Say you were split, you were split in fragments
And none of the pieces would talk to you
Wouldn't you want to be who you had been
Well, baby I want that too
So better take the keys and drive forever
Staying won't put these futures back together
All the perfect drugs and superheroes
Wouldn't be enough to bring me up to zero
Baby, you're great, you've been more than patient
Saying it's not a catastrophe
But I'm not the girl you once put your faith in
Just someone who looks like me
So better take the keys and drive forever
Staying won't put these futures back together
All the perfect drugs and superheroes
Wouldn't be enough to bring me up to zero
So get out while you can
Get out while you can
Baby I'm pouring quicksand
And sinking is all I had planned
So better just go
Oh better take the keys and drive forever
Staying won't put these futures back together
All the perfect drugs and superheroes
Wouldn't be enough to bring me up to zero
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put baby together again
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put baby together again
And none of the pieces would talk to you

Easily one of the absolute best voices in Music! Aimee makes what she does seem so effortless. What a great use of Heavenly talent!

Not so sure I'm 100% with you on the voice thing but, Mann -o- Mann, what an incredible song writer. Either way, really, what's not to love!?

A great example of singer/songwriter talent - a 9 on the way to 10.
This is the most cheerful AM song I have ever heard, and yet I still feel like diving head-first into a swarm of angry hornets.

very nice album throughout this one..
Having been listening to this CD a lot lately, possibly too much, I must note how well crafted her sounds are. This is a fine example. There are multiple layers of meaning and thought embedded in her best songs. It was not till I found RP that this realization emerged.
Cheerful little ditty on this Saturday morning. Quite a good song, actually.
I love the Badfinger ending.
Bill, You need to check out "The Both" - Aimee Mann and Ted Leo new Band/CD. Some good stuff on there!!
That voice..............breaking me out of the zone again......turning my head......turn up the volume..........
Love Aimee...

Love it. Great tunesmith.
Nothing like being caught in the zeitgeist: last week I decided, after too many years, to look into this CD and found it used for a song. That evening I decided to give Portlandia another chance, having been underimpressed by the pilot. Of course, the next episode was entitled Aimee Mann. Some things are meant to be. Not all her songs are great but she manages some very good work.
Some Harrisonian guitar at the beginning.
Love Aimee
I was going to buy this, but I see I already own it!
This continues to be one of the greatest songs of all time. A big, fat 10.
Very nice!
Aimee Mann is great. Wasn't really aware of her before I started listening to RP a few years ago (I know, where had I been?).

I have a soft spot for tall blond female bass players who can mesmerize with song. Dig it!

She's hot and sounds good. Definitely a bonus.
Great segue - very Harrisonian guitar.

On the 4th of July I usually want to party so we're checking out and going iTunes. Catch ya later.
Such a finely crafted song. Thanks, RP — you're playing excellent music this Monday morning!
Nice!

This album is my very favorite of Aimee's by far. A close second is the St. Ann's Warehouse live set.
Extremely listenable, front to back. It craves to be sung along with.

Prolly one of my favs from miss Mann.
Recently saw her in a small club where she played the songs handed to her by the audience on stray pieces of paper. It was really fun. And her three "man" band played marvelously.

Aimee Mann, gotta lover her...so complex, so amazing. Then you have those George Harrison riffs...
OK, if there can also be a law against pointing out playlist repetitions and chord progression similarities between songs and other such wastes of bandwidth.

Aimee Mann's singing and song writing are a great combination of music, lyrics, vocals and artistic commentary on life. She's a TRUE artist.
My very first Album was Til Tuesday. My mom bought it for my 6th birthday. (My mom was cool) I would swing in my backyard singing at the top of my lungs with Aimee blasting on my Boombox:) I have been addicted ever since. She is my intro to music. (a little Cyndi Lauper too)
Thank you for a great lineup this morning, Bill!
Aimee Mann is coming to town in a few weeks and she sold out before I heard about it...she's great live! The perfect mix of talent, witty comments between songs, and potty mouth. Sigh.

"My hero, Zero, such a funny little hero,
But till you came along,

Why we could never reach a star,
Without you, Zero, my hero,
How wonderful you are."
Schoolhouse Rock, of course. You don't want to make a law against schoolhouse rock, man.

Me too. Marry me, Aimee. Drive me nuts. Love and destroy me and write fantastic songs about what a dreadful loser I am. What a gifted craftswoman of melody and riff and lick. I do adore her.
I love Aimee Mann. No seriously. I. Love. Her.
Back in the day, she'd occasionally hang out at the Tam O' Shanter, a long since closed bar in Brookline, Mass. Once, I saw her....oh about 1993, pointed at her in a drunken stupor and yelled, "Hush hush, voices carry." It didn't go over very well. But it's so exciting to see how far she has progressed musically.

What a great song... I remember already liking her on "Voices carry" (Till Tuesday), but that was nothing compared to this gem! The whole album is absolute superb. All songs from this album should have a place here on RP! This whole album has become one of my all time favorites. The fact that she not only sung everything (what a voice!) but also wrote most AND played much of it makes her a creative genius. A definite 10 for ALL songs.
