Come and see
Where are we, this everything
On my knees
Beat it down to get to my soul
Against my way
Anyone can tell it's you coming
Baby, you're on my mind
Leave it on a lie, leave it your way

Come and ride away,
It's easier to stick to the earth
Surrounded by the night
Surrounded by the night, and you don't grow old
But you abuse my faith
Losing every time but I don't know where
You're on my side again
So ride the key wherever it goes
I'll be the one, I can't, whoo!

You are all I've got, away
Running in the dark I come to my soul
You can see it through the dark, it's coming my way
Well we won't get lost inside again

Oh no, no season I can wait
Made of time, made of wool, I can't
Don't think they would mind against
I will keep you here, but I can't

Oh, I'll talk to you if I can
I'll see you where I go

Seen the darkness coming for me

They have a "Sound"    once upon a time  pink floyd had a "sound" also   in thier hey day  the doobies also had a "sound"   then there is that classic led zep 'sound'

not saying its the same, but having a 'sound' is a positive attribute - if said 'sound' is interesting  and these guys are quite talented.   Time will tell.  but for now  excellent   another 9+
Lead vocals...Nancy Reagan
Backup    ... Ronnie
I love this band ❤️ .... love Kurt Vile too ❤️
I like it!
GOOD TUNE! The first time I heard this band was on RP. ...Thanx RP!
Can´t even start what this band means to me. Saved my life I think.
Consider Bernard Purdie and James Jamerson, et al for motivation. I saw Purdue once in the Hudson Valley area, it was the only time a drummer commanded my full attention. He is amazing!
Kurt Vile!
What a great band👍

Rebecca: I don't like reggae no no I really really dislike it, but thanks to you I understand it. You and Bill could have easily accepted my offer, I know $500 I sent in 2002, let alone the $5k I would have if you stopped playing reggae right then and there would have been beyond helpful - but you of course made the right call. Thank you for teaching me a lesson I never forgot hopefully now I can teach you one.

Thanks,

Don't get me wrong, I love these guys. My favorite Philly band at the moment. Props to Bill & Rebecca for giving them exposure.

That said, the rhythm section needs work. Some inspiration or just a kick in the ass for starters. Essentially the same tempo and pattern on every track. Mind numbing after a while.

Consider Bernard Purdie and James Jamerson, et al for motivation.

Well, preliminary research suggests they do, indeed, have a drummer. No word yet on whether said drummer is human or robot, however.

The war on drummers?
The Beaver Brown Band just popped into my head. Anybody else?

Personally I am glad that he 'cleaned up' as the songs on both albums are 'crafted' which means 'hard work' which means things go better when one is razor sharp straight.

This and the latest album are terrific.

'crafted', the most overused hipster word of the 21st century...along with 'makers'... like this is something new, or special? It's what real people have done for centuries...

Every time I hear this I like it more
Love War on Drugs, saw them at the O2 London with Slowdive and they blew me away.

Love this track! And I loved that segue from This Mortal Coil - Song to the Siren :)

I like this, even though something about the driving rhythm reminded me at first of Springsteen's "Dancing In the Dark," which I loathe.

Love this band and equally love the fact that it is relatively easy to share.

I have a question.   Does any of this band's songs have anything at all to do with the 'War on Drugs'?

Incidentally, for those that do not know, Canada just elected a federal government that has pledged to fully legalize, regulate and tax marijuana and other psychoactive cannabis products.

Yes!  Finally.  One of these days, we'll do the same for cocaine and heroin.

I was so torn, as Spoon was on the same night at Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park.  Spoon absolutely rocked, as did freaky Future Islands.  Hope to catch TWOD next time... don't feel as bad about missing them after hearing about the sound quality... durn.

Agree.  Though The War on Drugs reminds me a little of early Bruce Springstein and Tom Petty.

Bought CDs from Future Islands and The War on Drugs recently thanks to RP.  Love them both.  Terrific road CDs.

BillG's comments on a comment are amusing to say the least.

Those dudes comprised the Departments of Psychiatry at what was then called the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) but is now called Georgia Regents University (GRU)...  is that institutional name change just a sliding signifier, or is it institutional schizophrenia?

I have read The Mask of Sanity by Hervey Cleckley, which begins with the Latin phrase "non teneas aurum totum quod splendet ut aurum"...  it means, "Do not take as gold everything that shines like gold..."  the book is about how psychopaths can appear sane on the surface—  how they can wear a mask of sanity...  Cleckley also proposes in the book that there are a LOT of psychopaths, and he quotes from Shakespeare's Hamlet—  "They come not single spies. But in battalions!"...

paranoid schizophrenics are out to get me...  I know it...
