Will you say you love me Jo?
How am I supposed to know?
When you go under the waste
What am I supposed to say?
I see people on the floor
They're slidin' to the sea
Can't stay here anymore
We're turning into thieves
If I stay here trouble will find me
If I stay here I'll never leave
If I stay here trouble will find me
I believe
Jo I'll always think of you
As the kind of child who knew
This was never gonna last
Oh Jo you fell so fast
Hey Jo sorry I hurt you, but they say love is a virtue don't they?
Hey Jo sorry I hurt you, but they say love is a virtue don't they?

We're turning into thieves
I see you rushing now
Tell me how to reach you
I see you rushing now
What did Harvard teach you?
I see you rushing now
Tell me how to reach you
I see you rushing now

I thought it rather Ho-Hum. It's a mirror.
Freakiest cover I have ever seen.

Every song from this band is at best a Ho-Hum rating. And that's being generous.

so bad.
Not one of their better songs
buzz kill, groove kill, think I'll step out for an illegal smile

Are you suddenly become deaf? This drummer is one of the best. And this band too. Comments about 'The National" are so diferent. The sign of a great band.
"Oh geez. That's some bad drumming... wait. It must be The National."

and to think the drummer's mom told him that his drumming in the high school marching band would never amount to much

It has that 'same old, same old' quality to it. Same melody, same rhythm, same repetition, same sonic space.
Same old head beating quality. Please, please make the throbbing stop.
It is frustrating that "The National" has adopted the somber monotone musical presentation that was pioneered by "Morphine" so many years ago. Too bad the new iteration is so trite and monotonous....

I saw them twice live after their release of High Violet. But with this CD, the magic is over I guess.
I'm a big fan of The National but everything off their latest album is boring as all hell. And this is after several months of listening to it on RP.

Hey, great drums.
Maybe they should repeat the melody another 150 times just so we can say we got all of it.

Get the whole album. Listen to it in the car, on a long drive. Hypnotic, smooth, unpredictable - for whatever reason, we "get" it - one of our favorite recent releases. Great album, great song.

Seems a bit harsh guys. This is pretty good and granted their range is not massive but what they do they do pretty well. Stylistically I quite like the voice - has a touch of an american joy division feel about it.

My wife loves this guys voice, I don't get it. However I do love the song Vanderlye Cry Baby Cry even though I have no idea what the strange lyrics mean. They done good with that one though.
Another solid 1.
This is another example of how this band only knows two melodies... this particular song is dangerously barfable... will leave it unrated for now, but I am not optimistic...
Freakiest cover I have ever seen.
