistle Test and I was just blown away.

I recently told the story to my eldest son and showed him the video and he was blown away too.

I hope that one day, I will have grandchildren who, when they are old enough, I will show them this link and watch them be blown away as well.

Peace.

Tremendous indeed. It was from a TV program called the old grey whistle test which at the time was about the only place you could see decent music on the TV in the UK. I used to watch it with mates after going to the pub and saw many, many bands and artists that have continued to influence me.

This particular video I clearly remember seeing at the time live and blew me away and it is indeed well worth watching.

I KNOW I've seen "The Old Grey Whistle Test" on TV, but for the life of me, I can't remember where - PBS in Oregon, perhaps? I think it was on in the wee hours when I was trying in vain to catch a few hours of sleep...  I don't watch much other than Public Broadcasting lately - mainstream TV is as bad as the news. RP and PBS - my venues of choice...  Thanks for the reminder, Poacher! {#Mrgreen}

love me a little rock-steady in the morning.
I think this is the best reggae album ever.  Lots of times reggae starts to sound repetitive after a few songs, at least to me.  This album doesn't do that.  Almost every Bob Marley song I like is on this CD.  Thank you Bob!

Yes, Lagavulin is my fave, but here in Canada it has gone from $50 per bottle to $124 in three years.
I remain with Islay single malts, however, such as Laphroaig and, very recently, Smokehead, which is wonderful!
