The look of love
Is in your eyes
A look your heart
Can't disguise
The look of love
Is saying so much more than
Just words could every say
And what my heart has heard
Well it takes my breath away
I can hardly wait to hold you
Feel my arms around you
How long I have waited
Waited just to love you
Now that I have found you
You've got the look of love
Is on your face
A look that time can't erase
Be mine, tonight
Let this be just the start of
So many nights like this
Let's take a lovers vow
And seal it with a kiss
I can hardly wait to hold you
Feel my arms around you
How long I have waited
Waited just to love you
Now that I have found youDon't ever go
Don't ever go
I love you soI can hardly wait to hold you
Feel my arms around you
How long I have waited
Waited just to love you
Now that I have found you
Don't ever go
Don't ever go
Don't ever go
I love you so.............
It is the sax at the end that sends me adrift

RIP Hal David, author of many many wonderful lyrics to Bacharach's music.
Perhaps they can seem to middle-of-the-road for RP, but they are beautiful gems of music.
IMNSHO RP could use a few more of them.
What about Spooky or Son of the Preacher Man, Bill? {#Silenced}

"The Look of Love", music written by Burt Bacharach,  for the soundtrack of movie James Bond "Casino Royale"(1967); later addicional lyrics by Hal David;

Subsequently this popular song had numerous versions by famous artists, such as, Marvin Gaye, Nina Simone, Shirley Bassey,  Sergio Mendes,  The Delfonics,  The Zombies, Isaac Hayes, etc.

remembering  the passionate voice and music of Ms. Dusty Springfield, born Mary Isabel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien.

UR-sula!!!!!

(As for this track, I have to say that I'm in the Dionne camp.)

LOL... Still, both are amazing talents.

old? I must be ancient!  Finally passed on that '64 Zenith tube am/fm console I grew up listening to this including early Beatles classics on top 40!  I remember visits to Safeway to get tube replacements.  It was decades later that I started to appreciate Zep and "hippy" tunes.  Not long ago, wife kept swearing it'd be a good coffin.  Suspect it's a good thing I passed it on to someone that appreciated good ole tube stereo setups ;-).  It took it a few minutes to warm up, but once it did, what wonderful sounds it let loose including '78s!  Cheers to the good ole days!

Oh God, I feel old!!

I'm trying to figure out if that's a cheap shot or merely damning with faint praise. Regardless, IMHO Dusty stands/stood in a class of her own. This is a lovely song, which unfortunately gets too identified with the faux-Bond flick, Casino Royale. And if the dis is on Dusty, then I'd suggest Dusty in Memphis, a classic by any measure.

As a Dusty fan I look forward to this movie.

"Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman is set to star in a film based on the life of British pop icon Dusty Springfield.

Daily Variety reports that the 40-year-old Australian actress will also produce the biopic - one of two films on Springfield currently in the works in Hollywood.

Springfield, who died in 1999, enjoyed huge success throughout the 1960s with a string of hits including I Only Want To Be With You, You Don't Have To Say You Love Me and The Look of Love.

However Springfield's success masked a troubled personal life that saw her battle mental illness and drug and alcohol problems.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1995, four years before her death".

That was awesome. :) I grew up with this stuff and thought it was stupid. Now that I'm old enough to really listen I recognize how excellent this is and Ray Charles and Johnny Cash (okay, I liked him when I was a kid).
This song immediately trips me back to jr high school! That's both good and bad.
I like this song until the honky clarinet?/sax? interlude.  (I mean "honky" as in sounds like a goose honking, not honky as in white person.)
Rightfully placed in the love scene in Casino Royale.  The one with Peter Seller and Ursula Andress.
Wow.

More the Matt Monro, I'd say.. was the Welsh Warbler ever so subtle?

Hey... the B-52s had to have something to lampoon!

Hmmmm.... not sure what to make of this in the RP context. As far as Diana (Krall) goes, I like some of her stuff, but some songs she can't quite do. This is one of them. I do like Sergio Mendez & Brazil '66's version, however.

Off topic, though, may I suggest Dean Martin's version of Sway (covered by the Blue Hawaiians). It's freakin' terrific! Who knew?
The Tom Jones of women singer's back then?
As ever, wow!

Sergio Mendez did a nice version...this is pretty good, too, you know, now that I'm all grown-up and stuff.

What a beautiful rendition of this classic song.
Simply sublime.

When you grow up, there is a slight possibility that even you might begin to appreciate Dusty Springfield's vocal talent and music and lyrics by Bacharach and David. Nah!!!

Oh man, bring me back......
PERFECTION!
I'm having one of those days where every urgent thing to be done is behind, crises everywhere and little hope of solving them. But I stopped everything to listen to this.
She sounds great, but isn't her voice kinda stuck in her throat (unsupported)? Is that what makes her sound so sexy?

Little breath of fresh air, thanks.
Burt's brilliant and Dusty...well, she was hot. What a sexy voice. She was singing this directly to me, wasn't she?
