Through the veins of history
I'll show you how God
Falls asleep on the job
And how can we win
When fools can be kings?
Don't waste your time
Or time will, waste, you...
No one's gonna take me alive
The time has come to make things right
You and I must fight for our rights
You and I must fight to survive
No one's gonna take me alive
The time has come to make things right
You and I must fight for our rights
You and I must fight to survive
No one's gonna take me alive
The time has come to make things right
You and I must fight for our rights
You and I must fight to survive
This has the same feel as The Flash Gordon soundtrack by Queen.
Yes... And note that that was very similar to The Sweet's "Medusa" before it; Bellamy's vocals are often a dead-ringer for Brian Connolly back in the day!
This tune reminds me of a tune by Kai Winding from 1962 or '63. I can't remember the name of the tune (might have been "More"). It got a lot of radio airplay, even on the rock & roll AM Top10/Top40 radio stations.
While I still hear that, now I hear a mix of "Ghost Riders in The Sky" mixed in.
The Rock Mix is pressing all my buttons tonight. Kudos!!
Cool. At least NOT the "Skip Button". LOL! Thanx RP!
I would LOVE to hear I Believe In A Thing Called Love by The Darkness on here. Based entirely on the music, it is like a step above Muse on the cheesiness scale, but the video for the song - oh, the video ... perfection, the absolute stinkiest cheese.
YES PLEASE
you must be dead inside
some are. but eye don't know about this...
seems like i'm watching a shitty movie.
i fell asleep so can't say for sure
this song doesn't positively do anything for me
you must be dead inside
Great Saturday morning wake-up mix today. Thanks, I needed the music energy to get going.
Ha! Even Elvis Costello is pushing me to play that old 45.

one thing I love about this place, all the back stories that suddenly make things make sense.
This song demands to be played.
Fixed it for you.
Nah! Butterflies and Hurricanes
Nah! Stockholm Syndrome

The video is a Tour de Fromage!
c.
great tune ever!
Nah! Butterflies and Hurricanes
great tune ever!
Great Tune!! But, a bit of an overstatement. Everybody has different tastes!
ghost riders in the sky
I agree! Both are great tunes! Thanx RP!
Digging this tonight!
I owe RP a donation just for introducing me to this album. It's like a fine jambalaya of ELO, The Darkness, Orgy, Queens of the Stone Age, U2, and God knows what else.

Weird, I get 3 letters into my address and my last 4 Samsung phones have autosuggested both my email addresses.
This song may be responsible for a couple speeding tickets.
You absolutely cannot deny the power chords at the end...that's when the accelerator hit 100 mph!
most definitely one of the more annoying Modern Problems out there, though my latest phone (Lineage degoogled andriod) is the only one I got that does that.
Impressive.
Pretentious? Pretending to be what? Music is music - you either like it or you don't. Muse is all about showmanship, over the top musicianship maybe, but it is just music - fun, silly, inspiring, uplifting or cringe worthy. It's up to your interpretation - but after all it is just a few guys trying to make a living playing music.
this band is nothing but up its own arse "artistic" hogwash
Gotta love these guys for what they are. Although their pretentiousness knows no bounds, it's not supposed to. That's the point.

Written and produced by Joe Meek. I've got a couple compilation CD's of his work.
An interesting and tragic genius in the 60's...

Guilty!
I like your response, except the definition of pretentious is "attempting to impress by affecting greater importance or merit than is actually possessed". It's from the same etymological route as pretending, but always, specifically, affecting grandeur.
I believe by this definition, they are a bit pretentious, but I still love Muse.
Right.
You call it "pretentious" because it's TRYING to be pretentious. That's the whole point. Embrace TF outta it.

"Pretentious" is one of the most overused and ridiculous criticisms on these boards.
Those who use the term think they are soooooo much smarter than everyone else when, in fact, they are just being... you guessed it.
Matt Bellamy's dad was on guitar ...
It all went downhill from there...
Still this is a very very decent song from these peculiar rockers - Gave this an 8.
Peace
From the head banging?
Too much prog rock? DAMNED RIGHT!
For those who like down tempo ambient style rock, the rest of the album by Focus was pretty decent. Makes me think of Camel.
I am not sure that Camel is for RP but you can hear the Genesis, King Crimson, Moody Blues influence and you can hear melodies and riffs that will remind you of Porcupine Tree. Steven Wilson is a big fan.
As for this pretentious garbage Muse song, I kinda like it.
Too much prog rock? DAMNED RIGHT!
Yes. But that is one blindingly awesome transition from Mathias Duplessy. Good gracious.

I like this. It is retro in an amusing and entertaining way. I like the voices, actually. I'll sit and listen while the rest of you go visit your tax attorneys.
The tax attorney wins!
This song reminded me to make an appointment with my dentist.
The tax attorney wins!
I'd pick a trip down to DMV over this.
"Oh those noisy kids!"
I am DIGGING this driving rock n roll!!
The tax attorney wins!
oh well. i love this song; inspires visions of doing adventurous things at great speed. i recall listening to it often while doing geologic work in alaska, using helicopters and such. glorious days! such an excellent album too.
Really not quite up to RP standard.
The lack of restraint is what makes it good. The new album is kinda "meh"...
Love this song and seeing it live at Arras Main Square festival back in 2006; it was incredible - what energy!
Sadly I think Muse have since lost the plot and sound too much like Queen.
Love you people!
Well its Muse, they are melodrama.
