It's empty in the valley of your heart
The sun it rises slowly as you walk
Away from all the fears and all the faults you've left behind
The harvest left no food for you to eat
You cannibal you meat eater you see
But I have seen the same I know the shame in your defeat
But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again
'Cause I have other things to fill my time
You take what is yours and I'll take mine
Now let me at the truth which will refresh my broken mind
So tie me to a post and block my ears
I can see widows and orphans through my tears
I know my call despite my faults and despite my growing fears
But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again
So come out of your cave walking on your hands
And see the world hanging upside down
You can understand dependence when you know the maker's hand
So make your siren's call
And sing all you want
I will not hear what you have to say
'Cause I need freedom now
And I need to know how
To live my life as it's meant to be
And I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways

Cue drum and banjo ... again ... with another song that sounds exactly like their last song ...
Not offensive to listen to, nor particularly inspiring. One step up from middle-of-the-road. It's ok.

rhythm is way too basic for my tastes
Don't you just hate it when people try to speak for others (everyone/All). It's an OK song from an OK band. Just my opinion obviously.

The more I listen to Mumford & Sons, the more I like it. It grows on you, but not in a bad way.
cool. The human voice is a fine instrument that doesn't require tuning..although many would if they could...but wait..if you never use it, it will get out of tune....forget it !
This is excellent.

I'm sorry-I said I wasn't going to say much. I just turned on the "radio" again. This was so GENERIC of the "music"now. Guess I should go out and listen to the crickets and birds. Probably which so many of you haven't heard.....silence CAN be golden. OUCH,huh?ha ha.
What a bloody beautiful song rendering one tearful sometimes...it's all about having the courage to go on for someone one really loves..or something.

My daughter, now 17 and who doesn't care much for trad rad bluegrass, loves this disc. I love trad bluegrass, newgrass, and whatever they're doing over there (the UK) to update the genre—Equation, the Decembrists, and Noah and the Whale also come to mind.

I usually like a little screaming guitar but will settle for some manic banjo playing.
The album rapidly climbed to a 4, stalled there for a bit, and now it's sinking like a stone.
Anyone else hearing, 'The Waterboys'?
This video always comes to mind now.

Not really, as I bought this album based on hearing it here. It lacks depth and complexity. It's good for a few listens. But then it really loses its charm. All the songs seem the same. And it really never took me anywhere.
I gave this song an 8. And that still stands. But the album is a solid 4. Pretty disappointing overall.

Nice. Where is RedGuitar?
Damn, where's my spoons? Love it.
British Blue Grass.... I love it!
One day last week, Mumford and Sons was on the radio when I drove to work, at lunch when I drove home from work, and later that night, when I went to the store. I was sick of them weeks before that already.

This song/group is magic.
This is a hardware Store, right? Or a Mens shop?

Originally gave it a 3, but after hearing it again I think that it's an easy 7!

Reminds me of Dan Mangan....with a British accent.

love the album photo!
Love Mumford & Sons :) Heard Little Lion Man on a local station a few weeks ago and I've been in love ever since. This is also one oft favorites from them.

I really love these guys. White Blank Page is another great one.
I am really liking what I've heard from Mumford & Sons. I ordered the CD and should be arriving anyday. Can't wait to hear the whole CD.
I think we're in a banjo sequence and I can't wait to see where it goes next...
Caught my ear and made me turn it up.... I like. An immediate 7, bet it could climb with a few more listens. Thanks Bill.... there's another CD I will probably be buying soon. Oh... and Dan Mangan's "Road Regrets" as I type, another on the list to purchase. Bill... you are breaking the bank down here.
