Emiliana Torrini — Gollum's Song
Where once was light
Now darkness falls
Where once was love
Love is no more
Don't say goodbye
Don't say I didn't try
These tears we cry
Are falling rain
For all the lies you told us
The hurt, the blame
And we will weep to be so alone
We are lost
We can never go home
So in the end
I'll be what I will be
No loyal friend
Was ever there for me
Now we say goodbye
We say you didn't try
These tears you cry
Have come too late
Take back the lies
The hurt, the blame
And you will weep
When you face the end alone
You are lost
You can never go home
You are lost
You can never go home
Now darkness falls
Where once was love
Love is no more
Don't say goodbye
Don't say I didn't try
These tears we cry
Are falling rain
For all the lies you told us
The hurt, the blame
And we will weep to be so alone
We are lost
We can never go home
So in the end
I'll be what I will be
No loyal friend
Was ever there for me
Now we say goodbye
We say you didn't try
These tears you cry
Have come too late
Take back the lies
The hurt, the blame
And you will weep
When you face the end alone
You are lost
You can never go home
You are lost
You can never go home

I think there are few posts on RP I could ever disagree more wholy with than this... everything about Jackson's version far outstrips anything anyone tried to do in animation in the 70s... Jackson's trilogy is I think film's equivalent of the Eifel Tower, a modern masterpiece on so many levels (including the score)...
Well, nothing against Emiliana, but I think that both Peter Jackson's LOTR soundtracks are horrible.
For a great LOTR soundtrack you must listen the tunes of 1972 Ralph Bakshi cartoon, even if the quality of animation is quite poor and the story finishes at the half.

Beautifully composed!

If I remember correctly, this was the song that played during the credits at the end. It may just be on the movie soundtrack however.

Who, Bruckner? Guess so, cause he's no longer with us.
Does anyone know who the vocalist is? I was sure it was Bjork when I saw the movie. I'd also like to hear the track (from the Two Tower's soundtrack) with Isabel Bayrakdarian, if I can slip in a request, Bill...
Would be a 9, had it been an instrumental!
For anyone who likes this kind of orchstral pieces:
Try some of Anton Bruckner 's Symphonies!!! Nr. 9 (his last one) is incredible... Well, the other ones too
thought it was bjork. Don\'t really like it in any case. Saw lotr p2, gollum was pretty well done. However I didn\'t like the movie all that much, too many things compressed in too short of a time.
Whoa!! I watched this movie too but I don't remember the song. So glad you played it.

Sounds like pretentious movie music to me. The soaring violins are much too much - when will they finally quit?

Very uplifting song... just what I needed, thanks Bill.
We love this
When this first came on (before I saw the song title), I thought \"wow, this sounds like some kind of movie score\".
Great flick... a friend and I were just the other day trying to figure out who that was singing at the end of the movie.
i love this song. i love the movie. i love the book. sounds almost like Bjork, but with lyrics i can understand....thanks for playing it
Sounds like a James Bond movie soundtrack in slow motion.
Wow! How cool is this. I know some folks will hate it, but I\'m not one of them. Thanks for playing this beautiful and haunting song.

The movies have their limitations, although they are very entertaining, very dynamic, very heroic. The acting is good, the action better. But so many convenient plot twists and the credibility begins to strain.
The soundtrack, however, is a master work. I don't get any criticism that the music is horrible. If a CD could have been worn out, I would have done so when out and about in a car not long after the first movie was in the theaters. I blasted it like it was the magnum opus of a stellar rock god. Howard Shore composed a fabulous work of symphony and cinema.
