You are here and warm
But I could look away and you'd be gone
'Cause we live in a time
When meaning falls in splinters from our lives
And that's why I've travelled far
'Cause I come so together where you are

And all of the things that I said that I wanted
Come rushing by in my head when I'm with you
Fourteen joys and a will to be merry
All of the things that we say are very

Sentimental, gentle wind
Blowing through my life again
Sentimental lady, gentle one
Sentimental, gentle wind
Blowing through my life again
Sentimental lady, gentle one

Now you are here today
But easily you might just go away
Because we live in a time
When paintings have no color, words don't rhyme
And that's why I've travelled far
'Cause I come so together where you are

Yeah
And all of the things that I said that I wanted
Come rushing by in my head when I'm with you
Fourteen joys and a will to be merry
And all of the things that we say are very

Sentimental, gentle wind
Blowing through my life again
Sentimental lady, gentle one
Sentimental, gentle wind
Blowing through my life again
Sentimental lady, gentle one

You are here and warm
But I could look away and you'd be gone
'Cause we live in a time
When meaning falls in splinters from our lives
And that's why I've traveled far
'Cause I come so together where you are

Yes
And all of the things that I said that I wanted
Come rushing by in my head when I'm with you
Fourteen joys and a will to be merry
All of the things that we say are very

Sentimental, gentle wind
Blowing through my life again
Sentimental lady, gentle one
Sentimental, gentle wind
Blowing through my life again
Sentimental lady, gentle one

Sentimental, gentle wind
(All of the things that I said that I wanted)
Blowing through my life again
(Come rushing by in my head when I'm with you)
Sentimental lady
(Fourteen joys and a will to be merry)
Gentle one
(All of the things)
(Well)

Sentimental, gentle wind
(All of the things that I said that I wanted)
Blowing through my life again
(Come rushing by in my head when I'm with you)
Sentimental lady
(Fourteen joys and a will to be merry)
Gentle one
(All of the things that we say are very)
(Well)

Sentimental, gentle wind
(All of the things that I said that I wanted)
Blowing through my life again
(Come rushing by in my head when I'm with you)
Sentimental lady
(Fourteen joys and a will to be merry)
Gentle one

It was a mac song long before it was a solo Bob Welsh song.  Bob Welsh (the guy who wrote the song) was in the band Fleetwood Mac in 1972 when this song was written and released on the 'Bare Trees' album.  5 years later he released it on his first solo album 'French Kiss'.    I have to agree though, the solo version is a bit better.

I had no idea that Mac did a version of this song and I rather wish they hadn't. Eh.

Talk about a flashback to high school! I can almost smell the Love's Baby Soft.

Is this a little played version of this song? The recording quality sounds very different from what I remember.

Love's Baby Soft?  Funny, that reminds me of a (very cute) girl from high school who walked around in a cloud of "Shower to Shower" aroma. It's a vivid sense memory.

I agree about the recording sounding different from what I remember.

Damn, this is good.
Hee hee.  From the Wikipedia entry on this song:

This song appears in the movie Grown Ups, and Maya Rudolph describes this as the "whitest song ever".

Damn, I have that album (French Kiss, not Fleetwood Mac).  Poor Bob, didn't know.  We'll miss you.

Wouldn't mind hearing that version instead of this one.  No turntable though...
Well, at least Bob Welch lives on in his music. It's great to be a talented musician or an artist. They leave behind something that continues to give so many joy long for so long after they're gone.
Wow... I love Fleetwood Mac and this had me turning the volume knob down. I'm not used to doing that on here {#Eek}... I gotta give this one a mere ho hum - 3.

Oh well, you can go your own way.
This song sounds so contemporary, like it could've been done by Band of Horses or something. So strange. Never heard it before.

Wow! Fleetwood Mac? I thought someone else did this. Did Bob Welsh do a cover of this?

Bob Welch wrote it and recorded it with Fleetwood Mac on Bare Trees, then re-recorded and released it on a solo album about five years later - which became a hit.

I haven't heard this song in years!  Thank you.
Wow, really? Fleetwood Mac? Would never have guessed.
More like Bread or that band that sang "Afternoon Delight."

Always thought this was America.
More Fleetwood Mac!

Me neither. I haven't heard this song in forever. I like it.
I never knew this was a Fleetwood Mac song.

This song used to be played on the opening of the 'Oldies 105.5' radio show back in the mid 90's here in Córdoba, Argentina.
Never found out what the song name or interpreter was until pointed to by a friend in the same day Bob Welch passed..... sad he passed the way he did, glad to finally find the song and able to remember him through it...

Makes me sad to hear about Bob Welch...

I feel the same way. I have had thoughts about getting off this crazy bus we call earth sometimes, but fortunately I wake up with the desire to keep my seat on this merry-go-round and hope to be listening to the sounds and seeing the beautiful sights for many years to come. I hope Bob is in the company of friends and happiness surrounds him. This album has always been one of my most favorite, guess because it was the very first Fleetwood Mac album I bought when it was first released. I'll listen to the last cut tonight, when the old woman recites a poem at the end of the last song.
I totally remember this tune from the radio when I was a kid. Did not know it was associated with Fleetwood Mac.

Very sorry to hear about Bob.
Makes me sad to hear about Bob Welch...
Old Fleetwood Mac songs need to be played more often!  Up to, but not necessarily including the Stevie Nicks/Lindsay Buckingham era.

I absoluely love the stuff.

Guess I'm still stuck in the early seventies

Steve
R.I.P. Bob Welch...
Von voyage Bob☀
I get lots of chills and great happy vibes mixed with tears when I hear this song.
Possibly their best post-Green, pre-Buckingham/Nicks Joe Walsh tune
