You got wings on your fingers
In the middle of a battle
Is a little of the way you talk
And you shine
You got cobwebs on your halo
In the closet there are skeletons
Lined up ready to talk
And they shine
Fade into what
Made into hours
And pulled into lines
You got a ring around your finger
And a heart in the bottle
That never really learned to talk
And they shine
You got brickbats on your beltway
In the middle is a puzzle
With the pieces that have turned to slop
And they shine
In the middle of a battle
Is a little of the way you talk
And you shine
You got cobwebs on your halo
In the closet there are skeletons
Lined up ready to talk
And they shine
Fade into what
Made into hours
And pulled into lines
You got a ring around your finger
And a heart in the bottle
That never really learned to talk
And they shine
You got brickbats on your beltway
In the middle is a puzzle
With the pieces that have turned to slop
And they shine

If this is good Meat Puppets, I'm glad I missed the rest. Ugh.

Your welcome.
I saw them open for blind melon in 1993! I think I liked them alot more than blind melon. I felt very cool to know the band Kurt referred to on unplugged. Ah, memories!
Your welcome.

Are they named after the cybernetic prostitutes in William Gibson's cyberpunk novels such as Neuromancer?
They'd spare themselves the ordeal of being with a punter by falling unconscious and letting an artificial intelligence in an implant take over control of their body for the duration of the session.
Edit: Flicking through a book of "1001 Albums You Must Hear" earlier, seems the band were around before the WG novel.
Not as bad as they used to be, but the lyrics are still only decent. I remember hearing these guys in the late 80's and the were the most awful band I had ever heard.

Could it be the resemblence to Bruce Cockburn, albeit more soprano?

I think I was at that same show. Very underappreciated band.
Meat Puppets! Wow. I haven't heard these guys in years...
Been a long time since I heard this. Nice 7.

My BF was telling me that one of the brothers could be in jail. Does anyone know that for sure?
To answer the question, Cris Kirkwood was released from prison in July of 2005 after serving time for assault on a security guard at a downtown Phoenix post office.
Good news is Cris has kicked heroin and he and Curt are getting back together and working on an album for release later this year or early next.
Decent tune from the Paradise Valley boys. Nice to hear them here.

F--- I haven't heard this song in ages. Who else got into the puppets from listening to them on Nirvana's unplugged?

Did the Meat Puppets always sound like acoustic Phish, or is this a new development?

I'm a big fan of both bands (Puppets and Melon). They provided the soundtrack to my college days, and also bring back fond memories. Quality music...

Great band to see live to get a better impression of their talents.
I'll say it again. These lame whiteboy mofo's need to take a lesson or two from the chicks about putting some *life* into their vocals...& maybe on songwriting as well.....
Hey Butthead..... Look at my meat puppet.
Damnit Beavis, pull up you pants...fart knocker!
more cowbell!
Love this entire album.
Meat Puppets-right on......I am floored!

Is "jamming" like code for something?
I haven't heard this before. Nice song

Uhh ... ... huhuhuhuhuhuhuh
He said Meat Puppets Huhuhuhuhu
This sounds like Phish circa Billy Breathes.
I *know* I've heard this before, in a movie or TV show maybe? I can't place it.
Anyway, I really like it, the vaguely boom-chick groove with the acoustic solo, its really nice.
Snooze
Loved this album when it came out.
