Sometimes I get so sad
Sometimes you just make me mad

It's a sad and beautiful world
It's a sad and beautiful world

Sometimes I just won't go
Sometimes I can't say 'no'

It's a sad and beautiful world
It's a sad and beautiful world

Sometimes days go speeding past
Sometimes this one seems like the last

It's a sad and beautiful world
It's a sad and beautiful world

The man was a genius. Sadly missed along with Vic Chesnutt (who should also get played on here imo)

So many years later and there seems to be a disturbing lack of Chesnutt. Though maybe I just haven't heard it. Is there a place to view the songs that have been played here and how often, or other such stats?
Kinda boring.

So, this is sorta like a cover? An homage? Anyway, it's pretty. Not as sad as the original.

(Google Jim Jarmusch Down By Law sad and beautiful world if this video won't load)

Thought it was Wilco.
I have no words... RIP <3
Love eachother
Ran to the computer thinking, "Surely Bill isn't playing Michael Franks.  He NEVER plays Michael Franks!"  Hopes were soon dashed but I'll check out Sparklehorse, and Bill, if you're up to it, it might be good to add a little Michael Franks into the mix.  Thanks for the great music.

okay the nonsense lyrics of Any Major Dude were bad enough and now this?!

It's now two yrs later and I'm hearing the same set list you heard, Any Major Dude followed by Sad & Beautiful World. Don't know why I feel let own, even Bill's gotta sleep sometime. I like this song though, seems informed by Pale Blue Eyes.
Touching
One of my favourite record !! Thanks RP 😉
Interesting.  I'm liking the lo-fi slow feel to this, the dichotomy of sad and beautiful, rating the song a 6 + 1 for a cool album name.  Long Live RP!!

lowest of the low fi but i kinda dig it
Always liked Sparklehorse, would be great to hear more of him here.

Velvet Underground again......

Beat me to it! This one has Lou's fingerprints all over it!

I can see it now: Sparkelhorse, My Little Pony, and rainbow unicorns! Never heard of this group, glad to have done so today.
Velvet Underground again......
I ♥ Sparklehorse

Another good pick by RP. Thanks for introducing me to Sparklehorse!
I just discovered this song. Almost too sad but that's what makes it so great.
The man was a genius. Sadly missed along with Vic Chesnutt (who should also get played on here imo)
What a sad story..the song goes with it.{#Sad}
Since hearing of his passing this morning I have not been able to stop feeling a sense of sadness for the loss of a poet who viewed the world in a deep manner and sharing his gift.  Revenge with Danger Mouse has been a favorite since first hearing it here and, in the same manner as Jeffery, with a rough few years being reflected on the song helped me push past negativity to realize the value in remaining fair and compassionate despite the tides.

Thank you Sparklehorse, Danger Mouse and Radio Paradise.  Blessings to his family and may he be surrounded by a multitude of artists on the other side.

I always like to imagine musicians and writers who have passed on in a relaxed collaborative session.  With their prose becoming the inspirational muse new artist tap into when they say it came through them.  A little thing that helps me remember them with less sadness and a bit more hope.

Richmond's own. Saw him play at a local music store not too long ago.
SO SAD! His music and especially this song helped me through some very difficult times. I wish I could have helped him the way he did me. RIP.

RIP. {#Sad}  NPR did a really nice appreciation piece yesterday. I'm afraid I was unaware of Sparklehorse until now.

I was just thinking to meself:  "this sounds kinda nice".  And then Bill's voice comes on and announces his recent suicide.  Ouch.

Don't know the band; please play more.

And yeah, anything that remotely sounds like Lou Reed or the Cowboy Junkies is worth more than a spin.

RIP Mark.
is it siesta time or what?

RIP. {#Sad}  NPR did a really nice appreciation piece yesterday. I'm afraid I was unaware of Sparklehorse until now. According to his collaborators in Flaming Lips, he was in a lot of pain at the end of his life. May he find peace...

thrilled to hear sparklehorse again. has been too long for me.
oh god get over yourself - singer - geez repeating that cute phrase over and over takes all the meaning out!
I can't believe my ears! I thought I was the only Sparklehorse head!
I love this Sad & Beautiful World!
Sparklehorse, Knives Of Summertime, Dreamt for Lightyears in the Belly of a Mountain playin' on LRC at the same time, good one, if only 2 heads are better than 1
It's a Sad & Beautiful World. Indeed it is.
great albums!
Hah! This guy's from my town. Not that I have anything relevant to add in that regard. :-) The first thing I thought was, Lou Reedy, with a nice-sized studio set.

The vocals - actually the music too - sounds like Yo La Tengo. Real purdy song
That's what I thought too. I keep waiting for him to say, "I couldn't say that without making a joke".

Good crossover country-and-western-influenced soft rock. This is the type of thing that is PERFECT for background pleasantness during a workday. The apotheosis of deskwork-listening music. Might be able to listen to this all day long. Nothing irritating in it! :D
yeah, but it puts me to sleep

Hey, you're right. The vocals are different of course but the rest is very Cowboy Junkie like. I like it too.
