Father he enjoyed collisions, others walked away
A snowflake falls in may
And the doors are open now as the bells are ringing out
'Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow, goodbye for now
Nature has its own religion, gospel from the land
Father ruled by long division, young men they pretend
Old men comprehend.
And the sky breaks at dawn, shedding light upon this town, they'll all come 'round
Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow, goodye for now
And the road the old man paved
The broken seams along the way
The rusted signs, left just for me
He was guiding me, Love, his own way
Now the man of the hour is taking his final bow
As the curtain comes down I feel that this is just goodbye for now

No, there isn't. Clear Channel hasn't existed for over 10 years.
Clear Channel is still here. just has a new name ... I ♥ Radio.
No, there isn't. Clear Channel hasn't existed for almost 10 years.
Correction: https://clearchanneloutdoor.com still exists. However, the streaming audio service does not.
Instead of a song comment, a movie comment: Big Fish is one of my all time favorites. A movie that can be watched multiple times and depending on where you're at, it can tear / tear you up.
Try it out sometime if you've exhausted your Netflix To Watch list.
Another movie with a good sound track; “Reign On Me” breaks me up with every viewing.

Thank God!!
The authorities have towed away the bus. I guess, too much tourista.

Relax, man; there's not a conspiracy afoot. "Guantanamera" gets a squiggly red line because it is not an English word or a geographical word. Roughly translated it means a female from the Guantanamo area of Cuba.
I always thought a Guantanamera was a 2000 lb. Italian female horse.

Thanks, I gathered that. The point I was trying to make is that if you type in La Jagua, or Cainamera or Boqueron, other small places in Cuba, you're getting the squiggles. So Guantanamo is not getting it probably as it became notorious for the reasons we all know about. Unless widely known and identified as such by the spell checker, geographical names will get the squiggles :-)
And what prompted my comment was just the collision (and collisions are good sometimes) between what I was feeling about "Guantanamera" and the suggestion offered to replace it. I wasn't implying there was any intention underlying this. Just highlighting the fact that I thought the world might be a better place with Guantanamera being more well-known than Guantanamo.
And on a more personal note, it's nice chatting with you as I quite enjoy reading your comments and witty replies :-)
Funny, educational and humble posts you two! Good job guys (hey now....I tried to type 'gals' but a squiggly red line came up....)
I'm gonna go 7 to 8 on this....based mostly on the strength of the movie....Long Live RP!!

What's reality at the end of the day? The stories were all true even though unreal!
Yep, kind of film that has your chin trembling a bit, a mist in your eyes. I notice that this is getting worse (or better?) as I'm watching some of these films with my kids.
The same thing happened (misty eyes and wobbly chin) the other day when I put Pete Seeger's Guantanamera on for them to listen to.
Weird isn't it?
P.S. What a F**ed up world we're living in!! The spellchecker has the squiggly red line for Guantanamera, and when right-clicking, it suggests "Guantanamo"!! Just horrible!!

Hey, I actually made out a few of the words. Uh, I think.
Never knew Cyanera but I miss him/her based on your re-postings....thank you Lazarus for sharing and keeping the memory of Cyanera current
Never knew her either, just from reading the reposts of her statements here. Still touched me with her way of seeing the good and divine in the little things in life. We could all do that more often.
Amen. Please stop singing, Eddie.
To you maybe, my friend, but to me and many many others, this is sublime....
Peace
Sublime to me also.

Yes, it is an excellent film.

This stupid song prompted me to confront my brother with what to do with our parents' ashes (yes, we still have them.) After much discussion, we decided that the rest of the family (a sister, a niece, a nephew) won't give a rat's spats what we do with the ashes because they each got their little half-a-cup full of ash to do with what they wanted. (Gruesome and creepy, really.)
So - bro and I decided that once the growing season is over and stuff is due to be cut back, we'll rototill the garden area, plant our parents' ashes (sans containers) in a special place in the garden, and then have a stepping-stone to mark the place. If their ashes enhance the soil, great. If they don't, it's still good, because Mom and Dad lived in this house for over 40 years, so it's their ground. They should be laid to rest where they were most at home - at home.
I hate Pearl Jam for making me go into this before I was ready.... I love Pearl Jam for the same reason.
....this is just goodbye for now....
Thank you Cynaera,

Another time to pause and take note of the power music has on our fellow travelers — and not everyone in the same way, or the same music — and to remember to be considerate in our comments. I'm not always, but I will try to be. Thanks, Cynaera, for the reminder.

Thanks for writing this. We played this song at my dad's wake, and it was perfect.
Your welcome. I lost a few loved ones last year. Music can be a wonderful remembrace. Peace.

I've seen her mentioned in the past tense a few different times... I'm really sad to hear that she left us, we messaged back and forth a couple times.
Does anyone know what happened?
According to this obituary Cynaera (Ann) suffered from a subdural hematoma. There's a forum thread dedicated to her.
Even though I didn't know her in person, her comments really seemed to convey her personality. To see them being bumped up makes me think that the internet creates some kind of immortality. I think it's great as long as you're remembered for the right reasons.
To you maybe, my friend, but to me and many many others, this is sublime....

I'm hoping her wishes were honored. You are missed Cynaera.

Never mind the cremation, which is an awful waste of energy and materials. Just stick my body into a cardboard coffin and plant a tree on top. Might as well recycle valuable nutrients and put a little something back.

Wait a second! Rats wear spats???????
I think I know what you mean and I assume it has nothing to do with American Sign Language or "Jiggle Bells". I like this tune, but more in connection with the film.
good point....i've decieded to lower my rating to a 6 from 8. his new album sucks, too
You are a zombie? Cool!
.
I've been accused of worse.
I liked this to be played at my funeral.

Yeah, and then I'd kick 'em in the gut.
Eddie Vedder ruins PJ, which is otherwise a good band.
I don't like most of their stuff, but even the ones I like (like this one) are annoying to listen to b/c of his voice.
So spot on!!!
Bird .......Did we win!
Of course, this is a Pearl Jam song, with the whole band joining in and playing, in the same style to be found throughout their work. Side by side with their hard and fast rocking are their slow and easy songs, so well chronicled i the "down" side of their greatest hits LP.
Check it out people who like Eddie but not the band.
I liked this to be played at my funeral.
Is it morbid to put your whole funeral playlist together?
I liked this to be played at my funeral.
here it is...
i like pearl jam's music, and hate eddie vedder, but like eddie vedder's solo stuff more than pj's (which makes me hate eddie vedder even more). yeah, that's right.
side note: i sold all my pearl jam albums about 5 years ago after a super b.s. pearl jam concert, and still would never buy a p.j. or e.v. album ever again based solely on that show. never bought e.v. solo album in the first place. i'll even go one further and say: f temple of the dog. i dig temple of the dog, and cornell is my favorite rock singer ever, but e.v. is bitch.
end of rant.
The most amazing statement in here is abou a super b.s. pearl jam concert. I've been to dozens. Fact_ They are the BEST LIVE BAND ALIVE.

You look around at the state of things these days and ain't it funny? Isn't it a giggle? This song could be a background score to all the hurricanes, the politics, the global wars and nuttiness that is our existence today.
