Go, go, go, go now
Out of the nest, it's time
Go, go, go now
Circus girl without a safety net
Here, here now, don't cry
You raised your hand for the assignment
Tuck those ribbons under your helmet
Be a good soldier
First my left foot then my right behind the other
Pantyhose running in the cold
Mother, the car is here
Somebody leave the light on
Green limousine for the redhead
Dancing, dancing girl
And when I dance for him
Somebody leave the light on
Just in, just in case I like the dancing
I can remember where I come from
I walked into your dream
And now I've forgotten how to dream my own dream
You are the clever one aren't you
Brides in veils for you
We told you all of our secrets
All but one and don't you even try
The phone has been disconnected
Dripping with blood and with time and with your advice
Poison me against the moon
Mother, the car is here
Somebody leave the light on
Black chariot for the redhead
Dancing, dancing girl
He's going to change my name
Maybe you'll leave the light on
Just in, just in case I like the dancing
I can remember where I come from
I escape into
Your escape into
Our very favourite fearscape
It's across the sky
And across my heart
And I crossed my legs
Oh my god
First my left foot then my right behind the other
Breadcrumbs lost under the snow
Mother
Mother, the car is here, here
Maybe, maybe you'll leave the light on
For the, for the, for the dancing girl
He's going to change my name
Maybe you'll leave the light
Just in case I like the dancing
I can remember where I come, come from
Mother, mother, mother
Out of the nest, it's time

MOTHER F'er, that song blows. I'm sorry, let me rephrase. I THINK that song blows. It's wrong to assert one's opinions as fact. I'm sorry, let me rephrase. I THINK it's wrong to assert one's opinions as fact.
I was LOVING the set (Los Lincas, Simon & Garfunkel , Moonlight Sonata ) then Tori Anus... YUCK
Unfortunately I can appreciate the quality of her voice and teh production, yet her singing does nothing for me.... Ho hum..
Walked past the computer and this horrible noise was coming out of the headphones. Checked to make sure nothing was wrong but no, it was just Tori Amos. At least it reminded me to turn off the music player.
Absolutely beautiful album. Just be sure to check your mood before listening. So much texture that can bring the pain of things missed and times lost back to the forefront . But, then again, there's times we all need to go through a bit of catharsis.

Doesn't quite cut it after the preceding Beethoven...
What does? Still, brilliant to a different degree. jahroots wrote:

Agreed, although I rate it a 9. ;)
I have really tried to like Tori. Only song I ever cared for is "Cornflake Girl". She just seems so contrived.

Pukeworthy.

Smooth piano transition from Philip Glass-Opening to this one.

Tori Amos has done some awesome stuff, and hearing her on RP was the bomb. I can't hardly believe that there's a somewhere that will happily play Tori, Harry Manx, right along with all these other bands I've never heard of, and old favs (can anyone spot the new RP listener?).
Now that I'm used to what Tori Amos sounds like, it's hard to remember how revolutionary her style and sound and writing approach was -- there was nothing else in the world like Little Earthquakes when it came out, while there's been others in a related vien nothing quite like it since. Definately agree strongly on the "not for everyone" point though -- good things there's something for everyone here :)
RP is really a tough crowd for female vocalists... 8-<

Great segue from Philip Glass's "Opening".
I agree (happened again). Terrific piano. Wish I weren't worn-out on the vocals.

Painful!
I love the intro to this song. It's one of my favorites from Little Earthquakes, and although Tori isn't for everyone, she's amazing.
Gorgeous piano, as usual.
Stark piano, confessional voice. Some dislike and others praise her dark stories.
I find it a good set; Simon & Garfunkel, Beethoven and Amos.
