Brother bought a coconut, he bought it for a dime
His sister had another one, she paid it for a lime
She put the lime in the coconut, she drank them both up
She put the lime in the coconut, she drank them both up
She put the lime in the coconut, she drank them both up
She put the lime in the coconut, she called the doctor, woke him up
And said, Doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take
I say, doctor, to relieve this bellyache?
I say, doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take
I say, doctor, to relieve this bellyache?
Now let me get this straight
You put the lime in the coconut, you drank them both up
You put the lime in the coconut, you drank them both up
Put the lime in the coconut, you drank them both up
Put the lime in the coconut, you called your doctor, woke him up
And said, Doctor, ain't there nothing I can take
I said, Doctor, to relieve this bellyache?
I said, Doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take
I said, Doctor, to relieve this bellyache?
You put the lime in the coconut, you drink 'em both together
Put the lime in the coconut, then you feel better
Put the lime in the coconut, drink 'em both up
Put the lime in the coconut, and call me in the morning
Whoo-whoo-whoo, whoo-ooh-ooh, whoo-ooh-ooh
Whoo-whoo-whoo, whoo-ooh-ooh, whoo-ooh-ooh
Whoo-whoo-whoo, whoo-ooh-ooh, whoo-ooh-ooh
Whoo-whoo-whoo, whoo-ooh-ooh, whoo-ooh-ooh

Put a lime in the coconut and drink 'em both together
Put the lime in the coconut, then you feel better
Put the lime in the coconut, drink 'em both down
Put the lime in the coconut, and call me in the morning
Whoo-whoo-whoo-whoo, ain't there nothin' you can take
I say, whoo-whoo-whoo-whoo, to relieve your bellyache
You say, well, whoo-whoo-whoo-whoo, ain't there nothing I can take
I say, whoo-whoo, to relieve your bellyache
You say, yeah, ain't there nothin' I can take

LOL, Here is another request to not play "Harry Nilsson - Coconut".
FWIW, I believe this song is on the Up in Smoke soundtrack. Considering how much I like the Up in Smoke soundtrack and RadioParadise, but don't like this song then it must be that this song has some non obvious benefit.
Could it be that this this songs sucks so bad that it makes the other songs on RP and the soundtrack better than they actually are?
Hey Bill,
Please add me to the ever increasing list of RP listeners that DO NOT ever want to hear this again! It's a cycle: the more you play it, the more the DO NOT play list grows.

I uploaded quite a good version on the LRC by the Beautiful South, so vote, people!
Delightful.
Gonna go make one right now.
Weak song, which does (I think) a dis-service to an otherwise great songwriter. Please drop this song from the playlist and replace it with pretty much anything else he wrote
INteresting introduction Bill.
And my wife heard the opening bars and yelled Turn It Up...
Now she is singing along.
Should I be frightened?
Ahh, screw it, it is Saturday eve.
Don't listen to those Nilsson haters! They hate our freedom! (I give this song a "9"! )
Silly fun song by an incredibly gifted man.
As performed by the muppets
Relieve this flipper ache...
The only problem with Coconut is that it displaces all the other excellent Nillson songs, like "Gotta Get Up", "Early in the Morning", or "Jump into the Fire". Especially Jump into the Fire.
"Everybody's Talkin" would be nice.
Play this and any of Harry's songs as much as you want Bill !!!
How about "Remember (Christmas)" "Early In The Morning" "The Moonbeam Song"?

I did not expect this song to be sung by someone that looked like him.... Ahh, I am always learning.

LOL If this is his personal best, as the album cover touts, my sympathies to him and to us. Judging the book (album) by its cover, he faired no better in the personal appearance category. I will say that on a humorous level, he gets some points from me. Unfortunately for him, I don't think it was what he was shooting for. Ouch.
This song is classic!
It's also the last song in the soundtrack to Resevoir Dogs. Doctor is there something I can take to relieve this belly ache, indeed!

Are you serious?
Harry is a national treasure.
Check out the tribute CD "Everybody Loves Harry", very cool.
If you're going to play Nilsson... how about "Blanket For A Sail"? I sang that one to my daughter every night for years.
I dunno - The Be Good Tanyas' When Doves Cry is making a run for most "unrequested" song!
I never heard this one before. It's rather silly but fun and enjoyable.
And is this really the song with the most requests for having it never played again? I think of seen more hated ones.

I agree! Music does not have to taken seriously ALL the time!!!
Someone needs to do a dance remix of this.

Cheers!

I never heard the Woolite one, would like more info on it so I can pursue it. Finally someone who shares my sense of humor! Thank you, fellow listener!
Yes, one sort of has to be in a mood to be amused, I guess. Although I wasn't when it came on, and it made me laugh again.
Not quite sure why I like Dreadlock Holiday, yet hate this one so much, but there we are. This is AWFUL!

A fabulous addition to RP. Thanks to Brooke for turning us on to this one.

I wish someone (more computer savvy than myself) would upload "You're Breakin' My Heart" from Nilsson/Scmilsson. The chorus is "You're breakin' my heart, you're tearin it apart, so f*ck you!" Hilarious and ROCKIN stuff from Harry (with Ringo Starr). Anybody up for the upload?
Yes, but has this song been used yet for the ending credits of a Pixar animated movie?
Only THEN will will it be deemed to be a true classic....
Yeah, it's an ear-worm song, but this guy was really creative...hope Bill will start playing some of Nilsson's less-heard stuff...like his standards or deep cuts from The Point soundtrack.
GREAT song!! I stole Nilsson Schmilsson from my sister and never gave it back! Dig it.
I.
Love.
RP.
Now lemme get this straight...
Love this song--I haven't heard it in ages.

One of my favorite Nilsson tunes, next to Think About Your Troubles!
Nilsson Schmilsson came out the year I was born. Still one of the best albums in both my Dad's and my collection. Goin' Down, Without You, Jump Into the Fire, hell, the whole album is good.
I was going to blast this with a low rating, but then I remembered singing this as a kid and I started laughing too hard! --- 8
