Rapture
Waiting to capture that moment
Postponement
Suspension of rational movement
So bang on the hour of twelve
To the forest clearing we'll delve
With guns to our heads, for we know
That heaven awaits us
Dreaming of that perfect home by the sun
Run, Christian, run
Still dreaming of that perfect home by the sun
Run, Christian, run
Roaming
Roaming from all tribulation
Leaving
Leaving behind all damnation
With women and children in line
The men will then gather behind
With knives to their throats they'll depart
On the midnight train to Jordan
Still dreaming of that perfect home by the sun
Run, Christian, run
Wishing for that perfect home by the sun
Come kingdom come

It really takes off towards the end, right? Bumped up from 6 to 7 for that.
Never heard of this band till today. The music got me up to look at the screen to check out the lyrics.
Having been brought up in a Christian cult the whole tune resonated with me. This is (excuse the pun) close to God like

This song has grown on me over time. The repeating synth sound draws me in with how it changes over the course of the song - a banjo sound at times to points when it gets really distorted. Just love how it shifts and shapes and has a life of its own within the song.

I have this album and there are good tracks, but not this one for me. It just kind of plods along and never becomes very interesting to my ears.
Enjoy - those who like it - but not for me.

Looking across at America at the moment I’d imagine plenty are expecting the rapture any moment! Love these guys and this track but then I’m culturally biased.

IMHO pissing your pants is far from the worst thing you could do.
These guys... first 5 albums of theirs are solid (Radiator and Guerrilla are personal faves) - even their b-sides compilation has some awesome tracks (The Man Don't Give A F and Guacamole are just brilliant - also, the non album track Ice Hockey Hair is one of their very, very best!).
Basically, just check them out - my fellow countrymen, so a tad biased - feel free to ignore their Welsh language tracks (your loss! 😁) as there's plenty of quality around them 👍

Very interesting band. They pull off live shows well, which is surprising given the density of their production. This album is available as a DVD with surround envelopment. Very fun stuff!

Haven't listened carefully, but it sounds anti-Christian to me. Imagine what a brou-ha-ha there would if if someone made a song titled Run Jew, Run. The ADL would be suing RP for playing it.

A bit like the grateful dead to me, some is ok, some is just music to fall asleep to
My favorite song about a cult!
I'm upping my rating to compensate for all the low ones. I think this is great, although I don't normally like SFA at all.
Surprisingly low rating. What's the dealio?
I love this song, all these negative posts make me's think ya'll are listening to some other song
Why so much hate for this song? I like it a lot. SFA is a great band
I honestly don't understand why nobody likes this song. What's wrong with it? I like it a lot.
Remember 'The Gong Show' ?
Yeah. GONG.
But seriously, saved from being a ONE by the bit of guitar lead at the end.
p.s. - The comments for this one go back 16 years

I think it's a catchy song and I also found the lyrics amusing given recent news. Yes, I have a sick sense of humor, why do you ask?
love it
yuck creepy - and not interesting

Working, so tried to ignore this but just couldn't - never heard it before, thank you, RP
Quoted from somewhere:
"Bunf had a spate of being logged onto the internet most of the time, and he got heavily into doomsday cult websites, as an observer, not a participator. He printed out quite a lot of essays by these nutters, and I wrote the lyrics from there. And also when we were on tour in America we watched a lot of Christian television shows, the sort where preachers say 'It's not your money, it's God's money, so send in your cheques!'
"Cian had demo'd a repetitive theme with this loop that became the intro and outro, and I added a country rock verse, by which time Bunf had learnt the pedal steel. Bunf found the title and I started singing it on top of Cian's demo. Again we fancied ourselves as a vocal band."
Never heard anything from these chaps that meets with my approval, sorry.
Except this, which is growing on me.

Fantastic to hear SFAs amongst the rounded and eclectic mix. The sound of home for me (along with Tom Jones) and all the nicer as i live in NZ. Keep up the lovely music :)
Not for me either
Agree with so many others...would love to never hear this again.

It was surprisingly effective / inspirational just as we crossed over to the top of the Verrazano bridge into Brooklyn. Very memorable.

Guys—this is not a disco dance song. It's a slow, syrupy and sensual slow-dance song. See if you can make it all the way through without getting some serious suck-face action from these bluesy tunes.
Sounds more like "walk Christian, walk! Don´t fall asleep" !

I suppose this title won't be what people chant to Mitt Romney when he trots his most important self around the campaign trails. Sorry...I should remember the separation of politics and music. They should stay separate like the supposed 'church' and 'state'. I'm liking this song...that's what I really wanted to say...after all.
oh my, this song ... zzzzzz ....

As far as research goes, them little furry critters need to do... their homework.
This:
With women and children in line
The men will gather behind
With knives to their throats they'll depart
On the midnight train to Jordan.
That's not mainstream Christianity.
Heck, that's not even wacko Christianity.
That's Jim Jones' non-Christian heresy - or something like that.
I guess that's just the hazards of doing one's "research" on the Internet.
