He got lucky, got lucky one time
Hitting with the girl in room five oh nine
She turned her back on him facing the frame
Said, "Listen Joe don't you come here again"

White sun scattered all over the sea
He could think of nothing but her name Elise
God is the sweat running down his back
The water soaked her blonde hair black

It's a perfect day
A perfect day, Elise

He got burned by the sun
(He's a lucky man)
His face so pale and his hands so worn
(And the sky)
Let himself in room five oh nine
(As she turned away)
Said a prayer, pulled the trigger and cried
(Tell me why)

It's a perfect day
A perfect day, Elise

Ah oh, It's a perfect day
A perfect day, Elise

I could swear I'm hearing some heavy pulsing of this song on the eighth notes... I was getting a bit of a headache from it.

Real perfect would be a night in PJ!

Not creepy at all.
Iggy Pop’s Natural Daughter.
What a talent she is - more, please 👍 'Angelene' is another fab one of hers, in keeping with songs with names 👌

I'll 2nd that!! Yum!! I mean, what's in a name?!!? As long as one is IN!!!!

PJ  Harvey  has many great rock songs that
never really got the airplay they deserved
RP....rock on .....and  on..
Ah yes. This is what it sounds like when your lover turns angry, and focuses all their attention directly on.....you.

American Net'Zen
It's a big wall of sound.  Love it.
Edgy as Hell, and, man, this gal sounds pretty pissed-off, and not without reason. PJ and RP continue to surprise me in so many ways.
Really a very good song.  I read the lyrics for the first time during this spin. Raised it to a nine.
My all-time favorite PJH song! Thank you!
Love the sonic wall.
Enjoying me some PJ.... thanks RP

I am in my PJ's every night by 9pm.  So there.  And my bunny slippers are warm too!

Edgy ... nice ...

There are few artists I loathe, but PJ is one of them. The Doors are the only other ones to leap to mind at the moment.

Well, that's probably the only thing those two recording artists have in common.
Too short!

PJ always hits the right note lyrically and emotionally. Good job!

Great to hear more of Polly Jean's work on RP.  (Insert dancing banana emoticon here!)

Good song from a very good album I give it a 7. It's showing the wrong album here - the correct album is Is This Desire?. Uh Huh Her is her current release.

! Old release too, but still wrong!
The more I hear of Polly Jean, the more I like her.  How is it I've never heard of her until the last year?  Oh well, better late than never.  Thanks, Bill!

The same Elise as "Letter to Elise"?

Yeah, and she hangs out with Charlotte sometimes.

Thought this was Heather Nova at first.
The same Elise as "Letter to Elise"?
A Perfect Day, coding to music!
Perfect ambiance. Dark to a fault.

Nice coinage. Like the song, including the freaky production.
Sounds like an old cassette that sat in the sun too long.
Wow, that was a great transition between Silversun Pickups to PJ Harvey...those two tracks go together really well.
this is a really good song. hmmm

A favorite - yes... very intense. It rides right up my spine that way.

Polly Jean rocks!!!! Why isn't she playing Lollapalooza?!? They kinda forgot to include women in the lineup.
Don't they usually?
Kick-ass bass!
Yes, this is Desire
Very cool track :)

Good song, but best appreciated when listening to the album as a whole. That's the wrong album cover, BTW.

Great to hear this song on RP. The CD I have does sound a bit less fuzzy than this MP3 though. Its still rough, but this MP3 sounds thinner than most of what I hear on RP. FYI

You're kidding. Is this file funky, or is that raggedy/distorted/scratched/irritating sound part of the package?
Intentional.
it's a perfect song. :-)
Fantastic tune! PJ Harvey is one of the all-time greats imo. She gets compared to Patti Smith (whom I love) but I think PJ is even more brilliant. Play more PJ!

It's nearly two AM. I'm still working but just about to pack it in. On comes PJ Harvey. I go back to work, loving it --- don't know the lyrics, but the music is inspiring.

so this song is featured on the jeff foxworthy cd? that seems rather odd......
Because the Amazon search doohicky starts a search based on the album name entered, with the song's other data, into the RP library, and whoever uploaded this song just put in "single" as the album title. And the two Amazon links to pop up here both contain that word in their album titles. here is a RP-Amazon link to the album, Is This Desire?

I love this PJ track. Can someone splain to me why those two album links are posted along with it? I can't see her song on either...

I haven't listened to much of her stuff at all ----- after hearing this I'm definitely going to pick up something on disc. Suggestions from PJ fans on a "if you only have one CD of hers, this is it" most welcome.
Personally, any one of "To Bring You My Love", "Is this Desire" or "Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea" is a sure thing. I also like her first few albums. But if I absolutely would have to go with one only, her latest (Stories...) is pretty darn good.

Oh man, hearing this right after Sarah McLachlan, well, it blows Sarah away...
PJ Rocks! Dots in mp3 title incorrect ;) Uploaded 3 songs from Dry, her debut album...
awesome song! this was my first "crack hit" that got me hooked on Ms. Harvey..nice to hear it coming across the wire from Paradise...
Polly Jean's using both sides of her brain again. <-- This is a GOOD head-banging.
Darn, I missed it.
Great song, for me the strongest on the record. It\'s too short, though.
This song still knocks me on my ass every time I hear it. Awesome.
Damn, she\'s good.
Never till I heard some of her stuff did I want to be able to have sex with a voice. Daaaaaaaamnnnnnn sexy
i just love this song. almost everything about it. thanks for continuing to play Polly Jean.
