All those wasted hours we used to know
Spent the summer staring out the window
The wind, it takes you where it wants to go
First they built the road, then they built the town
That's why we're still driving around and around
And all we see are kids in buses longing to be free
Wasted hours before we knew where to go and what to do
Wasted hours that you made new and turned into a life that we can live
Some cities make you lose your head
Endless suburbs stretched out thin and dead
And what was that line you said
Wishing you were anywhere but here
You watch the life you're living disappear
And now I see, we're still kids in buses longing to be free
Wasted hours before we knew where to go and what to do
Wasted hours that you made new and turned into a life that we can live
Spent the summer staring out the window
The wind, it takes you where it wants to go

And what was that line you said
Wishing you were anywhere but here
You watch the life you're living disappear

this album is getting lots of play here the last 2 days...
Go see them live.
They are electric!
Pure enthusiasm, dance.
one of their better tunes imo
Arcade Fire's vocals have a blandness that just doesn't do it for me. (Although can happily listen to Steely Dan, Mark Knopler, Neil Young and others. So I'm sure not consistent.)
Conflicted, as a Canadian dealing with my inferior currency & your supporting Canadian talent...torn!🤣
This is ending is great!

I agree. Far better version. Never heard it before either.
This must be from the extended version of the album they released. I haven't heard it until now, and it corrects one of the only mistakes (IMO) on the album. The first version of this they released has a really awkward and fast fade out. This full version sounds a lot more natural.

another first for me here on RP. And its not bad. both simpler and more soulful than the usual AF noise. i could listen often

Okay, this ending is completely unlike what I have on the vinyl... I rated this a 7, then this new ending began and it immediately became an 8!
Bill, where is this from?

Wow, never heard this ending, the version I have cuts off abruptly at some point.
Is there a compilation album or something like that that we could find gems like these?

Wow, first time hearing this song...nice.
beautiful version of that song!
Thank you RP for presenting multiple cuts from cool artists, very appreciated
Thought I heard all the cuts off the Suburbs. Apparently not. This one is new for me. Good song.
I wasn't paying attention, but I realized that I was gently bopping my head back and forth while reading the news and listening to this song.
love this album - (not heard this version of the song though)
Its an Arcade Fire song on their album 'Suburbs', therefore its absolutely brilliant . . . Most exciting band in the last 5 years
This is a cool song but definitely not the best on the album. 7
