At ten o'clock is when I rise from my grave, and cast my eyes over the ideas that I couldn't save, become regret and break upon me now wave after wave, bid me remember what I done.

A strange appeal is in the magazine zodiac, what inspiration are the
women of the dog track, now there's a wheel and there's a well and there's a big rack, the perfumed killers from the north, collect each Saturday to brood and sally forth...

I don't know enough to know not to show it
Or tell it like I know more,
I'm sorry darling but your roving poet's just a bank balance troubadour, who can't sing the song anymore.

At ten o'clock is when you open up your apple eyes, and drink a cup into the one of earth the other skies, and out your mouth a tiny burst of tiny baby cries "O where o where o where did you get into to?"
A strange appeal unto a pocket where a body lay, I saw a dream of
such a couple only yesterday, when the one did leave the other went to war Enola Gay, she had a halo, was a heroine, she had a halo, was a heroine...

Well I know I'm not loathe to show it, I smile like a bandsaw, I'm sorry baby but your roving poet's just a footloose man-whore, who
can't talk the talk anymore..

We're just passing through

At ten o'clock is when I rise from my grave, and cast my eyes over the ideas that I couldn't save, become regret and break upon me now wave after wave, bid me remember what I done.

When time doesn't tear you pay a fee to make it rip, the ditch witch, the back hoe, the bobcat, the tip, soil from the hillock spilling over on that solemn lip, it covers up the cedar mirror, do you ever see your
weakness any clearer?

We were winding up the road to the site with the windows down and
the cigarettes alight, singing some rubbish about "my soul's alright",
I didn't know what I could do...
It's just you and I and some other guy forever passing through?

We're just passing through

Like a: (gall stone)
(rat through a snake)
(little rubbish through a rake)

We're just passing through.

Rat through a snake?
Good and i like it. Arcade fire feeling but with much more The Strokes in it :)
keep going.....
Another RP first for me.
Thumpin' tune. I've never heard any other Augie March tune than One Crowded Hour, also on this collection, and quite different than this rocker.  It's a bit derivative, but getting past that, it blows up the speakers, which right now are cranked.

Shame I missed this.  I could've sold my copy in 2009 and bought one back now - it's currently selling for just a few $s/£s on amazon.
Also, love this track.
Initially, I'd rated this 9 but now it's 6 due, I think, to its repetitiveness that wears thin for me after a few hearings. With few exceptions this seems to be pretty much a 9-measure loop. It is quite catchy in its repetition, though!

Compared to the studio version (see vandal below) this video has very poor sound, but it may give you a sense of the band.

The drumming alone takes it from a 7 to an 8.

How is this possible? I saw at least 4 copies unopened at Amoeba in Berkeley last weekend for $1.99, as cutouts. I heard this group here, bought the CD for $2 several months ago, and think these guys are really pretty good and inventive musicians. They manage to sound fairly different from song to song.
Really digging this today.  8

Thats when you have 15 toms, 10 crash cymbals and throw in flam or two when totally unexpected! Sometimes you can embellish for extra imaginativeness with those drum sticks that are all wires and stuff. I suppose Neil Pert is in this category.
Oh, I'm digging this today.

John Bonham on (at least) the Albert Hall disc of LZ's "DVD". He plays notes.

I'm no expert on drumming, but that guy is amazing. That roll or riff or whatever (like I said, no expert) he does near the end of She's Moved On on Deadwing is just something else.

*That's* why this reminds me so much of The White Stripes! Don't get me wrong - I love the White Stripes! Oh and, probably not coincidentally, this is the only Augie March song I've heard so far that I've found I can also get behind...
good Aussie Rock
Oh to be just passing through on this beautiful Monday morning. Unfortunately, still have the whole day ahead of me.

This song leads me to believe the band is composed of one kid banging pots & another kid shouting into a tuperware pitcher. It's that good. Please, pass through already, and PUT THAT FORK DOWN BEFORE YOU HURT SOMEONE!
Awesome RP sound
Yet another catchy tune from this band/album!

That's pretty darned close, Mari -- actually it means "(I'm) obliged to you (for doing me the implied or discussed favor)," but it is used as the most polite way to mean, Please, please, pretty please. Keep on rocking us hard, Bill -- onegaishimasu!

Mari wrote:
Biography by Gregory McIntosh Augie March formed in 1996 in Melbourne, Australia, where guitarist/singer/songwriter Glenn Richards, guitarist Adam Donovan, and drummer David E. Williams were attending college. The three grew up together in Shepparton, Victoria, Australia, but it wasn't until they reunited as friends during their college days that Richards, an English major, began writing songs and invited the other two to accompany him. Both Donovan and Williams were studying music and the two sought out bassist Edmond Ammendola, with whom they'd worked in the music school, to complete the lineup. The quartet quickly began arranging the music and settled on a name borrowed from the 1954 novel The Adventures of Augie March by Saul Bellow, whose poetic, complex prose complemented Richards' own imaginative and descriptive lyrical prowess. Before long, Augie March attracted the ears of Ra Records and in early 1998, the label released the EP Thanks for the Memes. Soon thereafter, Augie March released another EP, titled Waltz, and on the strength of the single "Asleep in Perfection," word about the band rapidly spread and BMG Australia courted the band with a recording contract. Augie March accepted and began work on their first full-length, in the meantime expanding to a quintet with the addition of keyboardist Rob Dawson. Sunset Studies was released in mid-2000 to excellent reviews and public support, hovering in the Australian music charts into 2001 while the band performed constantly in support. Sadly, keyboardist Rob Dawson was killed in an automobile accident on January 2, 2001, just a short year after his joining the group. The remaining four took some time to regroup from the tragedy, holed up together in an abandoned telephone company building, and began writing new material for the follow-up to Sunset Studies. They recruited keyboardist Kiernan Box and headed into the studio to put their new batch of songs to tape, which resulted in the majestic Strange Bird, released in 2002. ... Thanx for the upload whoever, they're triff, thanks RP for your diverse and challenging choices! ...
