Time won't change you
Money won't change you
I haven't got the faintest idea
Everything seems to be up in the air at this time
I need something you change your mind
Drugs won't change you
Religion won't change you
Science won't change you
Looks like I can't change you
I try to talk to you, to make things clear
but you're not even listening to me...
And it comes directly from my heart to you...
I need something to change your mind.
Money won't change you

Everything seems to be up in the air at this time
I need something you change your mind
Drugs won't change you
Religion won't change you
Science won't change you
Looks like I can't change you
I try to talk to you, to make things clear
but you're not even listening to me...
And it comes directly from my heart to you...
I need something to change your mind.

tedious boring byrne- sorry do not like
Been a TH fan since the mid 80's.
Love the live album 'The name of the band is Talking Heads'
You can feel how they evolved.
Great track!

just listening the interview in the podcast of Marc Maron with Jerry Harrison and now this song, and yes: Talking Heads definitely did some of the best music in the last 50 years, and yes, we should listen at least on TH record per week ! (and I am the first who has sinned, but will change this immediately)
EXCELLENT!! Thanx RP!

Yes. This is the original version (only one I know of).
Is this the version that was on the original album? Seems like different phrasing. I still like it Those that weren’t around when it was released - consider what was getting airplay at the time .... this is great

Love em. Saw them in '86. Byrne along with Howard Devoto from Magazine are 2 of my favourite lyric writers
Plodding and tedious experiment.
Yet another example of "way ahead of their time."
This is ghastly. Just because it got recorded doesn't mean it has to be played.
I don't think I'd normally rate this so high (7) but under the current political climate, the lyrics really speak to me!

Creepy in a good way, in an originally new wave manner and TH was the master band at this. Science won’t change you....love the lyrics!
I have trouble believing anyone ever thought this was good.

Timely lyrics too for the Chief Twit and other megalomaniac "leaders" today. What TH put into words in 1979, people more desparate to achieve something put into stones, bullets and bombs. One can understand their frustration, if not their misguided and ultimately futile violence.
But apart from all that, this music and singing sounds awful to me - a solid 2. I would not normally mark a song down from its current average, out of respect for those who do appreciate it. But this and many Bob Dylan songs are exceptions.
Edit... I just noticed the name of the album that this track came from. Well... that figures.
Now please excuse me, I have a bomb shelter to build.
Can you find another pulpit and platform to spew your political views and leave RP to just music. There are tons of other places to find others to echo to your thoughts.
Thank

Generally, I like Talking Heads, but this is not one of their great songs.

wow. my first first comment.
"like a virgin, ____for the very first time"!
over 40 songs from TH's on RP.
seems appropriate to me.
thanks Bill.
