This time I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm going to need two pair of shoes
When I get through walkin' me blues
When I get back to New Orleans I've got my suitcase in my hand
Now, ain't that a shame
I'm leavin' here today
Yes, I'm goin' back home to stay
Yes, I'm walkin' to New Orleans You used to be my honey
Till you spent all my money
No use for you to cry
I'll see you bye and bye
'Cause I'm walkin' to New Orleans I've got no time for talkin'
I've got to keep on walkin'
New Orleans is my home
That's the reason while I'm gone
Yes, I'm walkin' to New Orleans I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans

Thank You for the lyrics!

Reminds me of my my darling daddy ~ he loved Fats
The first of three interesting little paragraphs regarding this song on Wiki:

""Walking to New Orleans" is a 1960 song by Bobby Charles, written for and recorded by Fats Domino.

Domino was a hero of Charles. Domino had previously recorded the
Charles tune "Before I Grow Too Old". When Domino stopped on tour in Lafayette, Louisiana,
he invited Charles into his dressing room, and regretted he did not
have a copy of his new record to give to Charles, but invited Charles to
come visit him in Domino's home of New Orleans.
Charles replied, "I don't have a car. If I'd go, I'd have to walk."
Afterwards, the thought remained on Charles's mind, and he said he wrote
the song for Domino in some 15 minutes."

Extraordinary rendition by Neil Young of the song "Walking to New Orleans" (by Bobby Charles, written for and recorded by Fats Domino).

"Im 14 and just started listening to blues, found artist like muddy waters bo diddley neil young bb king and more realizing that these artist are at the heart of music. This is better than new fake artist who make songs with weird lyrics. this music is real words from the heart."     2010Ajholmes

"There's some good old stuff. You might want to check out Chess Record label (search YT). But don't write off your own generation, there's some good stuff being produced today, and many will be tomorrow's classics. So research music roots by all means, but keep an open outlook. A wide music experience is better than a narrow one."      Buzzer365

what a pleasure to hear this
Oh yes...{#Bananapiano}
I'm breaking down in old age. I hear Fats and my walkin' legs get weak.
Still cheering for y'all in N'awlins. I hope it doesn't sound cold, but every empty lot keeps the corporate clowns from buying y'all out and building some sort of cheap Disney style copy of what the place used to be. Stay tough down there...
You used to be my honey, 'til you spent all my money.

Song made me wish I was walking to New Orleans. I DO miss that city. I was very close to moving there years ago...hope to go back soon...
OMG, I must have heard that record on the console stereo a thousand times whan I was kid. Oh, Dale and Grace..."I'm leavin' it all up to you"
OH lawdsakes, this is perfect! I'm just tucking into a big bowl of spicy spicy jambalaya made by a guy named Charles! Aiiiiiyyeeeeeeeee! Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans?

Well, this song is prescient. But Fats should have been running from New Orleans, instead of walking to it. Fortunately, he's been found alive and well: The legendary ‘Blueberry Hill' singer who was reported missing in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, by his daughter Karen Domino White, has been declared fine though ‘a bit stressed out' by his agent. Domino who chose not to leave New Orleans, told the Washington Post: "We've lost everything" and that he simply didn't know what to do next. He added: "I'm worried about all the people of New Orleans…Tell them I love them, and wish I was home with them. I hope we'll see them soon." Domino's friends and relatives were concerned about his whereabouts until Thursday, when one of his daughters recognised the artist being helped out of a rescue boat, in a photo published by the New Orleans Times-Picayune
Thank God he was found safe!!
