I might be yours as sure as I can say
Be gone be faraway
Roses on parade, they follow you around
Upon your shore as sure as I can say
Be gone be faraway
Like fuel to fire
Into the town we go, into your hideaway
Where the towers grow, gone to be faraway
Sing quietly along
Pious words to cry into the under
Upon your shore as sure as I can say
Be gone be faraway
Oh what a day to choose
Torn by the hours
All that I say to you
Is like fuel to fire
Into the town we go, into your hideaway
Where the towers grow, gone to be faraway
Never do we know, never do they give away
Where the towers grow, only you will hear them say
Sing quietly along
Sing quietly along
Is it me, or does this sound like London Grammar? Either way, it's very good:-).
IDK what it sounds like. It sounds GREAT to me! Thanx RP!
Loved this since I first heard it - as the theme song to Vigil.
Shame the second series of Vigil was so bad.
Thank you William!
Doesn't look like there will be a season 2 for Carnival Row.
Love the harmonizing on this one.
I was wrong. Carnival Row season 2 is available on Amazon Prime.
To this day, it is the only series I've ever recorded and watched where I let the credits play through completely - every single time, just so I could hear the music. And I've included it on every playlist, I've made since I found out who the artist was.
You have probably already guessed the number rating I gave it.

This was played at the end of Last of Us (on HBO), Season 1, Episode 5. Very fitting
Thank you RP ❤️
Heard this song used in an Amazon Prime show, which I would recommend, Carnival Row. Hoping for a season 2 of the show.

Every time she sings the line-"Into the town we go..." I hear "Dude don't go..."
Well, now that you mention it . . .
In the minority here, but I think it blows. Sounds like a Netflix show or something. The chord progression is so dull. Nothing for me in this song at all.
You certainly have an eloquent way of expressing your opinions. That's something to be proud of...
This song has a very very nice minor key ambiance to it... cool orchestration to match the piano... Agnes has a perfect pitch voice and it squeezes my gizzards when she hits the high notes... she says she is influenced by Roy Orbison and Joni Mitchell... this song is good for the ears...
great mood music... big 10 rating...
Points for the use of 'gizzards' .
Nicely put, Lazarus. So unusual to see one of your comments that doesn't mention "everyone in your hippie hotel jammin' to this tune", or words to that effect. Haven't seen much of you here on the RP boards in a while, hope all is well.
Ya how are you Lazarus!!?

Look after the king of R n R
It sure as hell doesn't sound like "into the town we go". I have to remind myself every time that it's not "Dude, don't go"
Not - sing quietly along
as it is written in the lyrics posted here.
Do not hear the hard "T" sound, but a softer "R" sound
9 -> (a rare) 10
Not least, I wonder if 10 is more appropriate than 9.
Bill, great work for everybody who's lost someone. Everybody Hurts, Fuel to Fire, Something Good. Wow. Now that I've growed up I appreciate this.
Oh no buddy! Don't you DARE look at her!
Oh no, I think I may have also asked Skye Edwards and some other female singers the same.
Ah well - no harm asking!
For all of the wonderful work you do, Bill,
As I and others have remarked before, Bill is a Master of the segue.
However, the last chorus of this beautiful song got stepped on by the opening bar of the following song, (Peter Gabriel's "Burn You Up, Burn You Down)."
I really hope this was a mistake, to be edited out of the playlist before it plays again!
A few months ago, I actually heard Bill talking over the opening notes to a song. I had a little flashback to traumatic times with AM radio, circa 1970...
I have not heard that happen again, for which I am thankful.
For all of the wonderful work you do, Bill,
Her simple, yet grand and sweeping sound, is something truly special - like as a listener, you're in on some secret only you & her share.
Auuwnes is Auwesome.
Definitely growing on me with each listen.
Auuwnes is Auwesome.
Only if you torture me.
A tolerant 7 for such moody whoo—oooing.
From this day forth every "delicate and sensitive modern folk" song shall be known as moody whoo-ooing.
Brilliant.

It just seems to touch the exact right nerves in my mind.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BASS, bout the bass.
profound and stirring
7 -> 9. Outstanding.
Gee–Girl ! Fuel to fire works.
It's high octave, and limey
My baby is having a baby
She keeps saying Know-How, and this she needs
, But I;m on the run, and the cops coming after me.
Glad with Krammer vs Krammer.
Thought it was Goldfrapp...Moody, intense and yes dark. This is quite good. Haven't always liked AO's stuff.
These last three songs are the aural equivalent of receiving multiple Twinkie suppositories.

You may want to look for a new proctologist, or maybe not...
Beautiful!>>>> 9
In fact, to make a distinction between art and commerce is something we owe to the European nobility and subsequently the Marxists and Socialists who coopted it. There really is no distinction, not a meaningful one. Art does not exist without commerce. This does not mean all commerce is art and vice versa.
It's no small irony that the distinction was useful by both the Communists and the European Imperialists as a means of oppression and subjugation. We could very easily trace the murder of one billion people by oppressors ruling under the banner of Socialism and Imperialism. Quite often socialists were also imperialists, as in the case of China and Russia.
So, when people get up on their perch and preach anti-commercial rhetoric, they are not actually doing anything virtuous by it. They are parroting the empty doctrines passed on to us by the most blatant perpetrators of murder and evil history has ever known or ever will know.
In the 60s I took Quaaludes when I had thoughts like this. I seem none the worse after ingesting. Give it some thought.
I really hope you're back on the meds, rdo fella/missy

Of the 1764 Internet radio streams out there that you might really enjoy (all the RnB / Soul + Hard Rock / Metal + Classic Rock + Blues + Alt Rock + Adult Contemporary Rock), it's interesting that anyone would choose Radio Paradise (one of 326 Eclectic streams), only to complain on its format! Why, pray tell, did you, misterbearbaby?

Absolutely 'log on' worthy; never tire of this one.
It's impossible to think angry thoughts whilst Agnes is massing my external auditory meatus (as Lazarus would have it). She is just so, so beautiful a singer
Gotta agree with you, Fred the Red (I jest).
I've tried to curb my CD buying in recent years, but thanks to RP I now own both of Agnes O's discs.
Nice serene stuff.
You miss the point entirely. I make no argument that it's bad because it's long and certainly made no reference to Beethoven - that was your attempt at sarcasm. I merely said that the song in question is not of sufficient depth and quality to warrant the running time. And yes, if she did "rush out to the studio and edit it down to 3 minutes" it would probably be a better song IMHO.
Are you sure all this bluster isn't just because you're getting a little long in the tooth? PS I thought the attempt at sarcasm was well executed.
I'm pretty sure that makes you a commie . . . or a bully . . . it's so hard to keep up.

Why is it a "rant"? Please, I really beg you to explain yourself. It was most clearly "on topic". Hint: read it again. Why should we Americans be ashamed of our own culture of commerce, a culture steeped in a rich and wonderful tradition? You are relentlessly on the attack Fred. You have actually been quite successful in making this radio station's comment board, which has absolutely nothing to do with politics, a haven for socialists who attack anyone and everyone who comes here and says ANYTHING even remotely positive about our great, rich culture. I will not be intimidated or bullied by you Fred and when I see you bullying others and injecting extremist rhetoric and anti-American bigotry into the discussion, you can rest assured you will hear from me.
...confrontation versus conversation?
It's so rare to hear any work of art described as "heart-meltingly beautiful and poignant" these days, but it certainly seems appropriate here!
