I concede Pat's a good musician, but I also confess I couldn't help but wonder when Chuck Mangione was gonna pipe in. :?

Ew. Cable TV weather report music. Only one step up from elevator music. Sucko-Barfo. Patiently waiting for the next song...

wow I can't believe how much this reminds me of Muzak. Too bad, I genuinely like about 90% of what gets played here, but just can't get into this.

Elevator music at it's finest. Boring.

I adhere to the masses..no more crappy smooth jazz
well executed crap........great musician - bad music

Lame.
Snooze.
I vote that this come off the rotation. As far off and away from the regular rotation as possible.

Couldn't put it better. One of the few times when RP goes past eclectic to boring. Can't this go away to make room for new "adds" coming off the review channel?
Did this guy compose any 80s citcom songs?
Our local public radio uses this song as the theme song for the local news. So when I heard it I thought news was on the way. This is one song I'd like PR to drop.
Am I in an elevator ?! Am I still in bed dreaming of going shopping !? No ! I'm at work trying to start my day while this guy is trying to put me back to sleep...

pat methany must have a real brass set to slag kenny g when he's putting out drecky department store jazz like this...
I have the same feeling about this as I do about Chuck Mangione band in the '70s. So much talent totally wasted. You have to try hard to make music like this sound so monumentally generic.
I feel like I just walked into a JC Penney or something! Yick!
Great stuff from Metheny, Mays, Gottlieb and Egan. Especially love the fretless bass by Egan. Oh, they played it on the Weather Channel? So bleepin' what. It doesn't diminish PMG or this album in the slightest.

i'm quite sure they did use this piece on the weather channel....and now here's a look at your local forcast
great jazz act - but this is a little too much elevator music like

To me, a limited mentality is what made the surface so simplistic.
Who gives a fuck if Pat can hide his genius in the depths, when he wraps the same ole sound around it everytime?
My kids can be comedic geniuses as well, but that doesn't negate the fact that eventually the comedy loses everything in the repetition.
just like this jazz riff
Listening to this brings to mind atleast two hundread failed 80s sitcoms...
Saturday morning and I'm at the office...what are you trying to do ? Remind me I have to go to the store to buy myself some socks?

Pat's an all time fave and sure fire picker upper for me, I think this is the first time I've heard him on RP. Would request tracks from "First Circle" as well.

Metheny, Tesh. Yeah, they equate.
Too many people with ADD out there apparently.

Yeah I just asked my co-worker if she was on hold with Montgomery Ward . . .
metheny sounds like that crap stock music you hear at tradeshows.
snoooze!
BING... Next floor: Men's clothing....
Definately more Matheny. You cannot play too much PM or PMG for me. I may have to just submit some...
I third the requests for more Metheny. First Circle and Still Life Talking were the peaks of his career, IMO. Songs like Minuano (Six Eight) are brilliant, and sometimes dip into rock territory for a moment.
And more Weather Report too! Not that Birdland crap that everyone associates with them, either. For example, the back side (showing my LP roots there) of Domino Effect is a work of art. :bananabanger:

Amen! Pat's at the top of my list. Haven't heard this one in quite a while. Thanks, Bill!

I'm all for it
I\'d have to agree with the earlier comment stating Pat\'s guitar sound hasn\'t changed in 20 some-odd years. Still, I like hearing this type of stuff. (Beats the heck out of reggae if you ask me -- but I\'m sure you didn\'t ask.)

pleasegodno.
This is akin to Muzak, not music. Shouldn\'t be on the RP playlist.

Does have a nice "driving" feel. I always bring some Metheny for road trips. At least until RP is available on Sirius or XM
;)
Athough I would like to hear more Metheny, you could \"lose\" this one.

Perfect description. Not RP material!
Thanks Bill. When I was a little kid, somehow I I became convinced that this was a Hiroshima song, and spent many hours in various record stores looking for it. (Now that I\'m much older, I can tell it doesn\'t even sound like Hiroshima...) Great song.
Sounds like the theme music to some generic home improvement TV show :p
Brilliantly synchronous segue Bill !,
Pat\'s an all time fave and sure fire picker upper for me,

Hornsby and Metheny, a nice fresh dawn after a rather purgatorial set this AM
delightful!
This is top-down, spring day, driving up the Delaware music. Excellent.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Cleanses the \"palate\" nicely, doesn\'t it?
There is more going on here than the naysayer\'s often give Metheny credit for, but that\'s their isssue. Too bad for them. This is nice.

mmmmmmmmm... anybody ever hear of Carl Filipiak?
this Metheny track reminds me A LOT of some of Carl's more mellow stuff. he is truly an unsung guitar hero.

God, I love this music!! :D
This sounds great on RP.
I appreciate the music, but guys like Methany just don\'t know when to stop! Enough, already!
Ideal \"pause music\". The sort of music that gets played at a news station, when there\'s some time left before the commercials come in. Or, more positive, documentary music.
Very well played of course, but kinda meaningless. Maybe decorative music is a good term for it.
I keep hearing the Snoopy tune. Doesn\'t that sound pretty much like this?
yeah, i agree Shimmer. File under: Ho-Hum.
I used to love Pat Metheny, but every song he\'s done in the last ten years sounds the same. He has just that one guitar sound that he plays to death, and the band simply makes \"smooth\" jazz sounds in the background. Boring.
Brings back great memories!! More Metheny Please!
Wow, haven\'t heard this in a loooong time. Not since I had it on vinyl and certainly never on any broadcast medium. Thanks.
Seen him a half dozen or more times over the past 20 years. NEVER disappoints. The Pat Metheny Group selections are always good stuff. His new young horn player Cuong Vu has a really cool style. See this tour if you can. He played almost three hours a month or so ago in St. Louis, which I think was his first or second show on the most recent tour.
Pat also does some tremendous straight ahead jazz. Saw him with Ornette Coleman in the late 80\'s on the Song X Tour. The most amazing show I\'ve ever seen. Had Charlie Haden on bass and Jack DeJonette and his son on drums. Breathtaking.
I thought it was the theme from "The Rockford Files" for a second..
I can hear that. PS: I got dyslexic and thought your name was "cubesteak". LOL! ...no offense intended.
