Walking 'round the room singing Stormy Weather
At 57 Mount Pleasant Street
Well it's the same room, but everything's different
You can fight the sleep, but not the dream

Things ain't cookin' in my kitchen
Strange affliction wash over me
Julius Caesar and the Roman Empire
Couldn't conquer the blue sky

Well, there's a small boat made of china
It's going nowhere on the mantlepiece
Well, do I lie like a loungeroom lizard
Or do I sing like a bird released?

Everywhere you go, you always take the weather with you
Everywhere you go, you always take the weather
Everywhere you go, you always take the weather with you
Everywhere you go, you always take the weather, the weather with you

Everywhere you go, you always take the weather with you
Everywhere you go, you always take the weather
Everywhere you go, you always take the weather with you
Everywhere you go, you always take the weather, take the weather, the weather with you

Everywhere you go, you always take the weather with you
Everywhere you go, you always take the weather
Everywhere you go, you always take the weather with you
Everywhere you go, you always take the weather, take the weather, the weather with you

A pleasant enough toe tapping tune but the lyrics lead nowhere and are inconclusive.
Lovely song. A ten.

Try listening to Smooth FM. YUK!
I received this cd when I was part of a record club in the 90s. I had never heard of Crowded House at the time, but decided to give it a try. Wow. This album blew me away. With song after incredible song, this album is one you want to listen to start to finish. That said, each track also stands strong on it's own, like when you hear them here. The lyrics, the incredible harmonies of the Finn brothers and the overall musicianship on the entire album - astonishing. In my top ten favorite albums of all time.

And Jimmy Buffett liked it well enough to do a nice cover of it...

You're a moron. They're a NZ band - we have BBQ at Christmas. No thanksgiving. No turkeys. You are the only turkey here it seems.
Just an all in all delightful song!

I usually like anything done by CH and/or the Finn bros, but this one always makes me think it's an advert for the Weather Channel...

Haven't heard this in years.  Sound much better today than I remember it.  An "8".
Saw them at the 9:30 Club on the Woodface tour--the only time Tim Finn toured with the House. Interesting band dynamics. Crowded House was very much Neil's band as much as Split Enz was Tim's, but you could tell that Tim wasn't used to not being in charge. Neil shot him a look from time to time, as much a warning as brotherly affection. Pretty funny. Great live band.

the only thing better than this song, is Four seasons in one day.

I live in Melbourne (and used to live in Auckland) so I was curious where '57 Mount Pleasant Street' might be; Auckland or Melbourne? I Googled '57 Mount Pleasant Street' and got here.
Allegedly, 57 Mount Pleasant Street is neither in Auckland or Melbourne, but is the address of the Registry Office where John Lennon was married for the first time! ( actually the address of the Registry Office is 65 Mount Pleasant.) In Liverpool, where I used to live when I was a child! I am told I had the same music teacher as John Lennon; a peripatetic teacher who served Quarry Bank as well as my school. A nice story...
Even more spookily, the Google map on the website is wrong; the Mount Pleasant is in Liverpool city centre, not the suburb shown.
But the map shown is of the suburb in which I grew up, and includes the house where I lived for 18 years!
Sorry for a very personal story, but gave me goosebumps.

Fascinating. It would be very much like Neil Finn to sneak something that clever into a song.

anyone see the footage of this from the Live Earth concert on 7/7/07 ? There was a power outtage in the stadium and all the lights went on stage. The PA still worked. Amazing moment with the entire stadium singing in unison. A great ending to the entire day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuOsueaJwNY

that's quite a good take on it. perhaps that is what is kind of annoying about it, it's good, catchy, but sort of leaves you hungry for more. Given the number of really good songs they wrote, it's a bit ironic that this was their biggest hit.

Usually when someone on this board suggests that those who don't share their musical tastes "shouldn't be allowed to listen to music" I assume that they've just finished their freshman year of college. Surprise, surprise.
wow, a lot CH and Finn Bros. over the last few days here. Yesterday it was "fall at your feet" from this disc. I must say, although Neil and Co. write/wrote some of the catchiest pop songs of the 80s & 90s there is often an underlying darkness to much of the music. It has especially come out in his solo releases, and I think that's what I love about his songwriting so much, the happy pop song on the surface, with the twisted mess underneath. Love it.
