I'm not together, and you know it's true.
My bits all wander in the trees.
And if I ever seem a little strange,
Would you excuse me please?
I said I'm human, but you know I lie.
I'm only visiting this shore.
I'll soon be leaving in the outbound tide
I pray again we will meet.
I'm wasting your time, just talking to you
Maybe best you go on home.
I'll leave you alone, fade from your mind,
Slip into the greens and blues.
I said I'm human, but you know I lied.
I'm only visiting this shore.
I'll soon be leaving in the outbound tide.
I pray again we will meet.

How nice to hear Sonic Youth followed by the Pixies. Thank you!

It's crazy how much music I discovered here and how much I play it at home, considering my way too large collection of vinyl, plastic, and flac.
I donate when I can, not as often as you, but I do. I even got me and my then girlfriend matching RP pajamas :-) Check it on the merch section!

Awesome. Supertramp followed by Pixies. Love it.
Just when I start thinking there's no hope for this world, I hear the opening chords of this song. Thank God for it.
Instant joy:
Pixies
Led Zeppelin
Jeff Beck

Pixies is full of beautiful harmonics no other band uses, it's so musically poetical and full of harmonic passages, syncopations, key changes and everything else to make this music so lovable and colorful like no other. Thats why I love them. My fave is Head Carrier album. Incredible and one of a kind - The Pixies.
Cheap Trick followed by the Pixies. It must be Bill’s “great live acts” playlist.
i never get tired of their sound rate 7
Such a great tune from such a great band!
That's better
Quote from Kurt Cobain:
"I was basically trying to rip off the Pixies. I have to admit it . When I heard the Pixies for the first time, I connected with that band so heavily I should have been in that band – or at least in a Pixies cover band. We used their sense of dynamics, being soft and quiet and then loud and hard." - Kurt Cobain, January 27, 1994, Rolling Stone Magazine

I don't share your perception of this music but I really like the way you tell the story. I could almost see the place between Welsh's bar and a painting by Hooper coming to live.
It's like seeing an old friend you used to party with and ... woosh ... yer ready to go to your old bar and smoke the ol' pack of cigarettes, drink the same pint of beer, swing by that taco joint for a late nighter and wake up and do it all over again.
But wait, the old friend turns out to be kind of a dick and you forgot that part where he likes flying saucers. Nobody smokes anymore. Drinking gives you heartburn and the taco joint is now a TJ Max.
That's how I feel about the Pixies' new album.

I fully expected this album to suck (the 'old band' + 'new album' combination isn't usually a good one) ... but it really isn't bad at all. I particularly like the title track.

I don't hear that any more than any of their other influences, unless I were specifically listening for a Jeff Lynne 'sound', but two different people could hear three or four notes of a song and easily be reminded of entirely different influences. This tune does have a sort of descending melody, which Lynne's tunes often had; maybe that's it.

Not all that bad! I don't really get all the negative reviews about this album. I agree it's the worst of their career, but it's still a decent album with some really good songs.

Sounds just fine ... and feeling grateful for more Pixies. I actually missed them the first time around, started listening a couple of years ago, and am always very happy when they come on.

Hearing more from the album will be great! Regarding the line, "I'm wasting your time just talking to you", I'm thinking that it might have a lot to do with the title of the song, "Greens and Blues", as those items tend to make one feel "tired" and, maybe, self-critical. Anyway, I like this track and can't wait to hear more from the rest of the album.
Tad tame, for the Pixies, same progressions, but wonder if the line "I'm wasting your time just talking to you" and the tired delivery is the message...will have to hear more from this album.

Sounds Good!
Distinctly Pixiesque chord sequences, but about as exciting as the latest Depeche Mode drivel. Most disappointing, but still better than a lot of new stuff out there. As you can tell, my opinion may or may not be ambiguous.

Like it a lot. An 8 from me
For me it's more like hooking up with a friend you haven't seen in 23 years, only to find out that you have both lived life, aged, matured, and mellowed. No need to smoke and drink - we've both been there/done that. Instead, just hanging out with that comfortable familiarity yet having new conversations.
Just lovely.
Just lovely.
I can see how these guys had some new sounds that influenced other bands, but they could not bring it all together in a good way themselves ---- a most forgetable band. They remind me of Sonic Youth.
