You keep saying you've got something for me
Something you call love, but confess
You've been a-messin' where you shouldn'ta been a-messin'
And now someone else is gettin' all your best

These boots are made for walkin'
And that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you
''Yeah''

You keep lying when you oughta be truthin'
And you keep losin' when you oughta not bet
You keep samin' when you oughta be a-changin'
Now what's right is right, but you ain't been right yet

These boots are made for walkin'
And that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you

You keep playin' where you shouldn't be playin'
And you keep thinkin' that you'll never get burned, ha!
I just found me a brand new box of matches, yeah
And what he knows, you ain't had time to learn

These boots are made for walkin'
And that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you

''Are you ready boots?
Start walkin'!''

There are many contenders to that title, but this song transcends the talent and offers plenty to anyone who gives it a go. Agree that her range in here is microscopic, but it fits the song. The simple composition, bass line, and straightforward lyrics carry it to the "Let's get walkin'" conclusion, and ultimately, who doesn't want to go?
One of the biggest no-talents in history.
This is in my DNA
I was six years old when this came out and I liked it  'Hey, it was a song about boots!  so much better than all those love songs!' and the descending guitar riff bridge was cool - not that I would have understood any words outside of "guitar" and "cool".  I recall my father making some reference to her voice versus Frank Sinatra.  "Who is Frank Sinatra?" I asked.
When I was a kid my parents owned a burger joint next door to our house. This song came out in 66 when I was 8.  I can still remember this song playing on the juke box.  I get the visual of the college kids in there, burgers frying, soda fountain ....{#Hungry}
This was back in the day, and still is, one of the worst songs of all time and I wish RP would scratch it from the play list. Please.
Came here on psd. I haven't heard this in years. Decades.
Album cover: in that fuzzy '66-ish photo she has a somewhat freaky resemblance to what my cousin, then 20-ish, looked like at about the same time.
Also, the titles on that cover: just that. Could she squeeze a few more cover songs between those boots?

I recently watched it on Netflix.  Great documentary!  Amazing to hear how many songs The Wrecking Crew were involved with.

Your mom must be friends with mine.  I am not sure how many times she saw Frank, but she loves his singing, thinks he was a bit of an ass as a person.  Also the mafia ties did not hurt, he sang is some places that you had to figure were paybacks for earlier favors.
Definitely not worth the amount of vinyl it was pressed on.
In this song more from Lee Hazlewood, than nancy Sinatra. Much more. :)

Blechh!
I will always associate this song with the film "Full metal jacket". Stanley Kubrick was always a genius in linking music with his movies.
I had to log in and give this a 10.  LOL.  So bad, its good.
this will now forever be associated in my mind with the scene in "Big Love" after Alby's lover commits suicide.
This was a novelty song when it came out and should have disappeared 30 minutes later. Why do people keep playing this trash? I just don't get it.
Apparently the song was originally written for Frank, but the consensus was that it was inappropriate for a man to sing about putting the boots to a woman (hmm, ya think?) and so Frank suggested Nancy give it a shot. Of course this could just be a rumour that never died. Either way, love it or hate it, we're still listening to it half a century later.
This was one of the worst song, if not the worst, in 1966 and it still is. RP, please scratch this from your playlist.

I gotta agree that this song would have disappeared (in fact may not have ever been recorded) had she not been Frank's daughter.  But then I'm not a big fan of Frank's either. TB is much better. Frank probably would have had a lesser career w/o his Mafia backing.

"...this song ... may not have been recorded had she not been Frank's daughter."
Possibly, however it's a fun and catchy tune, written by Lee Hazlewood, and perfectly suited to the times in which it was written. If not Nancy then someone would have recorded it and had a hit...

Exactly.
Ballad of the Red Baron please
Love this! I distinctly remember when this song first came out. Would have been 10 or 11 years old.
Well, the bass is kinda cool.
...gets a 10 just cuz it pisses off the "purists" that apparently need to be running their own radio stations...and cuz I'm having mad flashbacks of some long lost variety show (Sullivan? Smothers Brothers? Red Skelton?) and go-go boots...i love you bill and rebecca!{#Bananasplit}

Again, your opinion, fair enough, but logically I don't think it's supportable. I think you (and you wouldn't be the first) overestimate Frank's powers here. This is not the only song she recorded but it's the primary one that's survived, and I submit, on the strength of its own merits. As time goes on her parentage means less and less and her work stands on its own.

"Frank probably would have had a lesser career w/o his Mafia backing."
I don't see how this is possible. I'm not saying he didn't get breaks and backing early on, sure, but so did others (this is pretty-well accepted if never proven). After that though it was up to fans to get him where he got. Those he earned the hard way (and, apparently, "his way"). Had you said his career might never have been launched I'd be less inclined to disagree.

You have a perfect right to your own musical tastes and you have the right to share your opinions publicly here courtesy of Bill and Rebecca. I have no objections if you dislike this song or Nancy or Frank Sinatra (or any song or artist). I just don't think the statements you've made square with reality.
For one of the most jarring covers ever, listen to THIS version of "These Boots."
An early Beyonce? Such a classic for those days and that "Go Go" generation
probably my favorite song to hate,
it really sucks, and always has!!!
WTF??  Bill, are you perhaps pushing the eclecticism boundaries too far?  {#Yes}
"You keep lyin' when you ought to be truthin'...HA!"

You go Nancy...walk all over me!

Nancy Sinatra - "These Boots Are Made For Walking" Live (1966):

Lee Hazlewood has his time and did write some great tunes, here is a web site to visit https://www.somevelvetmorning.net/

He was "a real radio rebel" in his own right!

This is a picture if Him with "Elvis" and his daughter (Debbie). She so happens to be married to a good friend of mine. She does have some great "stories" indeed!

Good Day and Hello from Harris Neck Georgia!

There aren't all that many posts that make me literally "LOL" but this one did!

in the same sense that every rank amateur snapshot photographer has one museum quality picture in their shoebox we have the no talent amateur Sinatra spawn who created one of pop musics all time greats.

Yeah, like Nancy's and Lee Hazelwood's duet on their 1968 psychedelic ballad, Some Velvet Morning. With crazed lyrics like, "Some Velvet Morning when I'm straight/I'm going to open up your gate. This song got a lot of airplay back in early '68, including the Big 610 KFRC and Boss Radio KHJ in LA.
