It's not every day I see you waiting here on the front porch of the store telling tales
I've come a hundred miles from the everglades
And if you've got some time tell me of your day
Oh sit beneath the stars
Oh the days are hot and long
I think time has taken everything from me
And my hands no longer work anymore
There's a child in the mud laughing now
She doesn't know her life is running away
Oh sit beneath the stars
Oh the days are hot and long
It's not every day I see you waiting here on the front porch of the store telling tales
I've come a hundred miles from the everglades
And if you've got some time tell me of your day
Oh sit beneath the stars
Oh the days are hot and long
Only if you've got some time
Only if you've got some time
Only if you've got some time
I've come a hundred miles from the everglades
And if you've got some time tell me of your day
Oh sit beneath the stars
Oh the days are hot and long

how does having a low-key sound not affect the overall sound of the band?
This song is "low-key," but the band as a whole certainly cannot be defined as "low-key." They have plenty of songs that prove otherwise.

I've liked everything I've heard from The Samples. Let's hear some more!

I feel compelled to defend The Samples from being called a boring band - yes, this song has a low key / monotonous sound, but it in no way reflects the overall sound of the band - especially live.
I recently saw them live. AMAZING!!!

No. They deserve to be more underrated. What a boring sounds-like-so-many-other-boring band.

one of the best songs from one of the greatest cds in music history. at least in my opinion.
I love this song and your assessment was intriguing. Either you're totally F.O.Sh** or you're onto something. Amazon.com people have rated this album four stars out of five, but I cannot find anything else except one comment by a reviewer who finds their songs boring. I tend to think the samples is probably very good. Hope they play more here on R.P.

good song - not the best one on the cd IMO. Please play Prophet of Doom (i see that this is already in the library, never been played).
Brilliant timing, I was just going to request this song. Very underrated band.

always good to hear some Samples...certainly doesn't happen every day
walked back to my desk and couldn't believe my ears. Great to hear old Samples here ...wish I'd caught the whole song.
Ack! This sounds like slightly, just slightly, more melodic My Bloody Valentine with all the pitch-bending crap going on. This kind of junk makes me physically ill.
