Down on the ocean floor
That's where I'm heading for
Hold on to a sinking stone
Until the worst is known.

Nobody wants to think about it
Nobody wants to talk about it
Nobody Protects you

They make it go away
Pretending that it's all ok
Broken pieces on the ground
And everyones tip-toeing round

Nobody wants to think about it
Nobody wants to talk about it
No-one Protects you
Yeah

Are we losing something
We used to cry
We used to say why
For all I know
I might not get home
But I found out
If we open it up
We could work this out

Nobody wants to think about it
Nobody wants to talk about it
Now

What you suspected all along
Everything he told you was wrong
And you can see it if you want

But nobody wants to

I am sorry everyone thinks that Crowded House/Neil Finn are so boring.  I guess you just don't get the uniqueness of their music.  It is an acquired taste, so to speak.

Took me about a millisecond to acquire it.  CH and anything Finn is sublime.

This....,what please? Stuff?
Sooo American!
pffff...

Classical CH!

The album - though good - cannot reach their old standards.

I have never been a big fan... but this is a good song.
I'm a huge CH fan, but the songs on this album are just plain bad, with a few exceptions. I'd love to hear Pour le Monde or Heaven That I'm Making instead.
I love this stuff, I really do- but am I the only one thinking this place is starting to sound like

This song is O.K.
Bland and yet inoffensive.
Not unlike steamed rice.

Who but Neil Finn can could squeeze so much meaning out of single syllable words? I love this. 9

My buddy Bemis is from Mississippi. He can make any one syllable word two. To wit: "Day-amn!" Okay, not exactly the same as squeezing meaning, but close... {#Wink}
Hmmm. It has been a very Finn filled day. Not that I'm complaining at all.

Thank you Radio Paradise for making me realise that there is so much more to Crowded House than "Dont Dream Its Over," featured on many of my junior high and summer camp mix tapes.
Not to bad for Crowded Horse

Busted! Yet again {#Doh} No Tim, but Neil did get back together with Nick Seymour, the other founding member of Crowded House, when this album was recorded. {#Yes}

Nice and easy and so good for ....you know what I mean!?

Around the time Time On Earth came out, I bought the reissue of their Farewell To The World DVD. I've been a big fan since their first album, so this is a totally biased opinion, but to me it ranks right up there with Stop Making Sense among the great concert films. If you're Crowed House fan — or thinking of becoming one — buy it now!

A rare 8 for this one. Anything Finn/CH normally gets a 10 from me.
Time on this beautiful place:

Earth

Too bad we are screwing it up. {#Cry}

Hey, I don't have this Crowded House CD.  How did this happen?

I'm glad you pointed that out. I had not thought about it. Just points out the essential sadness of the whole album. Even the more upbeat sounding songs have an undertone of loss, absence and guilt IMO. Still good, or even great in some cases. But there is a missing quality of joy to the overall album that I miss. I'm hoping that they will do another album soonish and have gotten the darkness out of their system with this more cathartic effort.
exactly how I feel about it too.
Any song that comes out of Neil Finn's mouth gets an automatic 8 from me... often rising from there!
This may be the only Crowded House song I ever liked. No more blanket hatred. Thanks RP
this song is playing on a rainy day here where I am the sounds seem to weep water droplets
wow, apparently it is true that we have different tastes

It's been ages since I last listened to Crowded House. Good to know they are still doing good stuff.
Two for two. Both cuts I've heard so far are hitting a strong chord with me. This effort is steadily rising on my "to be purchased soon" list...
What a wonderful song. I am going to go get this CD tomorrow. I didn't realize there was a new one out. Love it when the classic groups have a new release. Thank you Bill for introducing this one.

Sorry, You are correct. It should be "some form of Finn every few hours...guaranteed"...
There are plenty of radio stations that don't play them. I suggest you have a listen!
A new Neil Finn classic is born with this song!

Oh come now. I just looked and over the last 6 hours Bill has played ONE Finn song and then 3 hours later he plays ONE Crowded House song. I certainly wouldn't call that "all Finn, all the time". There wasn't even a Split Enz song.

Seeing these guys in Atlanta last fall was one of the highlights of my musical year, if not my musical life...tremendous...Neil Finn is a god....

So totally correct! Tim and the boys ain't too shaby either!

beautiful song. I love the whole album. it's definitely largely about Paul Hester. having lost several loved ones in recent years, it's draining for me to listen to (but I still do it). saw the band four times this year and they rocked every show!

Vocals remind me of Jeff Tweedy.
Beautiful. I am so glad ya'll had a happy ending to the episode out in Paradise I saw on the news this morning. The lost family was found!! Happy Holidays!
Yay! Another track from this most excellent C.H. comeback!

Neil introduced this song referencing a friend's son's (nephew?) near death experience during a scuba diving episode as his inspiration. I believe he has, indeed, confronted man's mortality & the fragility of life. Please play it Bill....
