I've been waiting here since this morning
I'll wait as long as it will take
Down in the old town of the city of New Orleans
With my heart so heavy it might break
Last night they put up a hurricane warning
Last night you came into my room
Around midnight the rain started falling
I was holding on to you
Come on, Sheila, let's run
Don't stop believing that I love you
Don't let them keep you in that paradise of fools
Sheila was a dancing girl working in the evening
On the altar of old men's fantasies
She hitched down from north Mississippi
With a lot of hope and one pair of jeans
Come on, Sheila, let's run
Don't stop believing that I love you
Don't let them keep you in that paradise of fools
Last night Sheila she told me she loved me
She said' "Baby what took you so long?"
Tonight I am going to steal her from the city
Before she does herself harm
Come on, Sheila, let's run
Don't stop believing that I love you
Don't let them keep you in that paradise of fools
I'll wait as long as it will take
Down in the old town of the city of New Orleans
With my heart so heavy it might break

Great to hear Zachary Richard on RP! This is not one of his better ones, but I'm not complaining. A little New Orleans flavor to start the day works for me!
Meh! Too much country twang for my taste. A station changer if this was a radio in the car.

Zac is a star in Quebec. First heard him on radio in the late 70' (he had a smash with a song called "L'Arbre est dans ses feuilles (the tree is in it's (own) leaves". All his stuff, either in french or in english is worthy.
I saw Zachary in Parc Jarry in 1978 at an all day festival called "Sur les Gazon, Sous Les Etoiles". I might have been the only Anglophone in the crowd but I had a blast with my Quebecois companions. Zachary lit the place up, and I have been trying to remember the name of that particular song for years... Just another way that RP pays off..... Thanks Dior
Btw this song is not his strongest work in my opinion.

I have GOT to get my ZR CD into my Sidekick. His voice just breaks my heart in the best of ways. Love his music...
Nice.
OMG! Zachary Richard! Right after Lyle Lovett... I think I might faint from happiness... Has anyone ever heard "Cap Enrage"? I have the CD, but I can't find it - if I do, I'll try to upload a couple of tracks from it. Zachary Richard is worth a listen!
bleh.
# 7,,only for the B3 ! (i think) must have the cans on next time
First time I've heard this and it's outstanding. Good pick RP!
Kinda cool lyrics, since Ike is headed for TX/LA....

Started at a 7 but gets dropped one point every 5 times I hear "come on Sheila let's run" at the end. So, we have a 4.

sounds more like jackson brown with a twang, to me.
I agree.
FYI, Zach has remastered a lot of his older material, for those who know him from "way back when"....They're only available on his website.
*edit* not his best song...Bill needs to play one of his ROCKING songs...then perhaps the Mick Jagger reference would make more sense.
Mediocre hogwash. Come on, Sheila? Give me a break. It's Friday. Let's boost the scene!
Jayhawks?
Sounding?
Solid, and very, very American.
I'm listening to this and I'm thinking this sounds vaguely familiar. Maybe a cover? Seems to me there is alot of music and bands that sound like this.
this is nonesense

Jimmy Buffett called Zach the "cajun Mick Jagger", though I don't know why?
JCMellencamp wants his guitar chords back...

FYI, the word ''cajun'' is a corrupted pronunciation of ''Acadian.'' Thousands of Acadians were deported from Canada's maritime provinces by the conquering British in the Great Expulsion of 1755, and many went to Louisiana. (The deportees would not take an oath of allegiance to the British Crown as they thought this would require them to bear arms against other Francophone brethren and compromise their Roman Catholic faith.) One of my grandfathers was an Acadian whose antecedents managed to stay in New Brunswick.
That is true. But in Louisiana, if your Mama and/or Daddy have Acadian ancestory, you call yourself Cajun. My Mama is of Acadian ancestory -- she's a Cajun and I'm a Cajun mutt. : )

That would make him Acadian, as in the Band's song Acadian Driftwood.
Zachary has got a lot really great material, check him out

Wow, never heard Zach on RP! Cool! Home boy!
You blew me away with this one - this guy\'s a gem - for the life of me I don\'t understand why tunes like this don\'t have wider appeal - Cote Blanche Bay is another great tune from this album (hint, hint)
Taber\'huit ... Zachary! Not since Montreal (a long time ago) have i heard him on radio. More more more. Saw him in New Orleans a few times and in Quebec more. Worth a trip in itself.

Wow!!! Even in Lafayette, you don\'t hear Zachary in on the
radio....maybe on a public station....maybe.
Good tune.
