I am colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready
I am ready
I am ready
I am
Taffy stuck and tongue tied
Stutter shook and uptight
Pull me out from inside
I am ready
I am ready
I am ready
I am fine
I am covered in skin
No one gets to come in
Pull me out from inside
I am folded
And unfolded
And unfolding
I am colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready
I am ready
I am ready
I am fine
I am fine
I am fine
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready

It's not working for me I'm afraid. I was a big fan of August and Everything After which barely made an impression on the rest of the UK, but since then they have been sunk by their own earnestness (Shrek notwithstanding).
blech
enough is ten times enough

A song in B&W.
somebody call the waaaaaaaahmbulance...
This is right up there with "Raining in Baltimore" for melancholy. RP 192kps stream shows the pitch and timbre that adds so much atmosphere too. I loved it. solid 9
As for the twonks arguing if the strings are real or not, who cares? Although before being too emphatic about it, maybe they should consider that a string quartet (2 fiddles, viola and cello) was retained by CCs and is credited on "This Desert Life" (CD from which this track comes) sleevenotes.
I guess the string players were out having tea, whilst Colorblind backing was being laid down - so the keyboard player had to wing it....

I have liked some of Counting Crows' music, but I have to wonder - just how depressing can these guys get?

Coffee black, egg white, tedium grey . Fine film, shame about this number - a nailed-on 3 from the narcoleptic Nottingham jury.
I only do like two of their songs and this is not one of them...
this is the only counting crows song that I like, thanx for playing it Or I would have never thought to listen
Ick. I hate this band.
Surprised that the first word in this song is 'I?' You shouldn't be.
I like it...Has a Dave Mathews style

Sadly, I had to downgrade this from "Excellent" to merely "Quite Likable," because of the fake cello and flute - especially since I'm sure Counting Crows could've commanded real instruments for the song.
So you thought it was Excellent until you realised the flute and cello were synthesised. Did the song change in sound when you realised that? No, thought not. Another daft comment hits the RP forum

I just love this song's simplicity and honesty. Ignoring technically how it was made, synthetic or real, it is simply beautiful.
Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Once you hear the difference, it's impossible to un-hear it. For me it breaks the mood completely. Imagine if you were listening to a string quartet, and one of the musicians was playing a Casio keyboard. Would you be able to take the performance seriously?

wait, how can you tell the the cello and flute are fake?
I can't speak for the cello, but the flute sounds fake to me.
Fun Trivia Fact: You can easily compare the difference in quality between keyboards by comparing the flute sounds for each keyboard. The flute sound is perhaps the hardest instrument to fake electronically.
Pretty but blah.
I like the Counting Crows overall, and this is one of their better, but not their best, songs.
For fans of CC, Rolling Stone had a good interview with Adam Duritz recently.
Eek. What is Adam Duritz doing in a Philip Glass song?
Jeebus. Like my day wasn't already going badly. Please remove this horror from the playlist.

Stay away from Congress bridge
I'm about 100 yards from it right now. But I think jumping off that bridge would only get you cold and wet and banged up a bit.

very pretty. I like the catch in the piano.

Beautiful. Tugs at your heart.
That's it, I think that is why I like it.
In just the first few notes I am already haunted by these words and melodies. This song brings back such weird times in life for me. Strangely enough... I love it.
I am not a counting crows fan AT ALL...
With that said I actually do like this song for some reason.
Beautiful. Tugs at your heart.
simple, beautiful lyrics. expresses so much with so little.

I-am-ready for this song to be over

I have it on a mix I made years ago- and although adam's voice isn't musically perfect, the starkness of the song coupled with the touching lyrics make up for it.

As soon as I heard the opening notes, I thought how much I love love love this song too! It makes me think of someone from my past. It's a nice memory.

Colorblind and tone-deaf? Poor guy.
While it may be on the "Cruel Intentions" Soundtrack, it's also included on their album "This Desert Life" - a solid album, but even in that context, this is a stand-out tune. It's like a little detour the album takes, before getting on with the alternating up-tempo pleading and mid-tempo angst that makes up most of the disc (and I'm not complaining about the other material - I love it - but this song is something all its own).
No idea if it was written with the bulk of the material on the album, or if it was a leftover from other sessions (I'm sure someone will tell us) but it's a fantastic, simple tune. Almost embarrassingly direct, but somehow it works.
Glad to see it slipping into the RP rotation.
Nice . Never heard that before. CC can still surprise.
A 7.
This is a really good one.
