Interesting, thoughtful lyrics.
The rest—-meh.  It seems to me that it seemed like just a job to them. No magic like Gimme Shelter in this track.
And they have another album in the pipeline? Can't say I'm eager.

Charlie Watts and Son Volt ought to get together and cover "Big Generator". Wake me when it's over. Far as I'm concerned, the Stones have been dead for 20 years. Someone once joked the Steel Wheels referred to their wheelchairs...hence the Rolling Stones. Ok, I'm done punning. I'll turn it back over to trekhead. ;-)
this went by rather painlessly - about the most I can expect from the Stones these days.....I did like 'Stripped' was that what the mostly acoustic, light production album was called?
YET, I can't help but wonder why Sympathy of the Devil seems to reflect more personal passion?

Good song. Are any of these guys still alive?
I think Keith Richards has been dead since the early 80's. Nobody's told him yet.
I know I might still be a little sleepy but I definitely thought this was INXS when it first came on until I looked up at the 'Now Playing'. That bass line, even the vocals, the whole vibe...
Because it's good? 8)
I groaned when I saw the Rolling Stones on Now Playing. While there once was a time when I camped all night to (unsucessfully) score some Stones tickets, I've been pretty board by most everything I've heard from the Stones for, oh I don't know, two decades? But I generally like this. And I have no idea why.

My 1st buy was a life album of theirs that I've never found again in print - when they 1st came out '63? The sell out's the myriad concert CD Best-of collections that they've put out w/ like 1 or 2 songs on 'em that're new. Transitioning to CD, I bought a couple, & phew - not so good. The collections do not do it for me...
Great to read all the kudos to Charlie. A great drummer, and, from what the rest of the band says, a great guy. They tour only if Charlie says okay. They've also said they tour cause otherwise they miss him. And, this song is the anti-Sympathy. Think "Yeah, Oh Yeah" vs. "Whoo-hoo" in Sympathy for the Devil. Rock on you old giants.
I have to agree, Charlie Watts is a very solid drummer. Nothing fancy but keeps on tickin'.

Charlie Watts makes the Stones roll, even in his sixties. When he packs it in the Stones will be done.
Which was almost the case, but not quite yet, fortunately!
Good song. Are any of these guys still alive?
UPLOAD TSO!
This is an excellent tune from an excellent album. I think a lot of people like to slag the Stones because they are rich, famous, popular and old. Who cares? They are inargueably a great rock and roll band. They've been going in and out of fashion for forty years, but their music never fails to deliver. And Keith might outlive us all!

No ti is not a sellout...unfortunately, we ALL humans beings, change with age...Our belief system, our messages and our music somehow settledowns...
I was always amazed at a couple tracks on this album. ... some good tunes.

I think this was the true beginning of the complete and utter sellout.

generally strained. but I kind of like this last part.
A wise friend of mine once said, "Every sinner has a future, and every saint has a past." In the discussions below, about the consistency of the quality of Stones albums over the latter decades; make you wonder how many CDs worth of shit that they still have in the can, that is going to be as good as Sticky Fingers or Exile... Even if they only have great singles once in a while, WTF? We should all be so lucky as to be living their lives at that age.
Charlie Watts makes the Stones roll, even in his sixties. When he packs it in the Stones will be done.
good old gritty rock n' roll as only the twins can do it :propeller.gif:
damn. :x ...I really wanted him to be a saint.

Clearly an INXS rip-off! :p
More like a mixture of 3 parts INXS with 2 parts U2 & diluted 'till its totally tasteless.
Clearly an INXS rip-off! :p
Gotcha! (pimp)
Never heard this before. Strangely, I kinda like it! The guitar and drums make it.

Actually, I think he made a sire of himself. He's got at least a couple of kids boppin' around....
Brit Rock theology ? Saint Mick? Has he got there yet? How\'s the prophecy? Is he now called St. Mick?
I think I could probably live happily for the rest of my life if I never again heard any more pop theology from the Rolling Stones....

Still does!
intro sounds like a \"World Party\" song. Goes down hill after that.
Keith amazes me - everytime.
You know, just when you\'ve given up on them they come out with something you just can\'t ignore like this. Amazing, although I couldn\'t bring myself to buy the album. I just have too many of the later ones sitting ruefully collecting dust...
Well, they made a Sire of him, that's for sure.
OK, they\'re older than my mother-in-law. But this song just KICKS ASS. :D :D :D

I agree completely. Individual songs are pretty much as good as it gets (this one's excellent), but you get disappointed by the overall album.

Simple yet strong. Quite excellent indeed!
Best Stones I thinnk I\'ve ever heard. And I heard it here first! Imagine that!
While I don\'t think The Stones will ever again reach the heights of \"Let It Bleed\", or \"Satannic Majesty...\" or even \"Emotional Rescue\" or \"Some Girls\", but they still occasionally put out a classic song, if not a classic album. This IS a great song, and has a cool melody. Sure it\'s not their best work, but you can\'t hold them to such a high standard, or you will always be disappointed. Take it for what it is: another Stones hit!
Bridges didn\'t really do it for me, and this song pretty much is the run of the mill Mick stuff he tends to put on his solo efforts. Now let\'s go back to Some Girls if we want a true Bridge to Babylon... :p
Maybe we can make a saint of Keith, then?
I know I\'m not alone - one of my favorite Stone\'s tunes.
