My wife worked in the Indiana factory that made Naugahyde. Somewhere around the house we have an actual Nauga. It was wild-caught, not one of these captive-bred ones you can still buy.

Recently I bought a five-disc compilation of Getz/Gilberto - wonderful. But Senor Jobim was the giant upon whose shoulders they stood.

Not my cup of tea, which is why I love RP.
I still have this 1959 album.
This music fills my head with visions of Audrey Hepburn films.
GODLIKE!!!  ICONIC!!!   Thanx RP!

To some people any music that's not Zeppelin or Floyd all sounds the same.

My goodness, what an easter egg to drop in on Radio Paradise! This classic tune made me perk up and took me back maybe 30 years. I had no idea who the artist or title were.

I'm not saying it's what I want to hear all the time, but to drop in something like this, or Elmer Bernstein, or ... it's just genius. Thank you!

This sure sounds nice.

I'd say many of the "eclectic" tracks here on RP fall squarely into the "easy" category ...

The king of Bossa Nova.

Yeah, a version with Getz in it!

Dang! The elevator is STUCK. {#No}

This feels like I'm on an endless elevator. The kind without mirrors, which are even more boring than your mirrory-wall-elevator.

Concur. The one on the Getz/Gilberto album is much better. I'm not in love with the cheesy strings and flute.

...what's the phrase - beautiful music?..

Love it...but I'm a late boomer. WTF.

Yeah that's what I remember, but I was a kid at the time--and had a major fear of shots.
of course that should be MAY I...

Nice. I had to check in to see how this one sat with the under 30 crowd. Heh. Brings back memories of my dad's huge vinyl collection of cool jazz. Jobim was right in there. The classic with the uber-cool alto tenor sax of Getz is better, tho.
Please, my I have some more?!!!
Mr Smith? The doctor will see you now...
Outstanding! Dig that bossa nova beat, baby!
Wait a minute! I've got a martini but I can't find my cigarette holder!!!
There's nothing more enjoyable than hearing a new version to one of your favorite songs. He's no Stan Getz, but it is beautiful just the same.
. . . Now serving Mai Thais on the Ledo deck . . . Overheard: "What's with all the tinkly music?"
welcome to anthony's, sir. do you have a reservation?
Oh shush you elevator whiners. Try to do a cogent solo to this chord change and you might change your tune. This is some killer songwriting. Total classic.
Your attention, Walmart Shoppers...
I feel like I'm about to get my teeth drilled.
Egad!
ice pick please... no, just a touch to the left, yeah right on my temple. That's got it, thanks.
you know, for what it is, which I guess would be elevator music, it's a 10 Best freakin' elevator music I ever heard.
nice set.

This is what I love about RP - XTC followed by Carlos Jobim - followed by Steely Dan - where else can you get such diversity, excellent!

Aaaahhh... Lovely. Not my fav arrangement, but this is very nice. Bossa Nova, baby! c.

OMG. I love this song. I know it from Red Hot + Rio.

That's funny but this isn't...especially after GreenMan, Bill...are you trying to see if we're awake? YUCK!
Alright, who's the wise guy who let my mom upload songs?
WHOA...thought I was at the mall there for a second.
are you serious with this? yuck.
i love bossa nova (getz, gilberto jobim et al were all brilliant) this is a bad choice. why pick the version with strings? the strings ruin it and make what was a beautiful, beautiful song (see best of bossa nova on verve) and reduce it to muzak.
Love songs, nothing but love songs.
Man... at 5p? I get a Lawrence Welk feeling with this version that I do not feel when I hear the Getz/Gilberto version...
Cool! Let me slip into my lounge lizard outfit.
first introduced to his music on the 'lost highway' soundtrack. thank you trent reznor, and thanks bill for playing this!

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot ??
Where the other Jobim fan go?!!! : )
