Yesterday i watched the "show" the allocation of Music Awards, with the illusion (believer, I) from anyone watching something interesting. Lost time. Very "bright", great "makeup", very "sight of fire", very "glamorous-hollywodesc", (very similar to the production of the Oscars) and about the essence of music, little or nothing. The music industry associated with awards living in a closed circuit. A disappointing hassle. Probably i draw a personal perspective and not very tolerant. It is also true that artists, especially those new talent need to rely on these awards to encourage them and gain prestige and name (M.& Sons). Anyway, this "party" is more like the "Eurovision-Contest" in Europe. But because in the U.S. is worse.
I do not know and i think nobody knows the criteria and strategy for the selection of artists, but it is certainly the purest commercial interest of publishers and industry and the internal market first of all. Not missed until some "Hollywood film stars", swaying hips, and to prove to the snob interest of "being in the hollers" in "wave".
You can also ask why artists like Robert Zimmerman and ´Stone´Jagger lent themselves to brighten the festival ...
well, i know that mediocrity is not contagious, it is not for artists to have prejudices, or establish criteria or scale of values, it is up to the public. Furthermore they were paid to perform on stage. In addition, the organization sought to save and make it attractive a poor spectacle. If RP reflected (only) the criterion of the Awards, it was better to close or never existed. Thank God for RP is guided by other perspectives and values.
And, Ray, do not be disappointed because these ´people of awards´ do not deserve you. Ray La M. have the fact that one of the best musical albums produced in 2010! called "God Willin' & The Creek Don't Rise", and that nobody can take away.

I find that Ray LaMontagne is one of the few fresh faces in an otherwise unimpressive music industry these days. I don't like all of the directions he is going in, but I admire him for branching out and not putting out the same album over and over again. We don't see the kind of risk taking anymore that we saw with the Beatles and other artists who kept reinventing themselves in order to keep the genre evolving.

 LaMontagne refers to himself as a "very private person", and rarely gives interviews. He also usually does not interact much with the audience between songs during his live shows<22> and has been known to perform in the dark to avoid distracting bright lights and to separate himself from the audience because of his shy nature. LaMontagne doesn't make music videos because he is extremely critical of himself and believes music videos should be left for "beautiful people".<citation needed>

I'm glad he ventures out but it does seem like he is out of his league on this one, much less his comfort zone. I do want to hear the rest of this album though.  Your fave and a few others are pretty good. I think he produced so apparently liked it better than other efforts.

I guess it takes a lot out of him to kick a song like this one.  I'm still loving this whole work by him. As shy and withdrawn as he is, this stint with Pariah Dogs might be stretching his boundaries. If so, I love it.  And I still love the "sleepy Ray" too...{#Sunny}
