Yup.  And plenty of "Shame on You" by the Indigo Girls.  (But me likey.)
Never Heard This!  Nice!
it's fun to look up who you think you are hearing

Wow, talk about a flashback!. Gonna go dig this CD out and play it again right now.

What is interesting is that on Spoti this get 19,769 plays where the lame "Wouldn't it be good" gets 46,225,684. Yes, really. check it out.

....and while there do listen to the "No Frills" album. And please come back to RP after that. (Bill is going to kill me)
This happens to give me goose bumbs. Call me cheap.
Such a great track right before your about to start work.....day isn't looking too bad at all now...everything is alright now!
This song makes my soul smile!

Have you read the lyrics? Dodging or evading a terrible thing may not be the same as a definition of happiness.        But I'm not dancing on your floor...

And the other two, for me at least, would be "Don't Stop Me Now" from Queen, and "Sing, Sing, Sing" from the Benny Goodman Orchestra.  Both tracks, and now this one from Nik, sure to put me in a happy mood.

Interesting juxtaposition of the lyrics to happy music. I like it. Live in the moment!

And more from his album 15 MINUTES please... to me still the best singer-songwriter stuff he has done so far!
I am getting a lot of quality canning done listening to the amazing set Bill has going this afternoon.
Nik Kershaw is criminally undervalued.  A fantastic songwriter, handy guitar player, capable of silly froth and great depth.  More NIK.
If you had to to choose a track to define happiness, this would be amongst the top 3 contenders.

Facile and false equivalence.  Both great songs, both very different.
I never heard this song before RP, and I'm not sure I ever would have.

Thank G-D for this station!
La La Bamba
How can your foot not tap to this song? This is a great tune in my opinion.

What a jaunty nice tune. But it deserves much better lyrics. Anyone telling me we won't make it gets dumped.

That's 2KW of peak Bryston power playing through a pair of Magnepan 3.6s plus another 1.5KW from the Paradigm Servo 15.

I don't push my system that hard very often. 100dB is not good for the ears, and I want to listen to RP until Bill and I are very old men.

However, this song begs me to crank it every time.

Wow!  Awesome sound system!!!!
It's not often I love happy songs...but I Iove this one!   {#Bananapiano}
Like it.  Horn section is strutting, and enough percussion to smartly carry the big band sound.
a well crafted song.

This just sounds so happy

{#Bananapiano}
"Bee's wax... biscuit tin... tarmac... mobile phone... keyboard... 3 piece suite... carrot sticks... how long have we gotta make this track?... salad spinner... yard brush... steering wheel..."
A blazing horn section always cheers me up . . .
After thinking him just anither 80's has been, I worked on gig with him and found him engaging, articulate and intelligent, a great songwriter and perfomer. A thoroughly good egg. Bump up that score ! ^

Para bailar La Bamba
se necesita ...
un grupo Mexicano ...
and you ain't it {#Dance}

Muy buena versión ... {#Cheers}
Grows on me every time.  Cheesy, but nice cheese.  I'm thinking a nice Emmental, slightly rubbery but very moreish none the less
My ears perk up whenever this rolls around.
Stuff of my youth.
This multi-instrumentalist has made some other fun songs too...
Maybe some other time on RP?
Joy!
Nik Kershaw has a lot of good music on his older CD's
Not only is it good to hear this, but the Progression of Beats in the last hour or so has been PHENOMENAL and YOU DA MAN, BILL, and your team merits mighty high praise!  Keep it coming, thanks!

I prefer his older stuff -  that may be too much of a stretch for playing here. But, "Wouldn't It Be Good?"

yes, I would have to agree, always impressed by Bill's selections...good to hear an 80's name that can produce a song that still sounds good today!

Any brit (sufficiently old) will remember Nick Kershaw for "Wouldn't it be good", but its nice to hear something else (anything else) from him. Perhaps we've been a little harsh over here in seeing him as a one-hit wonder from the distant past.

You mean the "Wouldn't It Be Good" where Kershaw's cadence and tone makes Nick Cave seem like Joey Ramone in comparison?

This is nice, but let's let some of that stuff stay buried. Sealed

I know where you are coming from. Whenever I listen to "Another brick in the wall" I'm pretty sure that at one point Waters proclaims, "All in all you're just another prick in the hole." I guess that's pretty much how we all get our start.

This has me wondering whether or not, at least once in the song—e.g. around the 70-second mark—he substitutes the word "cunt-struck" for the expected "dumb-struck". I'm pretty sure I'm not reading into the song's lyrics (hearing what I want to hear, or what hasn't been sung), as I'd never heard the word before it spun my ear around. If the word is present—even once—then that's pretty brassy.

This one gets allot of airplay on RP. I enjoy it each time I hear it!

I wouldn't have picked this out of a Nik Kershaw lineup. Poppy. Fun. Irrelevant.

As Nik famously sang in Wouldn't It Be Good: "Don't wanna be here no more..."

This has to be one of Bill's favorite songs.  One of mine too.  Never fails to put a smile on my face.

Here are the lyrics:
We're wounded but walking, dumbstruck but talking still
And I don't think we've made it, don't think we ever will
We're radio rental, so accidental too
And I don't think we've made it don't care if we ever do

Smashed in, crashed out
Spun around, messed about
Can't get up for falling down
Heh come and join the zoo

Shell shocked, red raw
Punch drunk, saddle sore
Forest Gump at heaven's door
Just looking for a clue

We're wounded but walking, dumbstruck but talking still
And I don't think we've made it, don't think we ever will
We're radio rental, so accidental too
And I don't think we've made it don't care if we ever do

Love bite, bee sting
Heavy heart, broken string
Never mind, cos everything
Yeah everything is alright now

I love Nik Kershaw. I have two of his albums and can't figure out why he is not more popular in the U. S. I can't think of a bad song on either album.

Oh, dang - dancing... Love this. I'm not so critical of content and artistic integrity these days. If it makes me smile, or dance, or feel less pessimistic about life, I just embrace it.  And Nik Kershaw?  Total no-brainer. I love his music.
