Before I let you down again
I just want to see you in your eyes
I would have taken everything out on you
I only thought you could understand

They say every man goes blind in his heart
And they say everybody steals somebody's heart away
And I've got nothing more to say about it
Nothing more than you would me

Send me your flowers of your december
Send me your dreams of your candy wine
I got just one thing I can't give you
Just one more thing of mine

They say every man goes blind in his heart
They say everybody steals somebody's heart away
And I've been wondering why you let me down
And I been taking it all for granted

The same thing happens with this group that happens with Jethro Tull. Mazzy Star is not the name of the woman who sings for this group. Her name is Hope Sandoval. Just as Jethro Tull's lead singer is Ian Anderson. Sorry to be git about this, but it is a pet peeve of mine. Thanks for listening!

And by the way, which one is Pink?

so Hope Sandoval (aka Mazzy Star) is playing a show at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston... and the crowd is getting restless... it is a very dimly lit show (at the artist's request) and a lot of people were there to see Hope b/c they heard she was cute... not a shadow on stage.. so a bit into the show a quiet crowd started chit-chatting, drinking at the bar and what-not. Mazzy stopped the show and started complaining about the crowd being too loud. Someone shouted out "We love you Hope!" to which she replied: "I don't need you to love me. I need you to SHUT THE F**K UP!" Amazingly bizarre moment out of all the live shows I've worked/seen. Almost the whole crowd turned on her. She was very apologetic after the show and is a TOTAL SWEETHEART in person. Just an off night I guess.

superflyLD if you're still out there.... We attended such a show years ago in NYC, former Bottom Line club in the village... Michelle Shocked, who my wife & I both adore(d).

Note to self: if you're ever a musician, do not turn on the crowd. They're much bigger than you.

And this also demonstrates how RP listeners-commenters tend to be far more civil than the rest of the webiverse. I braced myself for: "... but then this came on so I'm not contributing!!" which let's face it would be typical of too much social media commentary.

RP Forever! That's a tattoo you'll never need to cover up.

Interesting. I think it was taking mine off that enabled William to read my mind...
This album was so much a part of my freshman year of college.  bitter sweet memoires.
The band is just fantastic
That is really what I think
Oh by the way, which one's Mazzy?
I don't associate this song with any particular event in my life, but it provokes such an emotional response.
Amazing piece of music.

RIP Dave Roback, super-talented and gone way too soon. Just read the news on Twitter as I was listening to this from My Favorites.

Just heard Bill mentioned it was RP's 20th anniversary.   I only wish that someone had told me twenty years ago.  Many congratulations to you and Rebbecca - great achievement, which has hit the spot for so many of us.
I love this band. Hope Sandoval's vocal style just sends me...
Definitely sounded like Neil Young playing that harmonica.
Great band!

Intro is very much like  Cowboy Junkies but I like it just the same.
I see your curves and
I feel your vibrations
You dressed in black and white,
you lost in the mall
Wow!

But is that the non Drowsy version?
So what's wrong with a little relaxation once in a while? And I agree, there is an air if Neil Young about this.
Yep, you can always tell Mazzy Star's distinctive voice and delivery. The first signs are usually the head drooping, followed by eyelids lowering and a creeping sleepiness that moves towards a waking coma. Better for insomnia than a bottle of extra strength Dreamy Sleepy Nighty Snoozey-Snooze. Pure aural Mogadon. 3 from the soporific Nottingham jury {#Sleep}
This is sweet stuff.{#Cheers}

I keep waiting to hear Neil doubling her with his keening falsetto.

I really like her voice and their sound. Good choice on this one. Very Neil Young -ish on the harmonica too.
so so beautiful

nice voice .Perhaps her mother was french ?
oh where oh where can my baby be....
With the right song being performed and recorded as good as this, such an economical instrumentation is more than enough.

Then you HAVE to get 'she hangs brightly' - it is the best one!
I always want to hug Hope when I hear her sing. I miss this band.

Watch out for this pic. NSFW! :) https://www.mrouth.com/ballscopy.jpg
The harmonica is about as good as Alanis M. Yikes! Otherwise a pretty good song. Some people should just step away from the blues harp, okay?
Hope and this song are both delicious
