There's no truth at all poking at the giant eyes of ancient gods
Cool heads have failed now it's time for me to have my turn
Kiss me kiss me, life is way too short to scream and shout.
Flashed up in my wildest dreams the dark red blood streams
Stretching out like vast cracked ice
The veins of you the veins of me like great forest trees
Pushing through and on and in
Gliding like a satellite in the broken night
And when I wake you're there I'm saved
Your love is life piled tight and high set against the sky
That seems to balance on its own
Sing out sing out, the silence only eats us from the inside up
I meant no harm but I only get to say these words too late
Wake up wake up, dreaming only leads to more and more nightmares
Snap out of it you said it in a way that showed you really cared.
That seems to balance on its own
Send your lifeboats out for me
Send your lifeboat out
Nice one. Wilder than whom? That, I would like to see ;)
but, it makes me want to hear the Beta Band - Dry The Rain next!!
hints of stephen stills in the vocals. i like it.
Voice is similar; phrasing and emphasis remind me of Mr Stills, too.
Yeah, but they also gave us Celine Dion, so it all balances out

U know I am from The Great White North...A lot of talent here. BUT i must confess.....States, Euro, Aussie, Asia, India....The English have the MOST & Best groups ever! Don't even get me started. Irish & Scots included.
Stretching out like vast cracked ice
The veins of you the veins of me like great forest trees
Please, someone call the simile police.
Sure is nice to have the lyrics posted here on RP. I double-checked to see why the singer kept asking for all the lightbulbs to be out for him, lol.
And thank goodness for Google. So we can see what "Scottish superstars" look like.
Shhh! I prefer we keep them to ourselves.
One, but the light bulb has to really want to change.

Never mind, that was psychiatrists. My bad, carry on.
ahh dude there's this new feature called PSD>>
tap that sh!t
One, but you'll have to wait for them to finish their wistful jam in the dark.
This song is quite enjoyable, so I got the album and the rest is only "meh" to me, and their other albums are meh too. Just too bland, predictable pop, which is markedly different from this cut ... bummed me out, as I wanted to dig into other good stuff from them.
So you are saying they are Better Than Ezra?
That's hilarious.
I love this whole album from Snow Patrol.
So you are saying they are Better Than Ezra?
yeah love this song but nothing else of theirs has grabbed my ears. some very interesting lines in this.

Yes...a deep, constructive joy...agreed!!
I'll second that. PT are as Rachmaninov to Einaudi, at another level of complexity and feeling, for all that I like Ludovico Einaudi. This song playing after Coldplay's White Shadow makes me realise that Coldplay and Snow Patrol are of a musical kind: cool (in the sense of distant and unemotional), relatively simple, and perhaps a touch corporate. For all that both are good bands, it's difficult for me to get any emotional charge from their works. Maybe it's just me.
Not just you, Fred.
Feeling the same way.
.......you said it

Well Fred, you nailed it for me. Nuff sed.
Snow Patrol: Not bad. More, I do not say, thinking of a person very close to me, she loves them, so I get very quiet, otherwise I may end up sleeping rough. (It's a case of force majeure)
Ah ...yes, sleeping on the couch is never fun ! I'm starting to like this song....
Gave it a 5. Lots of familiar elements in there from artists I'm into. Like the ambitious lyrics. Maybe giveit a few more listens before I give my final verdict.
I like this as a background groove but not enough to reach out and buy the CD. At least not yet.
FWIW: this is sonically similar to some Porcupine Tree but otherwise very, very different. PT's melodies are simple, the arrangements are complex. Nothing wrong with simple or simpler music. I love Abba and John Prine. Just saying that Snow Patrol and Porcupine Tree are rather different for those of us who amuse ourselves by comparing one popular rock band to another.

and my (not so little now) tube amp loves that bass.

DITTO!
I see nothing what so ever about that this group that reminds me of Porcupine Tree,
NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed! Though with that said, this is the best tune (IMO) that I've heard from Snow Patrol.

Nothing for the specialist I am!
Still - I give it a 5.
The soft version of Porcupine Tree?

Thought it was Beck at first listen. Very good, enjoyable, fun to hear!
sophisticated musical sojourn if you'll take the time to go along for the ride...just like P. Tree is...

Don't bother to be respectful... I was always taught that respect had to be earned.

Fixed that for you...
Always mouth the line... "kiss me, kiss me...life is way to short to scream and shout" at my wife when she is ticked at me...always gets to her...either that or thought of how bad my singing is...

Yeah, one does not find rolling pins in kitchens as much these days, so the frying pan will have to do.

Must be so hard to be an Eclecticist.
By the way, I agree with your comment otherwise.
The misses and me . . .we be ... dancin' in the dark.....very sensual tune...

Maybe their best tune.. from my point of view.
I think so - it's definitely a depart from their usual. Nice nice tune. :o)
A good 8 for me.

Better than half the stuff played during the day...............
Wow! Imagine if you put even a fraction of that energy into something constructive? Your body and this planet would be much better off.
Wow! Imagine if you didn't slag off other posters for expressing honest opinions? The rest of us would be much better off. Better strong opinions than positivist happy-clappy 'on-message' bland comments. What do you think this board is for, if not for expressing opinions?

C'mon Art. Tell us how you really feel...
Don't you wish that people would just come right out and say what they're thinking instead of beating around the bush?

Made me laugh out loud! What a delightful visual. Thank you. Snow Patrol has made me happy a lot lately and now this story will make it even richer.
