Ooh, stop

With your feet on the air and your head on the ground
Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Your head will collapse, and there's nothing in it
And you'll ask yourself

Where is my mind?
Where is my mind?
Where is my mind?
(Where is my mind?)
(Where is my mind?)
(Where is my mind?)
Way out in the water, see it swimmin'

I was swimmin' in the Caribbean
Animals were hidin' behind the rock
Except the little fish bumped into me
I swear he was trying to talk to me coy koi

Where is my mind?
Where is my mind?
Where is my mind?
(Where is my mind?)
(Where is my mind?)
(Where is my mind?)
Way out in the water, see it swimmin'

With your feet on the air and your head on the ground
Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Your head'll collapse, and there's nothing in it
And you'll ask yourself

Where is my mind?
Where is my mind?

(Where is my mind?)
(Where is my mind?)
Way out in the water, see it swimmin'

Ooh
With your feet on the air and your head on the ground
Ooh

I love how William and The Pixies adamantly insist on emphasizing how we should all be more MINDFUL...

Easy 7 and watch the buildings collapse
For me, the sounds made by the lead guitar are like fingernails on a chalkboard.

For another, it may be exactly the song that inspired them to feed their goldfish or something.

love this!! any RP peeps hip to BobbyBare JRs cover?
If there was one song that’s always stayed relevant to my life over the decades, it would be this one.

This music shaped my youth. It was in Fight Club so I'm not the only one.
So simple, so charismatic. Genius.
135 1-votes? No Pixies song deserves that - especially this one.
Check out Puddles’ cover of this!

Alien Sex Fiend
The Pixies, Frank Black, Black Francis...all entertaining. Their music was one of few universally liked by the line crew at the Mexican restaurant I worked at back in the days. A tough job to do well - music always helped
"Next up we have the Pixies who seem to have misplaced something." Great intro, Bill!

I hate when I'm switching back and forth between SolidWorks and AutoCad on two screens.  Zoom wheel is opposite and hotkeys aren't the same.  Adds to the mental gymnastics.  There's probably a setting for flipping the zoom wheel somewhere, or I could just stop using AutoCad and switch to whatever that program is that SolidWorks makes that they keep claiming works just as well with AutoCad drawings but doesn't actually.

Add some Creo Parametric into the mix and you'll never find your mind.
The perfect song for a dormitory hall when everybody's been studying too long for finals and everybody wants to wail and smash shit.

Fact.

Facebook pulled my YT link for obscenity when I posted a track from this album because of the cover. At the same time the Pixies official FB page had the album cover as their avatar. Go figure.

All the artwork from this album is stunning. Everything about this album is near perfect.

Following the band's breakup in 1993, he embarked on a solo career under the name Frank Black.[3] After releasing two albums with record label 4AD and one with American Recordings, he left the label and formed a new band, Frank Black and the Catholics. He re-adopted the name Black Francis in 2007.
All this time I thought Modest Mouse was unique.  Now I know where their influence comes from.  I like both; but a bit disappointed with Modest Mouse.

"funny how when a song's average rating gets near 8, the comments turn desperately negative."

Interesting observation that. You're on to something there I'm certain. Going to have to ponder that one some. Not true of course that all of the comments turn negative but the frequency of negative comments (which is OK), and the level of insult (which is not OK), definitely increase.

"It's sometimes disappointing to find out you're old, I guess."

Could be true for some of them I reckon. I dunno, that smacks of insult too I think. Not probably true for the majority of negativisers though I'm thinking. I'm pretty sure there's a fair dose of the "it can't be good if it's popular" attitude in there too. The correlation between good and popular is pretty weak. Good does not guarantee popular, nor does popular guarantee good, it's possible for a song to be both, neither, or any combination of the two. And "good" being a subjective evaluation complicates things further.

In any case we're speculating on the reasons why but I agree with your observation that negative comments often increase with higher ratings, and I too sense there is frequently a desperate quality to them. And I too wonder why that is.

UGH! Why did I read all that?
