Some days I feel like my shadow's casting me
Some days the sun don't shine
Sometimes I wonder what tomorrow's gonna bring
When I think about my dirty life and times

One day I came to a fork in the road
Folks, I just couldn't go where I told
Now they'll hunt me down and hang me for my crimes
If I tell about my dirty life and times

I had someone till she went out for a stroll
Should have run after her
It's hard to find a girl with a heart of gold
When you're living in a four-letter world

And if she won't love me then her sister will
She's from say-one-thing-and-lead-another's-ville
And she can't seem to make up her mind
When she hears about my dirty life and times

Some days I feel like my shadow's casting me
Some days the sun don't shine ''(don't shine)''
Sometimes I wonder why I'm still running free
All up and down the line

Gets a little lonely, folks you know what I mean
I'm looking for a woman with low self esteem
To lay me out and ease my worried mind
While I'm winding down my dirty life and times

To lay me out and ease my worried mind
While I'm winding down my dirty life and times

some people just need to prove Sam Clemen's(as Mark Twain) point for him.
can't help but like it...it's like a note left by a good friend that moved away
Just in case any of you were wondering if this was just a guy having a bad day, here are Eul0gy's reviews of the 5 songs in the RP rotation from The Wind. If you think maybe it's just a hatred of Zevon, check out the comments of almost every low rated song on his list. Somebody should quit their job at the post office before people get hurt. ... well.. so far this is the best song off of zevon's final album... course, thats not saying much... i'm starting to wish the guy hadn't died so i wouldn't have to suffer through the trash he put on his last album. And to the people who say "wow, zevon's last album feels really urgent" i say pull yer head out yer prostierier and see this album for what it really is... a mediocre musician's rushed final album.
Eul0gy wrote:
I have to agree with rgrace... but not just with this song... zeevon's entire final album is made special only because it was made on his deathbed... if zeevon was not dead... this album wouldn't have made it out of the studio in it's current condition. I can understand what zeevon was trying to capture though... the sound of mortality... but he botched it... the album just sounds rushed.
Eul0gy wrote:
The singing is terrible, the writing is passable, and the instrumentals are forgetable. The fact that zevon is worm food is the only thing that makes this song/album special in any way. Now, i can understand what zevon was trying to get when he decided to make this album, a voice changed by the certainty of death, thing is, he failed, and the album doesn't sound anything other than "rushed."
Eul0gy wrote:
a person who can't sing, backing up another person who can't sing... whats worse, is the backup is trying to mimic the lead, thus making his voice even worse... this is by far some of the worst vocals i have ever heard. of course, i finally realize why "werewolves of london" was so popular... only song where waren zevon's voice matched the pacing of the music.

That ain't right. However, I do think that RP could play more Warren than just his last CD. The old stuff is great and should not be neglected!

I miss him too, for the same reason. Hear the joy in his music.

This is so poignant and sad. It is also pure Zevon. I like it.
Farewell Warren you'll always have a place in my heart
that is good stuff considering what warren had to put up with... esp. his terminal cancer.
The songs on this album seem to be a very fitting valediction to a stunning career. NPR ran an interview on "Weekend Morning Edition" with Zevon's son. He relayed how his father said, "I spent the first half of my career being Jim Morrison, the second half being the perfect dad." God Bless.
Hummmmm, not quite sure about this one. :? He has his new album out today. I also read that he has terminal cancer.
