From the brightest star
Comes the blackest hole
You had so much to offer
Why did you offer your soul?
I was there for you, baby
When you needed my help
Would you deny for others
What you demand for yourself?
Cool down mama, cool off
Cool down mama, cool off
You speak of sights and wonders
I need something other
I would believe if I was able
But I'm waiting on the crumbs from your table
You were pretty as a picture
It was all there to see
Then your face caught up with your psychology
With a mouth full of teeth
You ate all your friends
And you broke every heart thinking every heart mends
You speak of signs and wonders
But I need something other
I would believe if I was able
But I'm waiting on the crumbs from your table
Where you live should not decide
Whether you live or whether you die
Three to a bed
Sister Ann, she said
Dignity passes by
And you speak of signs and wonders
But I need something other
I would believe if I was able
I'm waiting on the crumbs from your table, hey
Comes the blackest hole
You had so much to offer
Why did you offer your soul?
I was there for you, baby
When you needed my help
Would you deny for others
What you demand for yourself?
Cool down mama, cool off

I really like this song. Interesting this title does not pop up much.
There are several good U2 songs with titles not recognizable. Enough that I created a sizable playlist called "Name That U Tune." A bunch of good songs most people can't name.
Crumbs From Your Table is on this playlist.
Wow. No comments for 12 years!
It was a new release back then, and it got no love from the RP community. It will be interesting to see if this revival changes the comments and ratings.

Sounds like a cut that didn't make it on ATYCLB.

Just because you happen to like music that I loathe, doesn't give you the right to make someone you don't know 'sucks'
The simple fact that you dare to state something like this makes me feel you realy need to have some looks in the mirror and say that again. Not because you have a different taste of music, but because you have a serious lack of respect.

This song belongs on the "never play again"list.
Maybe we can debate when exactly U2 died?

Hip-hop? They don't play real hip-hop on tv, you probably mean soft-porn with bad music.
This song belongs on the "never play again"list.

No you were right the first time - it is indeed noise. Is there anything good off this new album?

I've hesitated to rate this one because, the first couple of times, it sounded like just so much noise that was sometimes drowned out by Bono's squalling. Now that I've given it a chance, I can say without reservation that is just so much noise that is sometimes drowned out by Bono's squalling. Not even the talented musicianship (is that a word?) of all the members except Bono can save this one.

A welcome counterbalance for all the shit projected on us on TV and radio...
Not so much anymore, since all the shit is starting to sound like another u2 2. ;)

Wow RP is really becoming U2FM these days.
It always amazes me that U2's commercial machine manages to get absolutely everywhere. They really manage to get on every media known with maximum exposure. They're on lots of commercials, commercial radio, MTV, independent radio, normal tv shows, talk shows, music shows, art shows, iPODS, posters, you name it - U2 are there getting even more exposure, It's an all out attack. I do like U2 but this sort of saturation everywhere I think is really horrible - it's so not about the music is it? 'Praise the Lord above and Sell! Sell! Sell!'
Thank you mister David Gray
I agree they're a very commercial band, but a good one. A welcome counterbalance for all the shit projected on us on TV and radio...

I think U2 is going the way that art did after World War I. That was supposed to be the War to End All Wars, and the devastation the world went through was unfathomable up til that point in time. Afterwards, nothing was the same, and the art world reflected this most obviously. From the Dadas to the Surrealists onward through to philosophical thought such as Existentialism and Deconstructionism. U2 has always been a consistent band, and I think they're inconsistency on this album reflects the times we find ourselves in. We are in the midst of another great shift, one where nothing behind us, and nothing ahead, is recognizable at all. We're just kind of groping, and there is still some semblance of familiarity, but really, nothing is as it was. So goeth U2.
The first one I've heard from this album that I kinda like... not enough to buy this one (much like the last album)
Repetition or style? I run into this question even in my own work.
Underwhelming. Granted they're rock legends, but let's have something fresh, fellas! I agree that this sounds regurgitated, like much else on the new album that I've heard so far.
(This from someone who considers Achtung Baby one of the greatest albums ever.)

Is someone uploading *all* tracks from this album? Don't you ever get enough of it?
Holy ..... For me one track in a year is already overplaying it.
Now, now.... there are one or two of us that really like this band. And I know you pity us for that, but that's ok..... :-)
U2 rocks
Tux sucks

The reviews I've heard so far amount to "not challenging music, but very listenable and enjoyable". Let's see.
I've heard most of the songs that have made it onto RP for the past few days. "Vertigo" stands out, everything else is good, but not great. Looking foward to getting the CD next week and listening to it all the way through.
Pleasant enough, nothing to write home about, but a solid album track I should think. Definitely reminds of Electrical Storm and Hands Across America.
so far what i've heard of this cd sounds like remakes of previous work :-k

how are these songs making onto RP?

anyway great tune
They've released the CD to radio stations a couple of weeks early - a fairly common practice.
sigh... the 4th U2 song today from this CD. what a waste of webwaves.

Opening riff could be taken from the Joshua Tree album. This is a great song

This is no one oh them.
