It's close to midnight, and something evil's lurkin' in the dark
Under the moonlight, you see a sight that almost stops your heart
You try to scream, but terror takes the sound before you make it
You start to freeze, as horror looks you right between the eyes, you're paralyzed

'Cause it's a thriller, thriller night
And no one's gonna save you from the beast about to strike
You know it's thriller, thriller night
You're fighting for your life inside a, killer, thriller tonight, yeah

You hear the door slam, and realize there's nowhere left to run
You feel the cold hand, and wonder if you'll ever see the sun
You close your eyes, and hope that this is just imagination
Girl, but all the while, you hear a creature creepin' up behind, you're outta time

'Cause it's a thriller, thriller night
There ain't no second chance against the thing with the forty eyes, girl
(Thriller, thriller night)
You're fighting for your life inside a, killer, thriller tonight

Night creatures call and the dead start to walk in their masquerade
There's no escaping the jaws of the alien this time
(They're open wide)
This is the end of your life

They're out to get you, there's demons closing in on every side (boom!)
They will possess you, unless you change that number on your dial
Now is the time, for you and I to cuddle close together, yeah
All through the night, I'll save you from the terror on the screen, I'll make you see

That it's a thriller, thriller night
'Cause I can thrill you more than any ghoul would ever dare try
(Thriller, thriller night)
So let me hold you tight and share a, killer, diller, chiller thriller here tonight

'Cause it's a thriller, thriller night
Girl, I can thrill you more than any ghoul would ever dare try
(Thriller, thriller night)
So let me hold you tight and share a (Killer, thriller)

I'm gonna thrill you tonight

Darkness falls across the land
The midnight hour is close at hand
Creatures crawl in search of blood
To terrorize your neighborhood
And whosoever shall be found
Without the soul for getting down
Must stand and face the hounds of hell
And rot inside a corpse's shell

I'm gonna thrill you tonight
(Thriller, thriller)
I'm gonna thrill you tonight
(Middle of the night, thriller))
I'm gonna thrill you tonight
Ooh, babe, I'm gonna thrill you tonight
Middle of the night, babe

The foulest stench is in the air
The funk of forty thousand years
And grizzly ghouls from every tomb
Are closing in to seal your doom
And though you fight to stay alive
Your body starts to shiver
For no mere mortal can resist
The evil of the thriller

Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha

Not at all.
No Thriller for Halloween, 2022.

Shall continue to wait!
Nor in 2020 either.

Saw this from a local Middle School and thought it an interesting cover…

i don't think he's talking about a Halloween Monster
Such a classic. Don't wait until October 31 rolls around again before you play this again.
Happy Halloween!
Any album that sells 30 Million in the USA - should be played on any Radio Station
Took 3 clicks of the PSD to make this crap go away.

Yeah, kinda grooving on this on this All Hallow's Eve.  Waiting for junior to get home and then head out for some T&T.
Well played, Bill. Happy Halloween... : )
I'm glad you only play this every two years
{#Angel}

Holy cow, I've been posting in this thread for nearly a decade.
Now this is a truly great song.
Missed hearing it this year

A CLASSIC!
Awesome!!! Only pop music allowed in the house when I was little :oD.
Halloween came on a Saturday this year.
as long as it's only once a year...
Wow that was painful.  Good thing Halloween only comes once a year.

I guess the Album's cover has nothing to do with the album's name

Yup, this brings me back to Halloween in the mid 80's... Thanks RP!
omg! brings back memories...when i was a kid! groovy.....
A'riiite....

Wow ... over a page of comments.

Random thoughts: huge talent, weirdo or worse, transcended race —- in the end, life imitates art.

And, for my money, this tune has one of the great grooves of all time.

Michael, you paid the price.  Thank you so much for the music!

He'd of loved to know that.

And Ed McMahon just before that, although I guess that wasn't much of a surprise.

I owe this man everything I am, musically speaking. A childhood hero. He will be missed.
I prefer Vincent Price's contribution to Alice Cooper's "Welcome To My Nightmare", now that's great theater!

Yep Bill - like you said - not the usual fare for RP; same here; but boy oh boy, that guy blew the music video thing wide open.  His talent will be missed.  And Farrah's too.

And Sky Saxon.

damn. You were quite a talent. RIP Michael.

RIP Michael..
..a true musical master..up there with the greats..
Dangit...this guy was one weird dude, but this song (actually the whole album) still sends me into an early 80's kinda happy mood.{#Dancingbanana_2}

RIP you weirdo.  I really loved your earlier music.  Not so much the later stuff, tho.
Yep Bill - like you said - not the usual fare for RP; same here; but boy oh boy, that guy blew the music video thing wide open.  His talent will be missed.  And Farrah's too.
R.I.P Michael

You lived a troubled, public life - and you gave your talent.
Vincent Price always makes me laugh.
thank you for playing this, it choked me up a little. he will be missed!
Let the hyberbole and mythologizing start - he is the Elvis of his generation, and Neverland will be opened as a major tourist attraction like Graceland.
Thanks for playing and recognizing his impact on pop music!
So very sad. Rest now MJ.

I knew you were gonna play this, Bill.  RIP, Michael.
Was great to hear them announce the sad news. I was going to go see him in Vegas after he finished up in London. Dude was a serious, hardcore freak with some pretty massive personal issues, but some of his albums ("Off the Wall", I'm looking at you) are among the best R&B/pop out there.

Going to have to dust off my vinyl later and revisit some of the great stuff he did in his early career.
Never really liked his stuff, but this was damned good, made better by Vincent's bit.
Ed, Farrah, and Mike. . . been a rough week,

RIP.
Really out of the blue... RIP MJ and Farrah
RIP, mj
not a fan but still sad to see one of the "greats" go.

R.I.P
I was just about to put this on the stereo - so sad.

Bless
Very fitting, farewell Michael.
Thank you Bill.

RIP Michael

Ooooooh....too bad "Baby's on Fire" by Eno isn't on the playlist.  That would be excellent about now...

Michael was actually a handsome man before he turned the scalpels lose on his face (and bleach)

I couldn't agree more.  Quincy knew a great act when he saw one and produced Michael's 2 finest albums.  Having Jon Landis produce and direct the video....well, you just can't get much better than that!

{#Yes}   Michael at his peak....love hearing it once a year...
You gotta admit, it takes a real talent to sell a song this silly.

Woot! I AM still around!  <chairdance>
I knew this song would pop up on today's playlist!
C'mon everyone— you know you remember the moves!
Big risk there Bill. Can't say I'm thrilled... at all but it IS Halloween

Too bad he couldn't keep it together.

So true. I loved the Jackson Five when I was growing up, and feel sorry that his life turned out to be such a circus. I think he deserved better.

I got home just in time to hear this on RP! Whoo hoo........dancing around the house now...........I know you couldn't play it at any other time.

I knew if I listened long enough today, I'd hear this song! Recognized it from the very first sound.

That makes me pathetic, doesn't it?

Still, very appropriate.
Once a year is just fine.  Always loved the video.

No it was late '83 ... my bad. (I was in college (UCLA) from '78 to '83, and I remember the theatre on Westwood Blvd. ... it could not have been '84 because I was gone by then.) The rest of the story is true, however. Promise.

True story: In '78 ('79) Disney re-released Fantasia to theatres. As I arrived at the theatre, it was total pandemonium in the theatre lobby: Kids screaming, toddlers weeping terrified, families fleeing the darkened theatre, angry parents demanding to see the manager ... and from the darkened theatre a loud funky thump thump and I entered the theatre just in time to see Michael-Jackson-Zombie doing the breakdown at the end with ensemble of dancing zombies with eyes rolling from their sockets, necrotic black tongues rolling around in toothless mouths, worms crawling from bony cheeks, etc.. Apparently, Disney had tacked on the new Michael Jackson video as an opener to Fantasia. Lovely idea. Needless to say, after Fantasia, I stuck around for the next showing.

The line is drawn here. Nutty, kooky, zany halloween-themed songs are cool. But not this. This was never cool. Never.
yeah, I'm sure that's why it only won 8 grammys produced by Quincy Jones but I'm sure YOU know better than all those folks that bought this album and Quincy as well.... Let me be clear. Michael is a truly F*CKED up guy. But this CD was groundbreaking and his dancing...OMG.
nothin' wrong with this!
I love that this is part of RP's Halloween song list. Once a year is really enough...

Well, this album still is one of the best selling albums of all time. Would that be because most of the people have bad taste? That would be a contradiction.
Though I think this is a great song and there was a lot of songwriting talent in the MJ camp, I do not think what you are saying is at all logical. How would it be a contradiction? Popularity does not mean something is in good taste.
Look how cute he was! I had such a crush on him when he was in the Jackson 5... Best of luck to you Micheal, I have a feeling your childhood may have been rocky.

Beg to differ. This song is awesome. Hate the album cover, though.
It's Halloween!

Unfortunate if that's true. I think it sits well in Mr. Price's CV of campy delights.

the Halloween theme is bringing out a lot of songs I never thought I would hear on RP. Fun to hear these toons once a year.
Okay, it's Halloween and this song is totally appropriate. I just hope it's only played on this day alone. Perhaps if I was 11 yrs. old again I would rate this a 10 and ask to hear it every day just so I could to the dance with it!
It seems that this song exists int he RP database for one purpose -- and one purpose alone -- to be played on Halloween....
Scariest thing is 10 people rated this a 10. These people are amongst us!
Yay! I've been waiting all day for this!
Thankfully this only gets played at Halloween, that is about the only time I would want to hear this.
