HOWEVER, when I first heard this come on, I thought it was William Shatner's song Ideal Woman -- off his great comeback album "Has Been" (I should upload it here)

Great! ethiopia Jazz! I listened this song in "broken flowers" film.
remenber me nights spent in Addis Ababa music houses
The more I hear of this band the more I like them.

an ode to yegella tezeta
Jazzy psychedelic fever dream magic! Clever title; Ethan H. does tap the chillest vibes in this keyboard jam, and dig the Sandman-like sax!
ETHIOPIAAAA! I FRICKIN LOVE ETHIOPIAN JAZZ! Sorry about the caps; needs must.
Awesome segue from Janah's "Wake of the Sun" to this! Nice meld!
This group is so much fun to see live.

I actually don't think Dengue Fever is meant to be taking seriously. I will be honest, half the time I don't know what they are doing either, but the guitar player is really good and I love when the chick sings in her native tongue. Real hit and miss band though.
Look after him Cyn. I know you will. I'll do what I can at my end x

Reminds me of Whiskey Bar by the Doors.
Nice cover from Ethio Jazz
I once met an Ethanopium.

Having lived in this region, albeit 40-plus years ago, I find this amazing music. Keep it going!!

Dengue Fever never grows old. Such a unique sound !
A little like Mulatu Astatke- very nice!
First song on RP while doing a stationary bike ride. This had MMW overtones with a dash of Morphine. And then two songs later he plays a classic Morphine song. Go Bill go.

Anyhow, cool groove in this tune.
Eric Burton like guitar licks. Can't say this song expands my musical horizons.
Lyrics lack panache....

Whenever I hear this band name, Dengue Fever, I shudder! I got Dengue Fever in India and it was not so fun. Love this band's music though. Very original!
A DF song that I don't rush for the "next" button on!
Oh yes, I've been needing a DF fix for a solid month now (no time to put the disk on the platter at home).
Meh. More Calexico please. Real deal.

This is why I tune in to RP.
I want to see Steve Martin, in a King Tut outfit, dance to this.
Who is Eric Burton? Now, Eric Burdon, on the other hand...

Oh yeah! Bill, you must have heard my thought waves: I was needing to hear some Dengue — my fever must have been cooling....
I'm glad you played this right after Fever Ray - Triangle Walks. I thought I was hearing Dengue Fever whenever I heard that song.
Now I can think I'm not the only one.
Now I can think I'm not the only one.
An interesting and pretty faithful remake of Mulatu Astatke's Yegelle Tezeta. I first heard the original on the OST of Broken Flowers. Rediscovered it one week ago, a true earworm. Seems to be a classic piece that begs for remixing: https://ethio-pain-music.blogspot.com/2011/12/mulatu-astatke-various-remixes.html
The more you play the more appreciate these guys range. My friends from L.A. say there are many of these types of bands and clubs in the Asian communities... But heck, good jazz knows no boundaries, seasons or languages.... Keep finding Nu2Me music, I'll keep buying and listein... Deal-?
I thought the title to this song was Ethanopium, not Et Hanopium

I heard the opening chords of this and I swear to Cthulu, I thought of Southern Culture on the Skids - "Baybay... You make me wanna WALK... Like a camel...Aaaroooooooooo!" I don't dislike it, but I just can't take it seriously. Then again, I"m in a really good mood today, so I'm not taking anything seriously. Time to go sign up for a membership to the Bob and Tom online community...

This is a great band, I picked up a CD of theirs and while it's different and the Asian woman's voice is hard to get your head wrapped around at first, I'm glad I bought it. Gotta be in just the right mood for the Fever.
Keep playing it! Excelsior getting fed up is enough of a reason to play it repeatedly.
ENOUGH
I'd love to see this as a soundtrack number for an Austin Powers flick! Dig it — YEAH, Baby!

And Radio Paradise doesn't support my in-browser spell check, which is super-crappy too!

Didn't Malatu Astatke and Dengue Fever do this for the Broken Flowers sound track as well?
Sounds like the Sandman got resurrected into an Austin Powers movie. But I like.
Negative 5.

tune in drop out? no after hearing this song I'd have to think about tuning out and dropping into another radio station until this song is over. But the tune that followed this one is sure nice, thanks RP
They are not too bad, but RP plays this song every single day, getting really sick of it.
OMG! Not these guys again.

See, this tune is okay. I kinda like it, unlike the vast majority of their other stuff I've heard. Quite possibly because that woman isn't having her fingernails ripped out in front of a microphone.
I like this band and so far this is my favorite tune!
Sounds a bit like The Greenhornes (Broken Flowers soundtrack?) ... I like it.
I hate, hate, hate all the Dengue Fever tracks with the female vox. She's so screechy. This instrumental, however, is tolerable. The bass is a mite too repetetive for my tastes but at least it's not like a 10,000 rpm drill in my ear. That's a good thing, I guess.

How awesome would it be to see these guys play with Southern Culture on the Skids?
