Your message kind of reminds me of the Johnny Mathis song from 1973 "Life is a Song Worth Singing" - which Teddy Pendergass turned into a #1 R&B (or Soul?) Album in (I think) 1978. I tried adding this to the RP Library and no go....it's one of the more important tracks in my life, both the message and the great instrumentation:
Life is a song worth singing
Can't change your life 'cause it's out of your hand, so sad
'Cause the world ain't been treating you right
Don't you know you contain the power
To control destiny with your mind
You're a fool if you think you're helpless
Can't change your life 'cause it's out of your hand, so sad, no
You got to control destiny with your mind
Right here, right here, right here
You decide what to do with your life, well, well
But I remember the scene in I Am Legend with the virus doctor strangling his soon to be zombie dog.
Bob made this happy gem with his god loving talent & enormous spirit. Mary Jane was not involved at all. I was pretty sure ganja was involved too since it is part of the rasta religion... but surprisingly it appears it might not have been:

One of the most famous photos of Marley was him smoking a giant spliff. It was subsequently removed from the photo; never to be seen again.

Bob made this happy gem with his god loving talent & enormous spirit. Mary Jane was not involved at all. I mean, I'm pretty sure Mary Jane was there. Maybe not involved, who can say, but with Bob, she was always hanging around...

This song always brings me to a place of gratitude, for my co-worker, and most of all for my husband who lived thru an incredibly difficult time.
I will always love this song.

The more i listen to this song "Three Little Birds" never get tired, whose original by Bob Marley and the Wailers, first published in 1977 (album "Exodus"). Simplicity, hope, positivism, although Bob Marley have been a fighter, a nonconformist. It is the type of songs that did not choose age, being transversal to all ages, any time, but nevertheless, even after almost 4 decades, has particular impact on new generations, recall here cover by very young British singer Connie Talbot. Stephen Marley - Three Little Birds (Bing Lounge).

I like to think that a life lived well is one full of play, love, compassion and exploration - regardless of who you are or what your situation is. Maybe the society and/or community and/or family you grew up in have convinced you, against your better innate judgement, that you're not allowed to be a happy, carefree person unless you are generally miserable, overworked, fearful and cynical. Maybe you've suffered a blow in the past that you refuse to let go of and it's been chewing on you from the inside ever since. Perhaps your chosen profession or your chosen life partner or your chosen inebriate has been slowly poisoning the happy person that you used to be and the passing of the long years has masked the process, such that you don't even know how you got to where you are — where you've forgotten what it means to be really happy — where you're just trying to make it through each day. So many good people are so damn sad.
You have more power over your own life than you may think you do. The sun will rise tomorrow, life will go on and you can change. Sometimes the key is to throw it all away — to stop worrying, to have faith in yourself and in the universe that everything will be alright. The song repeats its message because it' bears repeating: Let it go and really live.
well then! I DID NOT know you had this in you @crogers - and I'm so happy to have found this gem of a comment on a gem of a song sung by a gem of a man.

Worst to first to worst to...?
Which is indeed what this song, and all his songs, sound like.

. . . says someone who rated Grateful Dead a 10.
Joe, I think the ratings speak for themselves. I can understand people not liking Bob or indeed Reggae in general but there is certainly a place for both here at RP.
Just chill, reggae for me us way underplayed here and if it grates for you, then use PSD or wait a couple of mins. . . something great will be along before you know it.
Boring and mindlessly repetitious is boring and mindlessly repetitious, I don't care HOW banal your tastes may be. I'm dropping my score from a 2 to a 1.

Tanya Donelly, daughter and friends
June 18, 2010, Joe's Pub, New York City, Tanya Donelly, her daughter Gracie, and Gracie's friends perform a few songs together to celebrate the release of "Sing Me to Sleep - Indie Lullabies" (which I co-produced with Joe Spadaro at American Laundromat Records). Tanya recorded a cover of "Moon River" for the award-winning compilation, and Marley´s Three Little Birds. Video and audio recordings by Thomas Polansky of autolyzeband.com. ~katesnowbird on May 1, 2011
(Marley´s Three Little Birds begins at 4:20 min) candy & funny! I think also pleased to B. Marley.

This one will always get to me. I remember playing it for my mom the first time she got breast cancer. (She beat it that time, and had a good 12 year run!)
trusting Bill!
and now I'm not worrying 'bout a t'ing...
I wit' you, mon!

So good for de soul!

No disrespect for everyone who loves this song and reggae in general, I am glad it gives you happiness. But I am with jlind.

and now I'm not worrying 'bout a t'ing...
I used to play/sing this song in the morning when I woke my daughter up for school when she was a little. Always guaranteed she would get up with a smile, rather than a frown.
And then there are those like me who obviously haven't smoked enough weed to understand reggae.
...and you are the one who does Free Range Data Monkey as occupation, what is it that you smoke then?
I do like your comment on Vieux Farka Toure - Bullet the Blue Sky A LOT
I like Reggae, it's nice to dance, a bit of Africa, a bit of Latin, not too bad...you should try :)
careful, there, Chief:

I never get tired of listening to Bob.
YEAH!!!

He's probably the one who's "more famous than Jesus". Transcending cultures.
